Back in December last year, we took a deep dive into the busiest routes on Singapore Airlines passenger network, highlighting which cities had returned to or exceeded pre-COVID capacity – and, on the flip side, which were still lagging behind.
Surprisingly Tokyo was one point on the network that fell into the latter category, with only five out of six daily flights restored to the network, and an even bigger void evident in Business Class, with capacity in that cabin down by 28% compared to late 2019, due to smaller aircraft being used.
The good news is that the situation will be temporarily addressed for the peak winter travel season in December 2025, with a short-term restoration of the sixth daily service, including generous saver award space for the time of year.
The schedule
Here’s how SIA’s Tokyo schedule looks during the upcoming northern winter scheduling season, with newly-reinstated SQ630/639 services between Singapore and Haneda Airport during December 2025 highlighted.

Sadly the new timing isn’t the best – with a 1am arrival into Tokyo and a 2am departure from the Japanese capital, making for some ‘interesting’ transport and hotel arrangements!
As you can see, Singapore Airlines will be offering its 2018 Regional Business Class on the Boeing 787-10 on these additional SQ630/639 flights, making it the primary seat type in this cabin on the route.

Only one daily flight to and from Narita (SQ12/11), and one daily flight to and from Haneda (SQ636/631), offers the more spacious 2013 long-haul Business Class.
Tokyo award redemption rates
These are the KrisFlyer miles needed for the Singapore – Tokyo route, based on the latest award rates.

Some award space has been loaded
Since these flights were only recently added to the schedule, some decent Business Class Saver award space has been loaded, which is quite a rarity in December to and from Tokyo.
At the time of writing, with 36 Saver Award seats now loaded up and ready for redemption in the Business Class cabin on these SQ630/639 flights during its three-week operating stint.
In some cases, up to six immediately-confirmable Business Class Saver awards for KrisFlyer members (PPS Club members may see more generous availability).

Here’s how the Saver Business availability looks on these additional flights, as of 18th May 2025.

Business Class saver options in the Tokyo – Singapore direction are more limited, but don’t forget award space is dynamic – it comes and goes. Don’t fall for the myth that “once the Savers are gone, they’re gone”, or “someone needs to cancel for space to come up now” – neither of these are the case.
Saver space can be added even the day before departure – so keep checking!
Simply run your own search to find out what’s available right now (we sadly don’t have time to keep this table up to date – it’s a snapshot only).
Some dates also have Advantage Business Class award seats loaded for immediate confirmation, if you’re willing to stump up the 18,000 additional KrisFlyer miles each way. We haven’t shown Advantage award space on SQ630/639 flights in the table above.
Summary
The temporarily reinstated SQ630/639 service between Singapore and Tokyo Haneda in December this year may not boast the most convenient timings, but it’s a welcome capacity boost on one of Singapore Airlines’ most popular routes – especially during the busy December travel period.
For KrisFlyer members, the real headline here is the surprisingly generous Saver award availability on these additional flights – a rare find during Japan’s peak travel season.
Even if your preferred date doesn’t currently show award space, don’t give up hope; redemptions can open up closer to departure, though don’t expect Spontaneous Escapes deals to Tokyo in December! Lock in at saver rates now, if you can.
