The UOB Visa Infinite Metal card doesn’t rank as one of the better high income options on the market in Singapore – even after some enhancements were made in mid-2023, unlimited DragonPass lounge visits face the chop from June next year.
In addition, UOB has now also cut the generous sign-up bonus for this card from 80,000 miles to 60,000 miles, for approvals through to the end of 2025.
Nonetheless, this still provides new-to-bank customers the chance to purchase a significant number of miles at a competitive 1.09 cents each.
Meanwhile, existing UOB cardholders still receive a smaller 40,000-mile bonus, which comes at a higher cost of 1.64 cents per mile, but new-to-bank status now requires 12 months without a UOB card – double the previous threshold.
Up to 60,000 miles sign-up bonus
UOB is offering an uncapped total bonus of 40,000 miles or 60,000 miles for new Visa Infinite Metal cardholders between 1st October 2025 and 31st December 2025, subject to payment of the S$654 annual fee and a spend of S$4,000+ in the first 30 days of card membership.

The bonus miles structure is outlined in the following table, based on whether you are an existing UOB primary cardholder or not.
UOB VI Metal
Sign-up bonus earning
| New to UOB credit cards |
Existing UOB credit card holder |
|
| Payment of Annual Fee | 25,000 miles | 25,000 miles |
| Meet S$4,000 Spend Criteria | 35,000 miles | 15,000 miles |
| Total award | 60,000 miles | 40,000 miles |
Your card must be applied for and approved within the promotion period (i.e. between 1st October 2025 and 31st December 2025) to be eligible for the bonus.
UOB defines ‘new-to-bank’ customers as those who:
- do not currently hold any principal UOB credit card(s); and
- have not cancelled any principal UOB credit card(s) within 12 months prior to the commencement of the promotion period (1st October 2025).
Note that this is a doubling of the time you need to be UOB-card-free to qualify as new-to-bank compared to previous welcome bonuses for the Visa Infinite Metal Card, when 6 months was the norm.
For example, if you cancelled your last primary UOB credit card on or before 30th September 2024, you’ll be considered as a new-to-bank customer again and will be able to tap the 60,000 bonus miles offer in this case.
If you are a supplementary UOB credit card holder, but not a primary cardholder on any such account since 30th September 2024, you will also qualify as a new-to-bank customer.
UOB offers VI Metal cardholders a first supplementary card free for life, after which subsequent supplementary cards are available at an annual fee of S$293.38.
Regular earn rates are in addition
These bonus miles will be awarded in addition to the regular miles you will accrue anyway to meet the S$4,000 spend as part of the sign-up bonus.
Your total earning (including the sign-up bonus) during this promotion, will be at least 65,600 miles as a new customer or 45,600 miles as a new customer, assuming local spend.
UOB VI Metal
Total promotion earning
| New to UOB credit cards |
Existing UOB credit card holder |
|
| Sign-up bonus | 60,000 miles | 40,000 miles |
| Miles for S$4,000 local spend (1.4 mpd) |
5,600 miles | 5,600 miles |
| Total | 65,600 miles | 45,600 miles |
You’ll do even better than this by tapping into the card’s 2.4 mpd overseas earn rate for the minimum spend during the first 30 days of card membership.
For example as a new-to-bank cardholder with S$4,000 of FCY retail spend in the first 30 days, you’re looking at 9,600 miles for the spend itself, for a grand total of 69,600 miles.
That’s enough for a saver Business Class awards from Singapore to Sydney or Melbourne.

Cost per mile
Here’s how the cost per mile stacks up for simply signing up for the card (no spend requirement), or for meeting the S$4,000 spend requirement in the first 30 days as either an existing or new UOB credit card customer.
UOB VI Metal
Cost per mile
| Total bonus | Cost per mile | |
| Annual fee only (no spend requirement) |
25,000 miles | 2.62 cents |
| With S$4,000 spend (existing UOB cardholder) |
40,000 miles | 1.64 cents |
| With S$4,000 spend (new-to-bank) |
60,000 miles | 1.09 cents |
This is based on payment of the (non-waivable) first year annual fee of S$654.
It’s clearly not worth signing up for this card if you aren’t going to participate in the bonus miles for S$4,000+ spend promotion, since the 25,000 miles you’ll receive for payment of the annual fee means buying miles at 2.62 cents each (assuming you don’t place any value on the other perks).
However, with the bonus miles in play for S$4,000 spend it may be worth considering if you’re a new UOB customer, buying 60,000 miles at 1.09 cents each.
Eligible spend
In order to unlock the bonus miles element for spending S$4,000 in the first 30 days (15,000 additional miles for existing customers and 55,000 additional miles for new customers), your spend must fall outside exclusion categories.
These are listed in the terms and conditions document (see section 1.6), with exclusions such as:
- Insurance
- Charitable donations
- Government payments
- Gambling transactions
- Hospitals
- Insurance payments
- Utilities payments
- UOB Payment Facility
While spend at hospitals was been added to the exclusion list effective from October 2024, do note that UOB does not exclude education from its list of eligible transactions. CardUp spend is also included.
Spend made by supplementary cardholders will pool together with that of the primary cardholder when determining the S$4,000 minimum spend.
Which FFPs?
UOB doesn’t have a particularly extensive list of transfer partners in Singapore.
You can transfer UNI$ into:
- Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer
- Cathay Pacific Asia Miles
- airasia points

The only ones worth considering here are KrisFlyer and Asia Miles, since airasia points work on a very poor value cashback basis.
When will the bonus be credited?
Initially you will earn UNI$ at the regular rate for local or FCY transactions for your spend on this card. You will also get:
- 25,000 miles (UNI$12,500) when your S$654 annual fee is posted.
Then, subject to at least S$4,000 of eligible spend in the first 30 days, you will receive:
- An additional 35,000 miles (new customer) or 15,000 miles (existing customer), as UNI$17,500 or UNI$7,500 respectively, two months after your S$654 annual fee is posted.

The major downsides of this card for a high income category option include a lack of complimentary airport transfer service, and UOB’s annoying S$5 earning blocks (spend S$4.99 and walk away empty handed).

Summary
UOB has cut its sign-up bonus miles offer for those taking out its Visa Infinite Metal Card from 80,000 miles to 60,000 miles, with the latest deal good for approvals by 31st December 2025.
It’s also worth noting that to be eligible for the maximum bonus, new-to-bank status is required, now extended from six months without a UOB card to 12 months.
There’s still no upper application cap – everyone is eligible for paying the first year annual fee of S$654, and meeting a S$4,000 spend in the first 30 days.
The card’s key benefit – unlimited lounge access for you and one guest – will be reduced to 12 annual visits from June 2026, but if you get the card now you can score around eight months of unlimited access before needing to worry about that.
If you’re not a principal UOB cardholder or haven’t been since 30th September 2024, it could be worth considering this deal, though it’s not nearly as generous as before.
