Most of our regular readers are familiar with Pelago, Singapore Airlines’ own Klook-like “travel experiences platform” launched in late 2020, offering a range of activities and attraction tickets both in Singapore and overseas at SIA destinations like Bangkok, Phuket, Sydney and London.

Now Pelago has launched a limited-time promotion offering KrisFlyer members the chance to earn up to 5,000 bonus miles on overseas travel activity and experience bookings.

“Out of Office” promotion

The “Out of Office” promotion runs from 21st July 2025 to 31st July 2025 and provides two tiers of bonus miles earning opportunities, based on your spending threshold:

BEYONDSG5 (500 bonus miles)

• Minimum spend: S$80
• Bonus miles: 500 KrisFlyer miles
• Usage limit: Two times per member

BEYONDSG2K (2,000 bonus miles)

• Minimum spend: S$300
• Bonus miles: 2,000 KrisFlyer miles
• Usage limit: Two times per member

Both promo codes can be used twice per member, meaning you could potentially earn up to 5,000 bonus miles (1,000 + 4,000) if you maximise both offers during the promotion period.

Remember that while your eligible bookings must be made between 21st July 2025 and 31st July 2025, they can be for future-dated activities.

Key terms and restrictions

Eligible destinations: All activities except those in Singapore are eligible for this promotion.

Earning structure: The bonus miles are awarded in addition to Pelago’s standard earning rate of 3 KrisFlyer miles per S$1 spent (3 mpd). For example, a S$300 booking would earn 900 base miles, plus 2,000 bonus miles, for a total of 2,900 miles.

Important limitations:

• Promo codes cannot be stacked with other Pelago promotions
• Not applicable on the Kris+ app (currently offering 5 mpd for Pelago bookings, so factor in some base miles earning loss there)
• Selected product exclusions apply (check Pelago’s exclusions page)
• Limited redemptions available (the promo codes will stop working once expired)
• Bonus miles credited within seven days after activity completion

How to claim the bonus miles

1. Browse overseas activities on Pelago’s website or app
2. Add activities totalling your desired spend threshold to the cart
3. Enter promo code BEYONDSG5 or BEYONDSG2K at checkout
4. Ensure your KrisFlyer membership number is entered correctly
5. Complete your booking and activity

You must be a valid KrisFlyer member both at booking time and when completing the activity to receive the bonus miles.

Maximising value

The 2,000 bonus miles for S$300 spend offers better value at 6.67 bonus mpd compared to 6.25 bonus mpd for the lower 500 bonus miles for S$80 spend tier.

With each code usable twice, you may be able to plan your overseas activities across multiple bookings to maximise your bonus miles earning at 5,000 KrisFlyer miles in total (2 x 500 miles + 2 x 2,000 miles).

Kris+ vs Pelago direct: The trade-off

An important consideration is that this promotion requires booking directly through Pelago’s website or app, excluding the Kris+ platform which currently offers a superior 5 mpd base earning rate compared to Pelago’s 3 mpd.

This means the “bonus” miles aren’t quite as generous as they initially appear when compared to your alternative booking method:

S$300 booking example:

• Pelago direct: 900 base miles + 2,000 bonus = 2,900 total miles
• Kris+ alternative: 1,500 base miles (no bonus available)
• Net bonus over Kris+: 1,400 miles (not 2,000 miles!)

S$500 booking example:

• Pelago direct: 1,500 base miles + 2,000 bonus = 3,500 total miles
• Kris+ alternative: 2,500 base miles
• Net bonus over Kris+: 1,000 miles (not 2,000 miles!)

The break-even point: For bookings of S$1,000 or higher, the 2 mpd difference in base earning (2,000+ miles) outweighs the 2,000 bonus miles, making Kris+ the better choice for maximum miles earning.

Which card to use

Pelago’s payment provider uses the following Merchant Category Code (MCC) when processing credit card payments:

Pelago bookings via Kris+ also qualify as online transactions, allowing you to earn up to an additional 4 mpd through your credit card rewards, in addition to the base 3 mpd earning directly from Pelago and the bonus miles offered during this promotion.

Don’t use your Citi Rewards card for Pelago bookings, since MCC 4722 falls under the travel category, specifically excluded from earning the 4 mpd rate for online spend with that card.

It will therefore only earn 0.4 mpd, so it’s probably much better in that case to use your best general spend card, assuming you don’t have one of the above options, or have already hit your monthly bonus cap with these other cards.

Do note that the HSBC Revolution card also no longer awards bonus points for MCC 4722 transactions, since 1st January 2024, even during a short-term restoration of some bonus miles earning categories between now and the end of October 2025 – so avoid that one too.

This Pelago promotion offers decent bonus miles for KrisFlyer members planning overseas activities, particularly for smaller to medium-sized bookings where the bonus miles outweigh the lower base earning rate compared to Kris+.

The sweet spot there appears to be bookings between S$300-800, where the bonus miles still provide meaningful value over the Kris+ 5 mpd alternative.

The promotion runs until 31 July 2025, so act quickly if you have overseas activities planned and want to boost your KrisFlyer balance. Just remember to compare both pricing and total miles earning potential across activities and experiences platforms like Klook before you book, to ensure you’re getting the best deal overall.
