DBS has launched a new miles-earning offer for Expedia hotel bookings made through the bank’s own DBS Travel & Leisure Marketplace portal, with an additional 3 mpd on pre-paid bookings, increasing the usual earn rate for these transactions as high as 7 mpd with some cards.

The additional 3 mpd award is applicable for the first S$5,000 of monthly spend in this category, which is up to 15,000 bonus miles per month.

This offer comes after DBS scrapped its year-round 6 mpd Expedia earn rate for Altitude, Vantage and Insignia cards earlier this year.

DBS Expedia 3 mpd bonus offer

DBS is offering a bonus 3 mpd on Agoda hotel bookings made via its DBS Travel & Leisure Marketplace (TMP) site, when making payment with one of the following miles-earning credit cards:

To be eligible, you’ll need to comply with the following terms:

• Charge a pre-paid Agoda stay via the DBS TMP site to one of the eligible cards, where payment is made to Expedia at the time of booking
• Book between now and 30th November 2024
• Stay between now and 31st January 2025
• 3 mpd bonus miles capped at S$5,000 spend per calendar month (primary and supplementary cards under the same card account share the same cap)

To complete your booking via the TMP portal, you’ll have to log in to your DBS banking account.

You can then select which DBS card you wish to use to make payment, so be sure to select the one with the best base earn rate, which you’ll receive in addition to the 3 mpd bonus.

Initially, you will accrue miles at your card’s regular earn earn rate for these transactions.

The 3 mpd bonus will be awarded to your card account within 60 days after the transaction month, for example by 1st November 2024 for a August 2024 booking.

Total earning

DBS TMP transactions are all in Singapore Dollars, and so will earn base miles at your eligible card’s local earn rate, before the 3 mpd bonus is applied.

Here’s how the total miles earning looks for this promotion, for the most popular miles-earning DBS credit cards.

Do note that the DBS WWMC card’s S$1,500 monthly cap for 4 mpd earning is quite a bit lower than the S$5,000 monthly cap for the bonus 3 mpd rate under this promotion.

While it has the best overall earn rate of 7 mpd, it will therefore only work for hotel bookings of up to S$1,500 per calendar month, and that assumes you aren’t using the card’s bonus category for anything else.

Alternative Expedia and Agoda discounts

DBS also has an alternative Expedia offer with 8%-12% off hotel bookings, depending on the card you hold, while picking up your card’s regular earn rate (not the bonus 3 mpd mentioned above).

• DBSSG8: 8% off selected hotel bookings (terms)
• ALT10: 10% off selected hotel bookings with the DBS Altitude Card, with a min. spend of S$300 (terms)
• ALT12: 12% off selected hotel bookings with the DBS Altitude Card, with a min. spend of S$550 (terms)

For the DBSSG8 code, bookings must be made via this link by 31st December 2024, for stays by 30th June 2025.

For the ALT10 and ALT12 codes, bookings must be made here by 31st August 2024, for stays completed by 31st March 2025. However, redemptions are limited, with an overall cap of 400 redemptions across all users per code.

There’s also an alternative Agoda promotion currently running for DBS cardholders, where you’ll get 7% off worldwide hotel stays, with no minimum spend and no upper cap, while still earning your card’s base miles rate.

This one is for bookings through a specific landing page at the Agoda site.

Citi PremierMiles Agoda 7 mpd & Kaligo 10 mpd

If you have a Citi PremierMiles card, the bank has also a longstanding agreement with Kaligo (10 mpd) and Agoda (7 mpd) for 2024.

These offers are good for bookings made up to 31st December 2024, for stays until 30th June 2025 (Kaligo) or 30th April 2025 (Agoda).

DBS is offering a 3 mpd bonus on up to S$5,000 of hotel stay bookings made with Expedia via its own DBS Travel & Leisure Marketplace portal between now and 30th November 2024.

That means you can accrue up to 7 mpd on some cards for these stays, making this a deal worth checking alongside direct booking options and other credit card hotel discount promotions currently running, when researching your next trip.

Do note that the deal is capped at S$5,000 per calendar month, and that the base earn rate of 4 mpd on the most competitive card to pair with the offer – the DBS WWMC – will be hit first at S$1,500 spend.

Always remember the golden rule – check the best available rate directly with the hotel of your choice and other online travel agents like Expedia, as you may find you are paying more to accrue miles with these other sites.

If there’s a cost per mile involved with these promotions, it should always be justifiable within your personal limits before committing.
