It’s been some time since the last significant cut to earn rates at Kris+ merchants, with accrual at around 70 retailers reduced back in October 2023, but now there’s news of the biggest cut yet from SIA’s “lifestyle app”, and it kicks in just a week from now – on 1st July 2025.
Kris+ has revealed that a whopping 291 of its 481 merchants – around three out of every five listed island wide that are part of the earning programme – will have their accrual rates cut from 1st July 2025.
This time round the cuts are very significant indeed. Only three merchants will retain the app’s top 9 mpd accrual rate – down from 92 today, while the overall average earn rate island-wide will drop from 4.77 mpd today to just 3.29 mpd on 1st July, a 31% reduction.
26 merchants even see their earn rate cut significantly – by between 66% and 89%.
With effect from 1 July 2025, there will be new bonus earn rates for selected partners.
Kris+
That’s a big disappointment for our readers as Kris+ is a very useful way of topping up your KrisFlyer miles balance throughout the year, but the good news is that around 40% of merchants will see no change to their current earning rates.
Reduced earn rates at nearly 300 merchants
There are currently an impressive 481 Kris+ earning merchants across Singapore, with thousands of outlets between them, but next month the majority are changing their earning rates.

In total, 291 merchants are moving to a lower earn rate from 1st July 2025, around 60% of the total cohort, and many of them are popular and easy ways to accrue large volumes of miles, so the effect will certainly be felt by many Kris+ users.
Here’s a summary of how many merchants will drop into each earn rate category from 1st July 2025, compared to now.
Kris+ Earning Rates

- The average earn rate across all Kris+ merchants will drop from 4.77 mpd to 3.29 mpd from 1st July 2025.
- The average earn rate across the 291 Kris+ merchants cutting their earn rate will drop from 5.96 mpd to 3.50 mpd from 1st July 2025.
- New earn rates from 1st July 2025 are not yet reflected in the Kris+ app page for each merchant, but don’t worry – we’ve got the full list below.

How to earn miles with Kris+ when purchasing
Since September 2021, in-app payments have been the only way to earn Kris+ miles when purchasing in-store at an earning partner.
The process is straightforward, just scan the merchant’s QR code and make payment using Apple Pay or Google Pay with your linked credit card.

The app then credits your miles instantly, which you should then transfer immediately to your KrisFlyer account (you only have 21 days to do so, before the miles are stuck in KrisPay with a paltry 0.67 cents rebate value against future purchases).
However, there’s now the option to auto-transfer accrued KrisPay miles to your KrisFlyer account without having to go through these additional clicks, via the Wallet > Transfer to KrisFlyer page. Simply enable the ‘Auto-transfer to KrisFlyer’ button and the process will be automated whenever you accrue KrisPay miles at a merchant.

It’s also worth noting that KrisPay miles will see a hike in value from 1st July 2025, as we recently reported, with each mile worth 1 cent off a future purchase (a 49% increase) if you wish to retain miles in the Kris+ app.
This will soften the blow of the earn rate cuts for those who keep their KrisPay miles strictly within the Kris+ ecosystem, effectively as cashback for future purchases, but is of little benefit to the majority of our readers who transfer to KrisFlyer miles for the best future redemption value – Business Class and First Class awards on SIA.
Around 190 merchants keep the same earn rate
The only good news regarding this significant earning reduction at most merchants is around 190 – or 40% – will be unscathed and continue to earn at their current rates, even after 1st July 2025.
If your favourite merchants are on this list – there’s no need to worry as nothing will be changing for you. Click the list below to expand and see for yourself.
Credit card points of up to 4 mpd are still in addition
You will also accrue points or miles on your credit card for the spend made for Kris+ payment transactions, in some cases adding up to 4 mpd to the maximum 9 mpd Kris+ is dishing out, for up to 13 mpd total earning.
This depends on the credit card you hold and the merchant category (MCC code) of the retailer.
The following cards will earn at their bonus rates of between 3 mpd and 4 mpd for spend in the specific MCCs listed. You can check the MCC with the merchant in advance of your payment if you are unsure, though some are obvious (like restaurants – 5812).

Don’t use your Citi Rewards card to make payment with Apple Pay or Google Pay on Kris+, since online transactions using this card specifically exclude mobile wallet payments and will therefore earn at the basic rate of 0.4 mpd.
Unsure?
If you’re not sure whether your bonus miles credit card is eligible for the merchant of your choice, our advice is to use your best card for general spend miles accrual, especially if the transaction is substantial.
For smaller amounts you may wish to take the chance, but remember most bonus category spend credit cards earn just 0.4 mpd when you make transactions that the bank decides don’t qualify.
Summary
Kris+ is slashing earn rates at nearly 300 merchants across Singapore from 1st July 2025, in some cases by as little as 17% (those moving from 6 mpd to 5 mpd), but in the worst cases by 89% (those moving from 3 mpd to just 0.33 mpd).
There is still one week to take advantage of current earn rates before the cuts take effect, so you should plan any purchases you need by 30th June 2025 at these retailers if possible.
In some good news, around 190 Kris+ merchants aren’t changing their earn rates at all, which is a relief if these ones are on your regular go-to list for miles accrual.
While this is an unfortunate cut in earn rates at the majority of partners, ultimately Kris+ has been offering significant generosity since increasing rates back in 2022. Effectively, the party was always going to be over eventually.
Even reduced rates from 1st July 2025 come on top of your credit card points, and any miles are better than no miles – provided the products your are purchasing are no more expensive than they would be elsewhere, or you would be dining in the same restaurant anyway.
As always, never forget the golden rule – transfer your KrisPay miles straight into your KrisFlyer account after each purchase, or set up the new auto-transfer function to take care of this step for you!
