HSBC has an interesting discount offer in its latest credit card promotions list, giving customers an instant discount of S$100 on eligible Cathay Pacific flights costing S$1,000 or more, right at the booking stage.
At the optimum spend level that’s equivalent to almost 10% off, but even for a more expensive fare of S$2,000 it represents a very nice 5% discount.

Unfortunately this promotion is capped, and is only valid for the first 250 bookings to use the discount code. That might make it worth locking in your booking as soon as possible if you’re interested, while there are still redemptions left.
How it works
To benefit from the deal you’ll have to make an eligible Cathay Pacific booking between 28th February 2024 and 6th March 2024, though we expect the limit of 250 redemptions might well be exhausted sooner than that – so the earlier the better.
- Eligible flights: One-way or round-trip flights originating from Singapore, with flights marketed and operated by Cathay Pacific.
- Destinations: Bangkok, Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai, Taipei, Tokyo, Osaka, Seoul, Auckland, Sydney, Melbourne, Paris, Frankfurt, Madrid, Milan, Zurich and Amsterdam.
- Travel Period: 28th February 2024 to 30th September 2024.
- Booking: Via the Cathay Pacific website here. Payment must be made using a Singapore-issued HSBC credit card.

Enter the discount code CXHSBC100, which is pre-populated via the link above, when searching your itinerary.

The discount of S$100 on the total ticket cost will be reflected at the payment stage, provided your itinerary exceeds S$1,000 before any taxes, applicable fees/charges and carrier surcharges are added (so in reality, your total trip cost has to be a bit more than S$1,000 for this to work).

Don’t make the mistake of thinking this is only good for travel to Hong Kong. While your ticket must originate in Singapore, your destination can be one of 16 other cities on the network as shown above (you’ll have to transit in Hong Kong, of course).
These include Amsterdam, Tokyo, Osaka, Taipei and Seoul.
You can use the discount code more than once, provided it has not been exhausted, so for a trip of S$2,000+ before taxes for two passengers, it may be best to make two separate bookings using your HSBC card and apply the discount code for each one, saving you S$200 in total.
The discount code is only eligible for use when booking the following cabin classes and fare codes:
- Economy Class (O, Q, N, S, V, L, M, K, H, B, Y)
- Premium Economy Class (E, R, W)
- Business Class (I, P, D, C, J)
As far as we can see, this includes all Cathay Pacific fare types (Light, Essential and Flex) in all three cabin classes. Note that First Class (F, A) is not included in the offer.

Summary
HSBC credit card holders in Singapore get a nice S$100 discount on a one-way or round-trip full fare Cathay Pacific itinerary departing from Changi Airport to one of 17 destinations worldwide, provided the total cost before taxes comes to S$1,000 or more.
That’s potentially good for close to 10% off and could be well worth locking in if you have travel plans coming up with the airline between now and the end of September 2024.
Do note that the discount is only applicable for the first 250 bookings using the promotional code CXHSBC100, so you might want to act sooner rather than later to ensure you can take advantage.
The code is good for use until 6th March 2024, but we expect it will probably be exhausted before that (no harm in trying though!).
