HSBC Cardholders: 20% off Agoda and up to 4 mpd when you book this weekend

HSBC and Agoda are back with their regular three-day flash sale for discounted hotel stays worldwide, offering 20% off for bookings locked in this weekend for stays completed by 31st December 2022.

This can be a great deal for those who are holding the revamped HSBC Revolution credit card, since it means earning 4 mpd for the payment on top of the attractive discount, though do be aware not all hotels are eligible for the offer.

There’s also a new selection of directly bookable WOW Weekend staycation offers for HSBC cardholders making hotel bookings between Friday 12th August 2022 and Sunday 14th August, including a Club Room with complimentary club benefits for two at the PARKROYAL Collection Marina Bay at S$430 nett, if you’re among the first 50 to secure a room.

Which card?

These offers are open to all HSBC Singapore cardholders, but wherever possible, you should be using your HSBC Revolution credit card for these bookings, to earn 4 mpd on the first S$1,000 spend at hotels per calendar month.

Agoda offer

HSBC and Agoda are running a three-day flash sale for cardholders booking worldwide hotel stays between Friday 12th August and Sunday 14th August, for stays through to 31st December 2022.

The discount is capped at S$200 per booking, and replaces the usual year-round 7% discount (for worldwide hotels) at Agoda for HSBC cardholders.

Although the discount is offered across all HSBC credit cards in Singapore, combining it with the Revolution’s 4 mpd rate for Agoda bookings makes the deal even sweeter, so this is the one to go for in our opinion.

Just make sure you’ll stick within the S$1,000 spend cap per calendar month in the bonus category, otherwise it drops to 0.4 mpd.

Example

Here’s an example of how the HSBC Agoda staycation booking discount with a previous 15% discount looks.

This S$28 saving (15%) example is where you’ll see the discount reflect at the enhanced 20% level when booking between 12th August and 14th August, for stays from now until 31st December 2022.

Remember, not all hotels are included in the Agoda HSBC deal (‘Promo Eligible’ only), so the offer is only useful if your preferred property is participating.

Also, while 20% off stacked with up to 4 mpd is a very attractive deal, make sure you’re not paying over the odds for the miles (not too much anyway) and not losing out on benefits you would value more, that may not be included in an eligible Agoda package.

The other two staycation deals are perhaps less exciting, with two Millennium Hotels in Singapore offering 22% off their best flexible rate, including daily breakfast for two, for bookings made this weekend:

You’ll get 10% off the Flexible Rate with breakfast as an HSBC cardholder, which increases to 22% off if you are also a My Millennium member.

You can join My Millennium instantly and for free here, so there’s no reason not to enjoy the higher discount.

Bookings must be made at this link between 12th August and 14th August, for stays through to 30th November 2022. Payment will be made upon reservation, using your HSBC credit card.

If you’re interested in these deals, either through Agoda or directly with the hotels in question, mark your calendar for 12th to 14th August (Friday to Sunday this weekend). Remember to check how the prices look through Agoda with this HSBC offer and compare with other direct hotel offers before you commit via that channel.

There’s also another range of discounted rates in this latest HSBC WOW weekend sale for three local hotels.

If you’re interested in the PARKROYAL deal, ensure you’re online at midnight on Thursday night (00:00 on Friday morning) to book. The best rate is limited to the first 50 bookings in this case, so you’ll need to try and book early to be in with chance of securing the lower S$430 nett rate.

As always, the HSBC Revolution card is the one to use, whether it’s through Agoda or directly with the hotel, giving you 4 mpd for the spend (up to S$1,000 per calendar month in bonus categories).
