KrisFlyer Spontaneous Escapes June 2019 offers

30% less KrisFlyer miles on a range of SIA Business, Premium Economy and Economy Class redemptions for travel in June 2019, including Bali, Australia and New Zealand

Singapore Airlines has released its monthly Spontaneous Escapes offer, and once again we are seeing a 30% discount on selected SIA and SilkAir flights for travel in June 2019.

A total of 38 destinations feature this month across the two airlines, slightly more than we saw for May 2019. As usual you’ll have to be travelling on a discounted route in an eligible cabin class, outside a blackout date, and book by 31st May 2019, to be eligible for the discounted rates.

Options this month include some first time appearances like Economy Class from Manchester to Houston for 24,150 miles and Business Class from Hong Kong to San Francisco for 62,300 miles.

Elsewhere the list features some longer routes in the newer Business Class seats at attractive rates, like Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and Japan.

June 2019 offers

For the second month in a row there are no Premium Economy redemptions on the A350 ULR services to and from the USA, however the Seoul route appears again with a discount in this cabin, and the Manchester to Houston flight (one-way) is available in this class of travel.

For Business Class offers, regular stalwarts like Hong Kong and Bangkok are missing this month, however some great deals are available to and from Australia and New Zealand in a mixture of mostly 2013 J and 2018 RJ cabins.

Other long routes like Dubai and Johannesburg are also on offer, and Bali is back – a welcome return for a popular route.

Selected northbound services to Japan are discounted in Business Class, and the biggest saving of all is valid for the last three weeks of June – Hong Kong to San Francisco for 62,300 miles on the 777-300ER (26,700 miles off the usual rate).

June offers – SIA newest Business products

As always, we start by answering one of the most popular questions we get each month this promotion is published – “Which Singapore Airlines long-haul Business Class or new Regional Business Class seats are included?”

Many of our readers are yet to try these new seats, so the interest is understandable. Here’s how it looks for June 2019 in those new(ish) premium Singapore Airlines cabins:

The best way to or from Bali for 13,300 KrisFlyer miles is back in June, with at least a daily option in each direction. (Photo: MainlyMiles)

Check out our review of the inaugural 787-10 flight from Singapore to Bangkok in this new seat, then home again the next day, to get an idea of what you’ll experience whether you fly in a solo window seat or as a couple in the middle pair.

There are plenty of options to and from New Zealand in the 2013 J seat, with Auckland and Christchurch both making the list this month. You can even head to Australia with a range of flights to Melbourne, but you may want to return from New Zealand to get the discount both ways.

Unfortunately there are no discounts on the 2017 Business Class seats this month, for the first time in a long time. Let’s hope we see Hong Kong or Shanghai back next month.

Bali is back

One of the most popular Spontaneous Escapes destinations makes a return to the list for June after a five-month hiatus (the route was last discounted in Economy and Business Class for travel in December last year).

Bali 2.jpg
Bali in June?

If it sounds like a nice escape, you’ll be pleased to know the Singapore – Denpasar route is now served twice per day with the new Regional Business Class and while the morning 787-10 flight is not discounted the new afternoon one is, alongside one of the A330 flights.

For the trip home two A330 flights and the late evening 787-10 service have 30% off. This is a great route to enjoy the discount as it brings the miles cost down to 13,300 each way, with minimal taxes.

Booking tip

Once again a quick reminder, since we’re always asked about this, the Singapore Airlines website and app don’t make it obvious that the discounted miles rate is being applied.

Have faith! Click the ‘Saver’ rate and then check the drop-down box, where the discounted rate will then be shown, provided your flight is applicable for the discount. Here’s how it looks:

Here is the full list of Singapore Airlines Business Class routes on offer for June 2019.

You’ll pay 30% off the usual saver redemption rates if you can book by the end of May and travel during June.

As always, we include the Business Class seat types as well as the aircraft types, helping you choose better on your preferred route (or even choose your route based on your preferred aircraft or seat type!).

Note that Cairns to Singapore is coming up on SIA’s Spontaneous Escapes list with an unusual discount (17,500 miles which would be a 37.5% discount, not 30%). It prices at 19,600 miles when searched, so we think this was a typo.

  • Redeem online by 31st May 2019.
  • Valid for flights from 1st – 30th June 2019.
  • Valid for ‘Saver’ award tickets on selected routes.
  • Blackout dates apply on certain routes (e.g. Fukuoka to Singapore blocked in Economy Class from 12-17 June).
  • Once booked, these promotional redemption rates are non-changeable and non-cancellable. Use it or lose it!
  • All flights in the chosen itinerary must be included in the offer, otherwise the miles rate reverts to standard ‘Saver’ rates for the whole itinerary with no discount. We recommend booking one-way legs so you can still save, for example on one direction of a return trip.
  • Stopovers are not allowed (again, think one-way redemptions with this offer).
  • Waitlist Saver redemptions are included in the discount, however the waitlist must clear on or before 31st May otherwise the regular ‘Saver’ rate will apply.

Summary

A nice range of longer routes this month, with a first-ever discount seen on two standalone sectors – Manchester to Houston in Economy / Premium Economy and Hong Kong to San Francisco in Business Class.

There are a wide range of options to try out the latest 2018 Regional Business Class seats, and the popular 2013 long-haul product is available on a number of routes including Australia / New Zealand, Dubai and Johannesburg.

Singapore to Dubai in particular for 34,300 miles is a great route if you’re heading to Europe next month, as you can combine it with a Star Alliance Business redemption to Europe for 29,000 miles. Continue your journey for example with Swiss or Lufthansa, getting you all the way from Singapore to perhaps London or Paris for just 63,300 KrisFlyer miles in Business Class.

The 2017 Business Class is sadly missing this month, with previous regulars Hong Kong and Shanghai not seeing any discounts for June.

For the second consecutive month Spontaneous Escapes has not featured Singapore Airlines Premium Economy on its A350 ultra long-haul flights to and from the USA for a discount.

This could still be down to the time of year as demand is usually high during the northern summer season, but hopefully for SIA it also means demand in general is improving in this cabin on these routes. It seems to have been a tough sell up to now.

As always our tables above will help you to pick the right flight on these routes to ensure you get the new cabin products in Business Class.

Remember if you’re unable to secure a return flight at the discounted rates, book two one-way tickets instead. You’ll pay the usual ‘Saver’ rate for the non-discounted sector but at least the whole itinerary will not be at the standard rate.

The important thing to remember is that taking advantage of a Spontaneous Escapes discounted redemption really ties you in to firm travel plans. You won’t be able to modify or cancel these bookings once made, so make sure you will definitely use the awards. The most painful thing to see is good miles going to waste.

  1. Thanks you are fast with this! Got Bali and back 26,000 miles on 787 RJ both flights. Didn’t expect this month can’t wait!

  2. Hi Andrew
I feel like an idiot, I thought I have signed up to Krisflyer for updates on programs (like spontaneous escapes). However I don’t ever receive anything.
Additionally, I cannot seem to find the ‘spontaneous escape’ on the main Singapore Airline website. The search bottom does not seem to have much use too.
    Please advise.

  3. You are really fast with this and very pleasing layout you have here. Looking forward to your reports every month

    1. Thanks glad you like it and hope it’s useful.

One of the most important things with these deals is to jump on the availability as soon as you can, so we always strive to get the analysis out there for you all as quickly as we can.

  4. Hey Andrew, I’m hoping to book MAD-MLE via IST, on Krisfleyr, (gutted I missed out on the BCN-SIN spontaneous escape)
I was wondering is it possible to do it from Lon but within 55k in points?

    Thanks

    1. Yes unfortunately the SQ185/186 currently a 787-10 is downgrading to 777-200 in June (2009 RJ) and A330 In July and August (also 2009 RJ). Reverts back to 787 from 1st September.

      1. Thanks Andrew for the quick confirmation.

Gutted, wanted to bring my family on a redemption to HCM.

        Darn those engine troubles!
