Back in July, Kris+ made one of its most wide-ranging cuts to earn rates at partners across Singapore, with 291 merchants seeing poorer accruals to coincide with the value of a KrisPay mile (but not a KrisFlyer mile!) being hiked by 50% to a fixed 1 cent each.
This softened the blow of the earn rate cuts for those who keep their KrisPay miles strictly within the Kris+ ecosystem, effectively as cashback for future purchases, but it was of little benefit to the majority of our readers who transfer to KrisFlyer miles for the best future redemption value – Business Class and First Class awards on SIA.
While we’d hoped last month’s reductions would mark the end of Kris+ earn rate cuts for now, the programme has unfortunately trimmed rates at a further 15 merchants. Many of these have shifted – rather sneakily – from 2 miles per S$1 to an expanding “2 miles per S$2” category.
That’s effectively a halving of the earn rate from 2 mpd to just 1 mpd, though it likely looks more palatable on the screen when you tap through the merchant details – and certainly makes the cut much easier to miss at a glance!
Let’s look at the impact.
Full list: Merchants cutting rates
Here’s the list of Kris+ merchants that have seen their earn rates cut since our last update in late July 2025.
Kris+ merchant rate cuts
| Merchant | Old rate | New rate |
| Ikkoten Omakase | 4 mpd | |
| Heveya | 3 mpd | |
| Cut Butchery | 0.33 mpd | |
| Simply Dreams | 2 mpd | |
| Bangkok Jam | 1 mpd | |
| Barossa Steak & Grill | 1 mpd | |
| Korio | 1 mpd | |
| SARAI | 1 mpd | |
| Suki-Ya | 1 mpd | |
| Suki-Ya KIN | 1 mpd | |
| Tajimaya Yakiniku | 1 mpd | |
| Tanglin Cookhouse | 1 mpd | |
| Typhoon Cafe | 1 mpd | |
| Vineyard | 1 mpd | |
| Love & Co. | 0.33 mpd |
The biggest impact is for Cut Butchery, previously a 4 mpd merchant but now slashing its rate by 92% to just 0.33 mpd (1 mile per S$3 spent).
All of the 10 merchants that switched from 2 mpd to 1 mpd, a 50% reduction in earning, have actually moved into that “2 miles per S$2” category we mentioned earlier – definitely one to watch out for, as it now affects 21 out of 39 merchants earning 1 mpd.

There are still over 140 merchants in the Kris+ earn programme earning 2 mpd – but keep an eye on them if they are on your regular list, because it seems Kris+ is making these changes to halve the earn rate without feeling the need to tell anyone!
Latest Kris+ earn rates
Here’s a summary of the total number of merchants by earn rate as of 18th September 2025, compared to our last update in late July 2025, with these earn rate cuts accounted for and some other merchant additions and removals.

Kris+ Earning Rates
| Earn Rate | Merchants | |
| 28 Jul 2025 | 18 Sep 2025 | |
| 9 mpd | 3 | 3 |
| 6 mpd | 42 | 41 |
| 5 mpd | 73 | 73 |
| 4 mpd | 48 | 47 |
| 3 mpd | 153 | 157 |
| 2 mpd | 141 | 146 |
| 1.5 mpd | 1 | 1 |
| 1 mpd | 26 | 39 |
| 0.5 mpd | 2 | 1 |
| 0.33 mpd | 2 | 4 |
| Total | 491 | 512 |
As you can see, the 1 mpd category (or “2 miles per S$2” in many cases) is getting a boost here!
- The average earn rate across all 512 Kris+ merchants is now 3.19 mpd, down from 3.27 mpd in late July 2025.
- The average earn rate across the 15 Kris+ merchants that cut their earn rate in this round has dropped from 2.63 mpd in late July 2025 to 1.37 mpd today.
Full list of Kris+ earning options
We’ve updated our full latest list of all Kris+ merchants and their respective regular earn rates, before credit card points and miles are accounted for.
With over 500 merchants on the list for the first time, there should be plenty of opportunity for you to accrue additional miles throughout the year on everyday spending, from a cup of coffee through to big-ticket items like furniture and electronics.
How to earn miles with Kris+ when purchasing
In-app payments are the only way to earn Kris+ miles when purchasing in-store at an earning partner.
The process is straightforward, just scan the merchant’s QR code and make payment using Apple Pay or Google Pay with your linked credit card.

The app then credits your miles instantly, which you should then transfer immediately to your KrisFlyer account.
You only have 21 days to do so (previously 7 days), before the miles are stuck in KrisPay, with a poor 1 cent rebate value against future purchases.
Our advice is to just do the transfer there and then, by pressing the Transfer to KrisFlyer button, in case you forget or partially use the earned miles by mistake before transferring, which also locks them into KrisPay miles permanently.
However, there’s now the option to auto-transfer accrued KrisPay miles to your KrisFlyer account without having to go through these additional clicks.

You can do so via the Wallet > Transfer to KrisFlyer page. Simply enable the ‘Auto-transfer to KrisFlyer’ button as shown above, and the process will be automated whenever you accrue KrisPay miles at a merchant.
Credit card points of up to 4 mpd are still in addition
One thing that’s thankfully not changing about Kris+ is that you’ll still accrue points or miles on your credit card for the spend made for in-app payment transactions, in some cases adding up to 4 mpd to the maximum 9 mpd Kris+ is dishing out, for up to 13 mpd total earning.
This depends on the credit card you hold and the merchant category (MCC code) of the retailer.
The following cards will earn at their bonus rates of between 3 mpd and 4 mpd for spend in the specific MCCs listed. You can check the MCC with the merchant in advance of your payment if you are unsure, though some are obvious (like restaurants – 5812).

Don’t use your Citi Rewards card to make payment with Apple Pay or Google Pay on Kris+, since online transactions using this card specifically exclude mobile wallet payments and will therefore earn at the basic rate of 0.4 mpd.
Unsure?
If you’re not sure whether your bonus miles credit card is eligible for the merchant of your choice, our advice is to use your best card for general spend miles accrual, especially if the transaction is substantial.
For smaller amounts you may wish to take the chance, but remember most bonus category spend credit cards earn just 0.4 mpd when you make transactions that the bank decides don’t qualify.
Summary
Kris+ continues to chip away at its earning potential, with this latest round of cuts affecting 15 merchants and dropping the programme’s average earn rate to 3.19 mpd. The shift to the “2 miles per S$2” presentation is a little concerning, as it makes many rate reductions much harder to spot at first glance.
While Cut Butchery’s dramatic 92% reduction stands out, the broader pattern of quietly halving earn rates from 2 mpd to 1 mpd across multiple partners suggests this trend might continue. With over 140 merchants still earning 2 mpd, keep a close eye on your favourite spots – they could be next.
The silver lining remains unchanged: you can still stack credit card earning on top of Kris+ rates for total returns of up to 13 mpd. Just remember to transfer those KrisPay miles to KrisFlyer within 21 days, or better yet, enable auto-transfer to avoid the hassle entirely.
For now, Kris+ still offers decent value for everyday spending, but the programme’s direction is clear – earn rates are trending downward, even after the big July 2025 cut, so make the most of the higher-earning merchants while they last.
