Singapore Airlines returning to Sapporo daily in November 2025 – with award space

Singapore Airlines is loading its popular seasonal non-stop Sapporo flights again next winter, this time on a daily basis, and you can already jump on award space.

Last December, we shared the news that Singapore Airlines would be reinstating its seasonal non-stop flights between Singapore and Sapporo, following a five-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, effective from 1st December 2024.

Those flights are now in full swing, and will continue to run through to the end of January 2025, but if you’re planning ahead there’s good news in store for next year too.

In its latest schedule filing for next winter, Singapore Airlines has confirmed that it is reintroducing these non-stop Sapporo flights next year, effective from 30th November 2025.

There’s another boost in store too, with services set to operate on a daily basis, up from five times weekly during the current season.

This restores the route to its pre-COVID 2018/19 and 2019/20 seasonal operation, which also ran daily. However, back then it was served by smaller 285-seat Airbus A330s, whereas the current Airbus A350 Medium Haul aircraft assigned to the route accommodate 303 passengers – a 6% capacity hike.

This will see additional travel options on Tuesdays and Fridays from Singapore to Sapporo, and on Wednesdays and Saturdays in the return direction, compared to this season’s operation.

Timings remain the same as this year, with flights departing Changi every evening at 11pm, allowing you to travel after a full day of work, with a morning arrival at 7.30am the following day.

In the return direction, a relatively early morning departure just before 9am will see you back into Changi at around 4.40pm the same afternoon, after a significantly longer (but still non-stop) 8 hour 45 minute flight, against the strong headwinds prevalent on Japan – Singapore routes in the winter months.

Singapore Airlines has confirmed to Mainly Miles that this seasonal service will operate until 28th January 2026 (29th January 2026 from Sapporo to Singapore).

Singapore Airlines opens both revenue tickets and award redemptions for booking 355 days before departure. For next year’s Sapporo flights, this means only the first week or so of services is currently available for booking at the time of writing.

Based on our searches, cash fares are high, with round-trip pricing from Singapore starting at:

  • Economy: S$1,500
  • Business: $4,250

Award space is also rather sporadic, on a route we understand relies heavily on travel agent seat allocation.

Here are the applicable one-way KrisFlyer award rates on this route.

KrisFlyer Redemption
Singapore ⇄ Japan
  Saver Advantage
Economy 27,000 45,000
Premium Economy 37,500 n/a
Business 52,000 70,000
First / Suites 77,000 120,000

Taxes and fees of S$65.20 per person are payable on top of these miles rates in the SIN-CTS direction, or JPY 3,610 (~S$32) in the CTS-SIN direction.

In Economy Class there are only Advantage awards currently being loaded from Singapore to Sapporo, with Saver awards currently on waitlist.

In the return direction, however, plenty of Saver space is available in Economy Class.

Unfortunately we found no award space at all in Business Class from Singapore to Sapporo, however there are some Advantage Business awards loaded in the Sapporo to Singapore direction.

Singapore Airlines loads up fresh award space on these flights at 8am Singapore Time each morning, 355 days ahead of the departure date.

For example, jump online at 8am tomorrow morning – 20th December 2024 – to try and snag any available awards on SQ660 (SIN-CTS) or SQ661 (CTS-SIN) departing on 10th December 2025, and so on.

This can be a good way to snap up a pair of Saver Business Class awards on these flights right from the outset, but sadly it’s not guaranteed.

Do keep checking as award space is dynamic, not fixed – more award space does sometimes get added later.

While Singapore Airlines only serves Hokkaido during the peak winter ski season, that’s not the case for budget subsidiary Scoot, with the carrier flying four times weekly year-round to Sapporo via Taipei using Boeing 787-8s.

Services operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Scoot supplemented these with a series of non-stop Singapore – Sapporo flights between November 2022 and February 2023. However, they have not operated since, and with SIA having resumed regular seasonal service on this route, their return now seems unlikely.

Scoot is currently loading its Singapore – Taipei – Sapporo schedule through to the end of October 2025.

Summary

Hokkaido ski enthusiasts will be very happy at the news that seasonal non-stop flights between Singapore and Sapporo look set to be a regular winter fixture once again. SIA is not only operating this route at the time of writing, but has also scheduled its return from late November 2025 through late January 2026.

Flights will operate daily next year, a 40% frequency increase, using Airbus A350 Medium Haul aircraft with the 2018 Regional Business Class seats in a 1-2-1 configuration.

Award space is already being loaded for the first few flights, and if you make your searches at 8am each day over the next few weeks you’ll hopefully see subsequent space coming up progressively through to the end date of this seasonal route.

  1. Senselessly conservative of Singapore Airlines which really ought to serve CTS 5x weekly for whole of Northern Winter on top of daily in Dec/ Jan.

Also the block times should be pushed 2 hours back so more people can reach CTS by public transport.

  2. Hi, just check to redeem SIN-CTS -SIN route, there is no flight available to redeem miles for Business class even untill late January 2026 (yes it might be to late now to redeem). As preparation for December 2026 season, do they actually open for redemption Business class on SIN-CTS-SIN route?

    1. It’s not impossible for more award space to be added closer to the time, but that’s typically at Advantage rates. Overall though, it’s a tricky route for any fresh award availability to come up, since I understand much of the capacity is blocked out for travel agents.
