UOB PRVI Miles Amex axes complimentary airport limo benefit

The UOB PRVI Miles American Express Card is losing its complimentary airport transfer perk - arguably the only reason to hold the Amex variant over its Visa and Mastercard siblings.

There’s some bad news to report for Singapore credit cards with free limo rides, with UOB confirming that the complimentary airport limousine service for PRVI Miles American Express cardholders is set to be discontinued, with effect from 1st April 2026.

The benefit currently offers a S$45 rebate for each one-way limousine transfer to Singapore Changi Airport (departures only – arrivals are not covered), with a maximum of 2 rides per calendar quarter.

To qualify, cardholders need to accumulate at least S$1,000 in overseas in-person spending within the same calendar quarter, making this one of the lowest spend thresholds of any credit card limo benefit in Singapore, as we note in our comparison of all SG credit card airport limo perks.

For context, the next most accessible option is the HSBC Visa Infinite, which requires S$2,000 in monthly spend per ride, while cards like the Citi Prestige demand a hefty S$12,000 per quarter.

The UOB PRVI Miles Amex’s S$1,000 overseas spend requirement was a bargain by comparison, especially for anyone who travels regularly and racks up foreign currency spend as a matter of course.

UOB hasn’t offered any specific rationale for the removal. The bank’s notice simply states:

“W.e.f 1 April 2026, the complimentary Airport Transfer benefit for the UOB PRVI Miles American Express Card will be discontinued.”

It’s worth noting that the booking experience with the service provider, Maxicab, was a frequent source of frustration for cardholders, as flagged by The Shutterwhale and echoed by some of our readers, with slow or absent responses to booking requests being a common complaint.

It’s also worth wondering whether S$45 per ride was simply too low to be sustainable at current market rates for private car transfers. It can easily cost that in a Grab from the city to the airport these days at peak times when a few raindrops start falling!

Whether these factors played any part in UOB’s decision is anyone’s guess.

With the airport transfer benefit gone, the UOB PRVI Miles American Express Card loses its only major selling point compared to the Visa and Mastercard versions of the same product.

The card still offers four complimentary airport lounge visits per year via Priority Pass, but that’s available across all three card variants – a perk added in October 2024 – so it’s not unique to the Amex.

The Amex version also comes with inherent acceptance limitations.

American Express is not as widely accepted as Visa or Mastercard, and that goes for spend both in Singapore and overseas.

It can be difficult to use American Express cards at some retailers, both in Singapore and across the region.

It becomes an annoying disadvantage when there’s no longer an exclusive perk to justify it.

The Amex isn’t even immune from UOB’s quirk of requiring spend in S$5 blocks to earn miles, meaning a S$4.99 transaction earns you nothing, so it’s a tough sell going forward.

If the airport limo perk was a key reason for you holding this card, you can check out all the options available in Singapore at our dedicated guide, linked below.

Summary

This is a disappointing but perhaps unsurprising move.

The UOB PRVI Miles Amex’s limo benefit punched well above its weight for a card with no annual fee (assuming you get the waiver). A S$1,000 overseas spend threshold for two free rides to the airport was genuinely generous, perhaps too much so, and it’s a shame to see it go.

If you’re currently holding the Amex variant specifically for this perk, it’s worth reassessing whether the card still earns its place in your wallet once the benefit officially ends on 1st April 2026.

The Visa or Mastercard versions of the PRVI Miles card offer the same miles earning rates and lounge access, with far better merchant acceptance.

We’ll be updating our airport limo comparison guide to reflect this change from the cutover date.

  1. Even though its only the 18th March, the booking form is taken down already. I whatsapped the car company that usually sent me the booking details and they said they arent taking booking as they havent been paid for rides for 25th February from Maxicab. So the plot thickens.
