Back in late August, we rolled out our seasonal schedule update covering SIA’s passenger services for the northern winter season, including the surprise news that twice-weekly non-stop Singapore – Barcelona flights would be temporarily suspended for over a month between early February and early March 2026.
That plan saw the airline extend its daily Singapore – Milan flight to Barcelona five times per week instead of three, to compensate for the reduction, but now there’s a partial reversal to report in the latest schedule update.
However, some other Europe routes are still seeing capacity cuts this winter, including London Heathrow, Munich and Rome.
Non-stop Singapore – Barcelona maintained in February 2026
Singapore Airlines has now loaded a once-weekly non-stop flight to and from Barcelona during this period, but the bad news is that original plans to run five times weekly Barcelona via Milan flights the same month to address the temporary suspension have been scaled back – only the regular three times weekly flights on that routing will continue.

It will mean a reduction in overall Singapore – Barcelona flights from five per week to four (one non-stop and three via Milan), but at least the carrier’s sole non-stop option to and from Spain will continue year-round.
- SIA usual Barcelona schedule: 2/wk non-stop + 3/wk via Milan = 5/wk total
- SIA original February 2026 plan: No non-stop + 5/wk via Milan = 5/wk total
- SIA new February 2026 plan: 1/wk non-stop + 3/wk via Milan = 4/wk total
Non-stop flights to Barcelona save 2 hours 15 minutes travel time compared to SIA’s more regular service to the city via Milan.

Twice-weekly non-stop service to and from Barcelona remains scheduled for the summer 2026 season, with another peak period increase to five weekly flights planned from late June to early September, mirroring the pattern seen this year during the busiest European travel months.
As before, the Barcelona via Milan flights will be temporarily suspended during this period, removing the airline’s intra-Europe “fifth freedom” Milan – Barcelona service from the schedule during that time.
Daily Singapore – Milan flights are not significantly affected by these schedule changes – with SIA adjusting the frequency of its daily Singapore – Milan – Singapore terminator flights accordingly to ‘plug the gaps’ whenever the Barcelona via Milan flight frequencies are changed.
Schedules for SIA’s Barcelona (via Milan) and Milan routes are available below (click to expand).
KrisFlyer awards
Here are the current KrisFlyer award rates for the Singapore – Barcelona route, whether you take the non-stop flight or travel via Milan.

| KrisFlyer Redemption Singapore ⇄ Barcelona (redemptions till 31 Oct 2025) |
||
| Saver | Advantage | |
| Economy | 42,000 | 70,000 |
| Premium Economy | 71,000 | n/a |
| Business | 103,500 | 123,000 |
It hopefully hasn’t escaped your attention that Singapore Airlines is devaluing its KrisFlyer award chart for bookings made from 1st November 2025 onwards, just a few days from now, as we reported back in August.
For Europe flights, including Barcelona, here’s how award pricing changes for bookings made from 1st November 2025 onwards (new rates in bold). For waitlisted flights, if your waitlist clears on or after this date, the higher rate will apply, regardless of when you first joined the waitlist.

| KrisFlyer Redemption Singapore ⇄ Barcelona (redemptions from 1 Nov 2025) |
||
| Saver | Advantage | |
| Economy | 44,000 |
79,000 |
| Premium Economy | 74,500 |
n/a |
| Business | 108,500 |
141,500 |
Unfortunately, we’re only seeing immediately confirmable Advantage award space in Business Class on this route for the newly added operating days on the nonstop Barcelona flight. That said, it’s worth considering, as its current 123,000-mile rate is set to jump sharply to 141,500 miles for bookings from 1st November 2025.

In fact, today’s Business Advantage rate of 123,000 miles is only 14,500 miles higher than the upcoming Business Saver rate of 108,500 miles from November 2025 onwards, so even if Saver space opens up later, booking Advantage now wouldn’t have cost you all that many extra miles.
Other Europe routes still seeing cuts this winter
Despite the retention of one daily non-stop to Barcelona in the low season, Singapore Airlines is still programming some capacity reductions on several European routes this coming season.
- London Heathrow: Temporary reduction from four to three daily flights between mid-January and late February 2026.
- Munich: Dropping from daily to five times weekly in February 2026, a rare and notable 29% cut.
- Paris: Slight reduction from 11 to 10 weekly flights at intervals, around 6% less capacity than last winter.
- Rome: Cut from four to three weekly flights across most of the winter, a 25% reduction compared to last year.
Summary
Singapore Airlines’ decision to retain at least one weekly non-stop Barcelona flight during February 2026 is a welcome reversal for those preferring the shorter direct routing.
Though frequencies dip slightly, it’s still the fastest and most convenient way to reach Spain from Singapore, saving more than two hours each way compared to the Milan stopover, or indirect routings with other carriers like Emirates.
With KrisFlyer rates set to rise for bookings made from 1st November 2025, now is a good time to consider locking in any award bookings on routes like this.

Thanks for sharing this.
Does this mean the crew will have a 1 week rest time in BCN? That seems very generous by airline standards but I guess they don’t have much choice.
