Heads-up: 3X miles earning at electronics stores with Kris+ 24-27 Nov

Got a large electronics purchase coming up? It may be worth holding off until next weekend, with triple miles earning for purchases at stores like Harvey Norman, Challenger and iStudio with Kris+.

Earn up to 7 mpd with the right credit card.

Kris+ will be offering a boosted miles earn rate over the Black Friday – Cyber Monday weekend between 24th November 2023 and 27th November 2023, which will see the usual 1 mpd accrual at five electronics stores in Singapore tripled to 3 mpd, which comes in addition to up to 4 mpd when you use the right credit card to pay.

There’s also an upsized earn rate of 3 mpd (instead of 1.5 mpd) for KrisShop purchases via Kris+, which can net you up to 9 mpd in total when you use the right credit card.

This 3 mpd promotion is running for in-store purchases made via the Kris+ app between 24th November 2023 and 27th November 2023.

The following stores are included:

  • Audio House
TVs, refrigerators, washing machines, air conditioners, furniture
  • Challenger
    IT products
  • Harvey Norman
    Electrical & IT products, furniture
  • iStudio
Apple reseller, mobile and laptop accessories
  • Parisilk
    Consumer electronics

There is no minimum spend or upper cap to benefit from this enhanced earn rate – simply make payment via Apple Pay or Google pay via the Kris+ app at the checkout.

Harvey Norman alone has 12 outlets across Singapore, including its three-level flagship store at Millenia Walk.

This offer could make these five stores your go-to option for electronics or appliance purchases over the 24th – 27th November weekend – so hold off any large purchases till then if you can, to maximise your miles stash.

3 mpd at KrisShop via Kris+

Another part of this deal will be the ability to earn 6 miles per S$2 spent (3 mpd) at KrisShop via the Kris+ app, double the usual 3 miles per S$2 spent (1.5 mpd).

The miles earning rate at KrisShop is in addition to any tier bonus you will earn as as a KrisShopper member, based on your status tier, which the app automatically detects when you are logged on to your account.

It’s not clear whether this offer will also be replicated for those buying directly at KrisShop.com during the 24th -27th November 2023 weekend, so do check that, since there are some advantages to ordering via the desktop site, including the ability to apply PPS Club gift vouchers.

Use the right credit card for up to 7 mpd

Transactions made via the Kris+ app at all five electronic retailers under this offer will code under MCC 5732: Electronics Stores, and that means you can tap into some 3 mpd and 4 mpd earn rates with a variety of Singapore-issued credit cards.

Those miles are issued by your bank, so they come on top of the 3 mpd Kris+ is offering, and that means up to 7 mpd total effective earning on these purchases over the 24th – 27th November weekend.

Here’s an example of the cards which should give you upwards of 4 mpd for electronics purchases made through Kris+ with in-app payment.

These cards will also earn at the above bonus rates for KrisShop via Kris+ purchases, under MCC 5309: Duty Free Stores.

Be careful not to use Citi Rewards cards to make in-app payments on Kris+, since mobile wallet payments are specifically excluded from that card’s bonus miles earning, regardless of the merchant MCC.

Remember there is now no cap on 3 mpd earning for Kris+ transactions made using the KrisFlyer UOB credit card – so that’s a nice hassle-free unlimited 5 mpd option at Harvey Norman during this promotion.

Another option to consider for KrisShop via Kris+ purchases is the UOB Lady’s cards, offering 6 mpd on purchases at Duty Free Stores, provided Travel is selected as one of your quarterly bonus earn category options.

How to earn miles with Kris+ when purchasing

Since September 2021, in-app payments have been the only way to earn Kris+ miles when purchasing in-store at an earning partner.

The process is straightforward, just scan the Kris+ QR code at the checkout and make payment using Apple Pay or Google Pay with your linked credit card.

The app then credits your miles instantly, which you can then transfer immediately to your KrisFlyer account.

Transfer immediately to KrisFlyer

KrisPay miles earned through Kris+ can only be transferred to your KrisFlyer account within seven days of the transaction. To do so, simply tap on the “Transfer to KrisFlyer” button which will appear on the miles earned confirmation screen or transaction details screen.

You can do so later (within seven days), but why wait?

Remember that KrisPay miles earned per transaction can only be transferred to your account in their entirety. For example, if you earned 1,000 KrisPay miles from a single Kris+ transaction, the full 1,000 KrisPay miles must be transferred to your KrisFlyer account. If you have already spent some of your KrisPay miles earned, a partial transfer option is not available.

We therefore recommend transferring to KrisFlyer immediately following any Kris+ earning transaction like this, in case you either forget or make a mistake later.

If you’re not using Kris+ to earn additional miles for dining, retail, wellness or other goods and services in Singapore, then you’re potentially missing out on thousands of additional KrisFlyer miles each year.

The “lifestyle app” has progressively extended its reach across many popular (and admittedly some less well-known) outlets right across the country over the last few years.

Here’s the latest list of all Kris+ merchants and their respective regular earn rates, before credit card points and miles are accounted for.

Summary

You may want to hold off making big purchases at electronics stores until the 24th – 27th November 2023 weekend, with Kris+ tripling its regular earn rate to 3 mpd at Audio House, Challenger, Harvey Norman, iStudio and Parisilk.

On top of up to 4 mpd with your credit card, this could see you net a lucrative 7 mpd on this spend over the Black Friday – Cyber Monday period.

These retailers specialise in some rather high ticket items, like computers and electrical goods, so this tripling of the usual KrisPay earn rate is potentially a nice boost over and above your usual credit card points.

There’s also a double miles earning at KrisShop via Kris+ to look out for (3 mpd), which potentially opens up a 6 mpd credit card option in addition, in the form of the UOB Lady’s cards.

  1. Is it correct that if we use UOB Lady’s Card to pay via Kris+, regardless of merchants paid vis Kris+, we will be awarded 6 miles when we choose the Travel category?

  2. Hi Andrew, thank you for the informative write up. What about for Amex Ascend card? Will the miles stack? Meaning u earn on both Kris+ and on the card itself through Apple Pay.
