  1. Thanks to you guys, I actually avoided a 2006 J on my flight next week to Melbourne. Since im relatively new to this, I actually thought A380 would be the best way to fly to MEL. Turns out A380 to MEL still have 2006 J old looking cabin ( although I believe it will still be a good comfortable flight with that, but still, im more into the 2013 J one )

So yeah, thankyou guys. I’m your reader from Indonesia.

    1. You’re welcome, glad we were able to assist you to get the cabin you wanted. Yes most of the A380s still have the older seats and will do for a while. Enjoy the 2013 J!

    2. 2006 J is still a good product. Have been flying the old 380s and quite like the space of the seat even though some don’t like the width. Why would people complain about having more space? If I fly to Jakarta, I would try (but not always possible) to avoid the 2009 RJ.

      1. Agreed!! I love the space especially on super long flights. I prefer the 2013J as I would willingly give up some width for the useful side “console”, but I am not looking forward to flying on the 2017J which looks really narrow.

  2. I kinda concur with @melvsim and @vs.. except I’d add, IF the seats were in good condition.. I’ve come across too many times in recent years where the seats were dirty (this is something else that SQ needs to be better at, maintaining and cleaning their seats in ALL classes) and/or not in good working condition.. some buttons don’t work at all or certain functions don’t work properly.. KW doesn’t work etc.. I once had to ‘live with’ no KW because there was no other seat available in J, which is of course quite ridiculous..

I hate the look of ANA’s Biz Class product because, to me, it looks like a public toilet.. but you know it will be clean when you sit down.. the same can’t be said about SQ seats, unfortunately..

    1. Now that you’ve brought it up, the 2006J seats in particular are also really showing their age. I’ve been on some on which the bottom half of the bed doesn’t hold up horizontally anymore when flipped down… imagine trying to sleep on that on a 24 hour flight to JFK!

      1. There you go, @vs! That’s exactly what I meant! All the money spent to “wow”.. don’t want to spend 25 cents to keep them clean and functioning properly..

    1. Should all be corrected to the latest 2019 levels since last week. Let me know which ones don’t look right and I’ll investigate. Thanks.

  3. Good evening. We are flying Singapore from the uk to Singapore – Sydney and back from Brisbane. Our return flight is the 1810 from Brisbane. Slightly worried the business product won’t hold up against our outbound flights 1) is it worth it in the old model and 2) as we fly home 28/12/19 do you think the plane will change?

  4. Great summary, highly appreciated!

Just a quick note on the AKL-SIN SQ286 flight – my itinerary for Dec 2019 shows A380 – any updates here?

  5. Hello. I’m flying the SQ25 NYC-Singapore and SQ26 Singapore-NYC in January 2020 and February 2020 in business class. They have just changed my operating aircraft to a A380 that has Row 11-Row 27 in the cabin. So I’m guessing this is the Version 1 of the plane. Do you know what the reason for the change is? Thanks for the help

    1. Hi Fernando,

Yes this is the A380 Version 1 aircraft, which will be flying the SQ25/28 SIN-FRA-JFK-FRA-SIN flights from June 2019 onwards instead of the Version 2.

We don’t know the exact reason, but it’s likely due to some of the Version 2 aircraft being refitted with the new cabin products.

      1. Maybe by that time they’ll change it again and I will get the updated newer seats instead of the old ones.

      2. So they will probably bring the refitted aircrafts as Version 3 en route on SQ25/26 shortly later?
Any ideas about that? Thanks for any advice as I am travelling on that route in December 19 and would like to test the new product. Thanks in advance.

      3. Unfortunately no plans for that route to switch to the new products this year.

SIN-FRA-JFK needs 3 aircraft to support it and SQ like consistency, so we’d say 2020 at the earliest before they change this one.

  6. we are flying Istanbul to Sing in May this year. SQ391. I’m assuming that will be the old 2006J? We have swapped our London Heathrow flight to sing on the A380 due to being in Istanbul. Now regretting that switch as the aircraft looks very outdated. Any chance it will be an upgraded/refitted model?
    Thanks Rachel

  7. Guess you have to update SQ915/918 which is now operated by mostly A330 aircraft until the end of May (except for 1 rare appearance by 77W).
