It’s been a while since we looked at the latest Mileslife dining offers and there are a few of interest for October so here’s a quick roundup to help you boost your miles balance this month including some 8 miles per dollar restaurants, up to 1,500 miles bonus for completing a range of tasks and double miles for using your Standard Chartered credit or debit card.

8mpd restaurants

Mileslife has been offering a range of restaurants with a special 8 miles per dollar earn rate lately. The restaurants cycle monthly and the selection for October has been announced.

Do be aware however that at some Mileslife outlets any service charge and/or GST is not included in the qualifying spend for miles accrual. That means the rate isn’t always 8mpd, it can alternatively be around 7.4mpd (for GST ineligible) or 6.8mpd (for GST and service charge ineligible).

Those rates are still very good of course, though do bear it in mind so you’re not wondering why the miles earned don’t sum to the total bill times 8 in all cases.

Here’s the earning rate you’ll achieve at the participating restaurants this month. All advertised as 8mpd but we’ve checked which ones don’t include GST/service for miles earning as applicable and corrected the rates for you:

  • The LoKal – 8.0mpd
  • Hararu Izakaya – 8.0mpd
  • Wheeler’s Yard – 7.4mpd
  • GRUB Burger + Noodle Bar – 7.4mpd
  • Grissini – 6.8mpd
  • Food Capital – 6.8mpd
  • Ash & Elm – 6.8mpd
  • Man Fu Yuan – 6.8mpd

Note also that at Grissini and Food Capital, drinks and beverages are not eligible spend for miles earning through Mileslife. That can have a big impact.

On top of the above rates you are of course earning your regular miles by paying with a miles-earning credit card (e.g. an extra 1.2 miles per dollar with the Citi PremierMiles Visa).

Miles Booster

For October Mileslife is offering up to 1,500 bonus miles if you perform 3 tasks during the month.

  • Task 1: Dine three times on a Monday or Tuesday (spend S$10+ on each transaction) = 200 miles
  • Task 2: Spend six times during the month (S$19+ on each transaction) = 400 miles
  • Task 3: Spend S$600+ in total during the month = 400 miles
  • Bonus for completing all 3 tasks = 500 miles
  • Potential total: 1,500 miles

A few points on this promotion, firstly you have to register via the app.

Secondly when completing the tasks you must stick to the single frequent flyer program you selected when you registered for the offer, each time you pay using the app.

Lastly the bonus is stackable with other Mileslife offers, which is good news.

You’ll be credited the bonus 3-5 working days after the end of the promotion (i.e. in early November).

Once you’ve registered for the offer the app will keep you updated on how you’re progressing with each task.

Full terms and conditions for the October Miles Booster are available via the Mileslife app.

Standard Chartered

This deal has actually been running since 6th September. If you hold a Standard Chartered credit or debit card issued in Singapore you can receive double miles on dining, shopping, travel bookings and entertainment through the Mileslife app between now and 31st December 2018.

If you dine at a 3 miles per dollar restaurant for example and pay using your Standard Chartered Visa Infinite (SCVI) card you’ll get 6 miles per dollar instead. It is capped however at 2,000 bonus miles during the promotion period, and you can’t stack the 2x miles paying with your SCVI card alongside the 8 miles per dollar restaurants mentioned above during October (you’ll just get the 8mpd instead).

There’s also a 300 miles bonus for existing Mileslife users making a payment of S$69+ through Mileslife. Simply go to Account > Promo Code on the Mileslife app and enter code 300SCMILES.

SC Promo

Your promotion should then appear as shown above. Once you go to pay at a restaurant using your Standard Chartered card as payment method through the Mileslife app the bonus miles should reflect. In the following example I’m paying S$100 to a 3mpd restaurant, giving me 300 miles, plus 300 for the promo code, plus 300 (2x miles) for using my Standard Chartered card.

900 miles in total and that doesn’t even count the 140 miles I’ll earn from the card issuer. Not bad at all!

  1. Hi Andrew, has Mileslife really increased the minimum spending ($79) to be eligible for the 1000 miles bonus for new Mileslife users?

  2. Caveat on earning miles through DBS: The DBS card won’t give you miles on your first transaction on Mileslife. It is the first “qualifying” DBS transaction. Min spend of $49 that’ll get you the additional miles

  3. Thank you so much! I went to a restaurant last evening, registered Mileslife and used the code they provided (EXTRA1000) and I got 1000 bonus Avios! This App is amazing!
