Standard Chartered has launched a new promotion offering 0% foreign exchange fees on foreign currency spending for new cardholders of the Standard Chartered Visa Infinite and Priority Banking Visa Infinite credit cards.
The deal stacks with an ongoing 50,000 miles sign-up bonus for new cardholders, whether existing Standard Chartered credit card customers or not.
It is also available to selected existing cardholders, on a targeted basis.
Running from 15th January 2026 to 15th March 2026, this promotion effectively removes the usual 3.5% foreign currency transaction fee through a cashback mechanism, making it an attractive proposition if you’re travelling over the next couple of months or making online purchases in FCY.
SCVI 0% FX spend promotion
From 15th January 2026 to 15th March 2026, eligible cardholders can earn 3.5% cashback on foreign currency transactions charged to their Standard Chartered Visa Infinite cards. This cashback is specifically designed to offset:
- 1% Visa FCY transaction charge
- 2.5% administrative and conversion fee, levied by Standard Chartered
The result is effectively 0% foreign exchange fees on qualifying transactions, while still earning up to 3 mpd.
Here are the key elements of the deal.

| 0% FX spend promotion | |
| Term | Details |
| Promotion period | 15 Jan 2026 – 15 Mar 2026 |
| Eligible cards | • SC Visa Infinite • SC Priority Banking Visa Infinite |
| Registration required? | • New cardholders: No (auto-enrolled) • Existing cardholders: Yes (targeted) |

Normally the Standard Chartered Visa Infinite card has a 3.5% FCY fee, earning up to 3 mpd on FCY spend, which means a cost per mile of 1.22 cents for these transactions, also accounting for an additional 0.3% ‘spread’ over money changer currency rates for a worst-case scenario.
Under this promotion, up to S$2,286 of FCY spend will generate miles at up to 3 mpd (6,858 miles) effectively for free.
- The SCVI card earns 3 mpd on FCY transactions provided you spend at least S$2,000 in the same statement cycle.
- Note that the card earns 2 mpd on FCY transactions in statement months where you don’t hit the S$2,000 spend.
Things to note
If you hold both the Standard Chartered Visa Infinite and the Priority Banking Visa Infinite, only one card will be eligible for this promotion.
For existing cardholders, the invitation you receive will indicate which specific card is eligible. For new cardholders who happen to apply for both cards during the promotion period, the first card approved will be the one registered for the promotion.
Transactions made by supplementary cardholders on an eligible card will be attributed to the principal cardholder and count towards the S$80 cashback cap. However, supplementary cardholders cannot register independently for this promotion.
How to register
The registration process differs significantly between new and existing cardholders:
For new cardholders: If your Standard Chartered Visa Infinite card application is approved between 15th January 2026 and 15th March 2026, you’re automatically enrolled in this promotion. No registration action is required on your part.
For existing cardholders: This is a targeted promotion, meaning not all existing cardholders will be eligible. If you’ve been selected, you’ll receive an invitation through one of the following channels:
- Push notification on the Standard Chartered Mobile app
- Notification inbox within the SC Mobile app
- ‘Discover’ tab within the SC Mobile app
- SC Mobile home page banner
- Electronic Direct Mailer (eDM) to your registered email
To register, simply click the ‘Register Now’ button in any of these invitations during the registration period. You only need to register once, and your eligible Standard Chartered Visa Infinite card (as specified in the invitation) will be registered for the promotion.
Note: Registration is capped at the first 5,500 customers, so if you’ve been targeted, it’s advisable to register early. What counts as qualifying spend?
The beauty of this promotion lies in its inclusivity – both online and in-person foreign currency transactions qualify, making it useful even if you’re not planning to travel during the promotion period.
Eligible Foreign Currency Transactions are retail transactions that:
- Are charged in a foreign currency (whether overseas or online from Singapore)
- Have a transaction date within the promotion period (15th January 2026 – 15th March 2026)
- Are successfully posted during the promotion period
- Are not converted to SGD via Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC)
- Are charged after successful registration (or card approval for new customers)
This means you can use the card for:
- Overseas travel expenses (hotels, restaurants, shopping)
- Online purchases from foreign websites in foreign currencies
- International subscription services billed in foreign currencies
What doesn’t qualify?
Standard Chartered maintains a standard rewards exclusion list and that applies to spend during this promotion. The following transactions do not qualify for the cashback:
- Payment of insurance premiums
- Top-ups or bill payments (including but not limited to EZ-Link, FlashPay, mobile top-ups, Alipay, GrabPay, YouTrip, prepaid cards, YouTrip, Revolut)
- Payments to government services and institutions
- Transactions via payment gateways or facilitators (AXS, SAM, eNETS)
- Casino transactions
- Purchase of traveller’s cheques and foreign currencies
- Payment of taxes
- Balance transfers, funds transfers, cash advances, annual card fees, interest, late payment charges, and other finance charges
- Donations and philanthropic transactions
- Investment-related transactions (CPF top-ups, securities, insurance policies)
- Transactions subsequently cancelled, refunded, or disputed
You can find the complete exclusion list in Standard Chartered’s retail transaction exclusions page.
Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC) caution: Transactions converted to Singapore Dollars via DCC will not qualify for this promotion. When making purchases overseas, always choose to pay in the local foreign currency rather than accepting conversion to SGD at the point of sale. How much can you earn?
The promotion caps cashback at S$80 per customer, which translates to a maximum of S$2,286 in qualifying foreign currency spend.
Here’s how the maths works for a US$1,000 purchase example.
| 0% FX Promo US$1,000 spend example |
|
| Description | Amount |
| FCY spend | US$1,000 |
| Converted SGD amount (~1.35 SGD to 1 USD) |
S$1,350 |
| Visa FX Charge (1%) | S$13.50 |
| Bank conversion fee (2.5%) | S$33.75 |
| Total FCY fees (3.5%) | S$47.25 |
| Cashback earned (3.5%) | (S$47.25) |
| Effective FCY fee | S$0.00 |
To maximise the S$80 cashback cap, you would need to spend S$2,286 in foreign currency during the promotion period.
Beyond the S$2,286 threshold, any additional foreign currency spending would incur the standard 3.5% FX fee without offsetting cashback.
When will the cashback be credited?
Cashback will be credited to your eligible card account by 30th June 2026.
Important conditions for receiving the cashback:
- Your card account must remain valid (not suspended, cancelled, or terminated)
- Your account must be in good standing
- Your account must be conducted in a proper and satisfactory manner (as determined by Standard Chartered)
If you close your card or terminate your banking relationship with Standard Chartered within six months after the promotion period ends (i.e., before 15th September 2026), the bank reserves the right to recover the cashback.
50,000 bonus miles still available
The nice thing about this promotion if you’re not currently holding the SCVI card is that it stacks with the ongoing 50,000 miles sign-up bonus, open to both new and existing Standard Chartered credit card customers.

That means provided you have S$2,000 of eligible spend coming up (which can of course include this 0% FX promo), you’ll net 50,000 bonus miles as well – the equivalent of ‘buying’ miles for 1.2 cents each.
Full details of the ongoing sign-up bonus between now and 31st March 2026 are provided in our dedicated article, but remember you’ll have to have your card approved by 15th March 2026 to also be eligible for the 0% FX deal.

Summary
Standard Chartered’s Visa Infinite 0% FX spend promo offers cashback to the value equivalent to eliminate foreign exchange fees on up to S$2,286 of FCY spending between 15th January 2026 and 15th March 2026.
New cardholders with an approved card during the promotion period are automatically enrolled, but existing cardholders will have to be targeted, and also register before spending.
The good thing about the promotion is that there is no minimum spend requirement and both online and in-person foreign currency transactions are included.
While the maximum benefit is capped at S$80 that could still be great value if you’re planning to make foreign currency purchases during the Lunar New Year period.
For existing cardholders who are targeted, remember to register early given the 5,500-customer cap.
