KrisFlyer Birthday Bonus: Up to 2,000 extra miles when you fly

Extended for 2025: Take a paid SIA or Scoot flight during your birthday month, or up to two months later, and get up to 2,000 bonus KrisFlyer miles.

Over the last few years, KrisFlyer has run a bonus miles promotion for members flying on or around their birthday, offering up to 2,000 extra miles on any paid Singapore Airlines or Scoot flight. This is a particularly nice boost for Scoot itineraries, which typically earn relatively few miles to begin with.

The good news is this promotion, first introduced in 2023 and extended through 2024, has now been renewed for another year. That means if you’re planning to travel on or around your birthday in 2025, it’s definitely worth keeping this one in mind.

It’s a deal I only actually stumbled on by accident, but one I may well try to repeat again this year too, probably with a Scoot trip.

Extended for 2025: Birthday Bonus Miles

Singapore Airlines has confirmed to Mainly Miles that its 2023 and 2024 Birthday Bonus Miles promotion has been extended for the whole of 2025, with exactly the same mechanics as last year.

Members will receive an email on or around their birthday outlining the offer, but don’t worry if you miss it – you’ll be eligible regardless.

The deal means that for at least the whole of 2025, Singapore Airlines is offering KrisFlyer and PPS Club members bonus miles when travelling on a paid SIA or Scoot flight during their birthday month, or the subsequent two calendar months.

Here’s how the gift is offered, based on your KrisFlyer or PPS Club membership tier.

KrisFlyer Birthday Gift
  Birthday Gift
When you fly
KF Member 1,000 bonus miles
KF Elite Silver 1,500 bonus miles
KF Elite Gold 1,500 bonus miles
PPS Club
Solitaire PPS Club
2,000 bonus miles

The bonus is applicable when you travel on at least one SIA or Scoot flight segment fully paid using cash, so it’s not offered when you travel on a redemption booking, part pay using miles, or use a voucher towards the cash component.

One-way itineraries are included, but codeshare flights are not eligible for the reward.

Your travel date must fall between the first day of your birthday month and the last day of the second month following it.

For example, if your birthday is on 27th April the bonus will be awarded for an eligible flight taken between 1st April and 30th June, giving you a three-month window to benefit.

Here’s how the bonus looks when credited to your KrisFlyer account, based on a trip I took in 2023.

You can only earn the birthday bonus once, on the first eligible sector falling within your three-month “birthday window”.

Bonus miles are awarded within four weeks of completion of your flight.

The date of booking is not relevant to the promotion – so if you have a paid Scoot or SIA flight coming up within your future three-month “birthday window” it will automatically generate the bonus award, even if you booked last year, for example.

Miles credited from the birthday bonus promotion have a standard three-year validity, also currently applicable to regularly-earned KrisFlyer miles, so there’s no rush to redeem them.

Full terms and conditions for the 2025 Birthday Bonus deal can be found here.

You can find full up-to-date details of all KrisFlyer Elite Silver and Gold earning and benefits, and PPS Club earning and benefits, in our dedicated articles linked below.

As mentioned in our full guide, if you’re a Solitaire PPS Club member, you can also take advantage of the ‘unwritten perk’ of a complimentary upgrade on Singapore Airlines when flying on your actual birthday, or +/- one day, subject to commercial availability.

The Scoot inclusion makes this a nice deal

The inclusion of Scoot is quite useful here.

While it is rarely worth paying extra to fly with SIA’s low-cost division compared to competitors like AirAsia and Jetstar purely to earn KrisFlyer miles or Elite miles, given the low accrual rate offered (S$1 = 1 mile, or S$1 = 1.25 miles for Elite members), that equation changes slightly during this three-month period of the year.

With either 1,000, 1,500 or 2,000 extra miles on offer – paying a bit more to fly Scoot, or perhaps accepting a slightly less ideal timing than you might initially choose, can make good sense to help top up your KrisFlyer miles balance and still take a cheap regional flight from A to B.

Scoot is a good way to earn this bonus.

In my example from 2023, I had planned to book a Jetstar flight from Penang to Singapore because it was cheaper, and frankly I personally prefer both Jetstar and AirAsia over Scoot, but on that occasion the Scoot timing worked out better for me.

I didn’t even know about the birthday bonus, having glanced over the email sent from SIA and clearly disregarded it!

Well I’m glad I booked Scoot in the end, because I might otherwise have missed out on the 1,500 bonus miles I received, and the fare was only around S$10 more. Even in the worst case, these miles are worth S$10 against a future purchase at a Kris+ merchant, if I choose to transfer them to Kris+ (which I certainly won’t be doing!).

Do remember to ensure your KrisFlyer membership details are included on your Scoot (or SIA) booking in order for the entire process to be automated, otherwise you will have to make a retroactive mileage claim within one month of travel to still benefit from the birthday bonus.

Summary

Whichever date your birthday falls on in 2025, Singapore Airlines will offer you at least 1,000 bonus miles as a KrisFlyer member for taking any paid SIA or Scoot flight during your birthday month, or in the subsequent two calendar months.

That’s a relatively generous three-month window to take advantage, and the bonus is hiked to 1,500 miles for KrisFlyer Elite members (Silver and Gold), and to 2,000 miles for PPS Club members.

Scoot is where the best value potentially lies with this one – significantly hiking your miles accrual on the low-cost carrier for the majority of routes where the usual S$1 = 1 mile / 1.25 miles earning is somewhat lacklustre.
