There are five ‘status tiers’ within the Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer programme. When you first sign up, which is instant and free, you’ll be at the basic membership level ‘KrisFlyer’.
Climbing through the status levels is achieved by earning ‘Elite Miles’, and later ‘PPS Value’ to achieve the highest recognition levels. They are both only achieved by flying on full-fare tickets (not award redemption flights) with Singapore Airlines, Scoot, Star Alliance carriers or selected partner airlines.
In the case of ‘PPS Value’, this is only accrued flying on Singapore Airlines flights, not Star Alliance or partner carriers, though being on a codeshare flight number is still ok, as long as the flight is operated by SIA. Note that ‘PPS Value’ is not earned in Premium Economy or Economy Class. More on that later.

PPS Value
Before we introduce the highest two tiers in the programme, it’s important to define what ‘PPS Value’ is, as it’s no longer just miles flown which are required to qualify into these next two status categories.
When you fly in Singapore Airlines Suites, First Class or Business Class, you earn PPS Value, which all goes towards your PPS Club status.
PPS Value is based on your total airfare and applicable surcharge, but not airport taxes. It’s calculated in Singapore dollars, so if you’ve bought your ticket in another currency, the airfare and surcharge portions are converted to Singapore dollars to determine your PPS Value.
A couple of important points, redemption flights using KrisFlyer miles are not eligible, and if you use the ‘part-pay with miles’ option, you’ll only earn PPS Value on the amount you pay with your credit/debit card.
Importantly, you don’t earn PPS Value in premium economy or economy class.
