It’s been nearly three years since Singapore Airlines wielded the devaluation knife over its KrisFlyer award charts, so it comes as little surprise that the carrier is once again raising redemption rates. The latest changes have now been announced, and will take effect from 1st November 2025.
While there are some award rate reductions this time round for Economy Class Saver awards, for the most part rates are increasing – by between 5% and 20%.
However, just like in previous devaluations there’s a grace period – allowing you to book within the next 10 weeks or so to lock in current rates while they are still available – until 31st October 2025.
Remember this allows you to secure future flights for travel over the next year, right through to mid October 2026, provided you have reasonably firm travel plans in mind.
Effective 1st November 2025, KrisFlyer will adjust its miles redemption and upgrade award charts across Singapore Airlines, Star Alliance airlines, and partner airlines flights. This marks the first adjustment since July 2022.
Singapore Airlines
Singapore Airlines will also start to dabble with dynamic award pricing, by introducing a separate new redemption option called Access, allowing members to secure confirmed seats using miles at rates that vary based on demand.
Key points
Here are the main devaluation headlines this time round.
- Some Economy Class Saver redemption rates in the Asia and Southwest Pacific zones have reduced by around 5%.
- Scoot’s new fixed-price awards are not changing
- Business Class and First Class Saver awards see a 5% increase for most flights, though Zone 10 (Africa, Middle East & Turkey) sees a bigger hike of 10% to 20%.
- Advantage award rates across are increasing by 10% to 18% almost across the board.
- Revised mileage rates come into effect for bookings made on or after 1st November 2025, so you still have almost ten weeks to book at current rates.
- Waitlist awards that clear and are booked prior to 1st November 2025 will be charged at the current rates. Those that clear on or after that date will attract the higher rates.
- Star Alliance awards and partner airline award rates will increase.

Saver Award Rate Increases
Selected Saver award redemptions booked on or after 1st November 2025 will see some changes in award rates, most of which are increases. The following tables show the increases for one-way redemptions to and from Singapore.
Economy
Economy Class Saver awards are a mixed bag in this revision to miles rates – with shorter routes falling in price by 4-6%, but longer ones seeing 5-10% hikes.

The slight reduction in Economy Saver award rates on regional routes is of course welcome, and brings them a little closer to the (much lower) Scoot Economy Basic award rates recently launched.

Heading further afield in the Economy Class cabin will come with a higher price sadly – Singapore to Europe and the USA sees a 5% increase, while Cape Town, Johannesburg, Dubai and Istanbul will set you back 10% more miles.

As our regular readers know, we generally advise against Premium Economy redemptions, given how uncomfortably close the rates are to Business Class Saver awards – despite the vast difference in comfort and experience.
Nonetheless if it is a redemption you favour the pattern here is similar – around 5% increases across the board, but a whopping 20% for those Singapore – Cape Town, Johannesburg, Dubai and Istanbul routes.
Business Class
This is the biggest hit in our opinion – those valuable Business Saver award rates are suffering an increase ranging from 5% to 20%, depending on the zone.

For a Singapore – Europe Business Class redemption that means forking out 5,000 more miles from 1st November (108,500 miles is now the one-way Saver rate).
The fact that you can fly to Europe on Finnair for 62,500 Avios with no fuel surcharges in their fantastic new Business Class cabin certainly shines a light on increasing disparity between KrisFlyer and other programmes here.
Even for shorter routes like Singapore – Sydney, a Business Saver will set you back an additional 3,500 KrisFlyer miles each way.
The most significant hit is for Zone 10 redemptions, which will hike the cost of Business Class savers to the likes of Johannesburg, Cape Town and Istanbul from 56,500 miles (currently a relative ‘sweet spot’) to a painful 68,000 miles each way.

Star Alliance award rate increases
There will also be increases across the board to SIA’s KrisFlyer Star Alliance award charts from 1st November 2025. These awards will cost 5-12% more miles, breaking long-held parity with SIA flights on some key routes like Singapore – Bangkok and Singapore – London in both Economy Class and Business Class.
New award charts
You can compare the award rates on Singapore Airlines, including for zone combinations we haven’t mentioned here, by downloading SIA’s current and future award charts via the following links.
- SIA KrisFlyer redemptions (until 31st October 2025)
- SIA KrisFlyer redemptions (from 1st November 2025)
Here’s the ‘before and after’ for upgrade awards on SIA:
- SIA KrisFlyer upgrade awards (until 31st October 2025)
- SIA KrisFlyer upgrade awards (from 1st November 2025)
Star Alliance redemption charts look like this:
- SIA KrisFlyer Star Alliance awards (until 31st October 2025)
- SIA KrisFlyer Star Alliance awards (from 1st November 2025)
Partner award rates will also be increased
Unfortunately the new award rates also apply when redeeming KrisFlyer miles with partner airlines like Garuda Indonesia, Juneyao Airlines and Virgin Australia. See the new charts via this link for detailed rates from 1st November 2025.

Avoiding (or postponing) the increases
Your only solution to avoid these KrisFlyer rate increases (for the time being) is to lock in your redemptions now – or at least by 31st October 2025. That way you’ll still benefit from the existing rates.
Singapore Airlines is being quite generous here with 10 weeks’ notice provided – more than double the timescale offered in previous devaluations.
If you have to make changes later to your redemption ticket, with the exception of date changes, you will unfortunately have to pay the additional miles in this case. That’s a shame, and means you’ll want to have relatively certain travel plans, which can be difficult a year in advance.
It also means if you hold an award redemption ticket now (even one issued in 2024) and make changes on or after 1st November 2025, you’ll also be asked to stump up any applicable miles difference.
If you do want to lock in some advance awards however, remember that award tickets are loaded 355 days before departure date at 8am Singapore time (SGT). Our full article on this topic has all the details.
That means you can be locking in redemptions right up to 21st October 2026 at current rates, if you redeem as soon as flights come up for redemption on 31st October 2025, provided you have sufficient miles (transfer them from credit card points now to take advantage), and of course assuming you’re able to make travel plans so far in advance.
It probably goes without saying, but if you’re eyeing a shorter Economy Class Saver award in Zones 1-9 (Asia and Southwest Pacific), you’ll want to try and postpone your booking until the lower rates for these flights kick in on 1st November 2025!
New Access dynamic pricing award redemptions
While we can all breathe a sigh of relief that Singapore Airlines is not switching to a fully dynamic pricing model for its award redemptions, the airline is introducing this award method as an additional option from 1st November 2025.

KrisFlyer will introduce “Access” – a new flight redemption option that provides more flexibility to secure confirmed seats using miles. Unlike traditional award seats with fixed rates, Access redemption pricing will be dynamic, varying based on demand and the time of year.
The Access redemption seats will be offered in addition to the award seats, providing members with more opportunities to use their miles and travel on their preferred flights.
Singapore Airlines
Importantly, this option will be offered in addition to Saver and Advantage award space – no need to panic yet about the programme going fully dynamic!
Singapore Airlines already offers a dynamic redemption option of sorts, in that you can redeem KrisFlyer miles for an SIA flight at a fixed (but poor) value of 1 cent per mile when offsetting any cash fare, so it will be interesting to see how this new Access award option works in practice.
The Access system certainly seems more likely to offer better value than that – but will it ever come close to the 2 cents+ value we aim to achieve when redeeming miles, and what value level will members be comfortable with, assuming it lies somewhere in between these two levels?
We’ll cover the option thoroughly once more details are available.
Summary
Singapore Airlines hasn’t increased mileage redemption rates since July 2022, so a devaluation was probably due after over three years.
It’s always disappointing for our readers to learn of another devaluation, but this time round some Economy Class awards are actually reducing in cost, while the increases for most award zones in other cabins are in the modest 5-10% band.
Some of the highest increases are for Zone 10 – Africa, Middle East & Turkey – as SIA continues to address the disparity that’s made award like Johannesburg, Cape Town and Istanbul ‘sweet spots’ over the years.
The good news is that we will still have the monthly ‘Spontaneous Escapes’ 30% discounts to take the edge off, for those last-minute travel plans.
There is a silver lining of course – you can lock in as many redemptions as you like (or are able to) up to a year in advance at the current rates, provided you book by 31st October 2025 at the latest, giving you nearly 10 weeks to act.
We will certainly be doing this – and you should too!

For future bookings, upto 12 months ahead, would it be possible or allowed to alter flight dates if necessary?
If done after Oct 31st they will charge you the higher rate.
