SIA’s low-cost carrier Scoot has officially launched a new KrisFlyer award chart, marking a significant shift from the airline’s previous dynamic pricing model for award redemptions. The airline announced the launch today, offering KrisFlyer members fixed-rate redemptions starting from just 1,500 KrisFlyer miles for Economy Class flights.
From dynamic pricing to fixed-price awards
Since joining the KrisFlyer rewards programme in 2015, Scoot has operated on a dynamic pricing model where each KrisFlyer mile was valued at a fixed rate – initially 0.95 cents per mile, then increased to 1 cent per mile on 1st July 2025.
This framework made Scoot redemptions poor value, as high airfares required excessive miles while low fares made cash purchases more sensible. Whatever you did you were never getting more than 1 cent per mile of value – and it’s something we’ve reminded KrisFlyer members about regularly over recent years.
The new award chart represents a fundamental change in the redemption approach, bringing Scoot in line with the way we’re used to seeing Singapore Airlines awards priced, with fixed zone-based redemption rates regardless of commercial fare fluctuations.
“We believe that travel should be accessible and rewarding and launching Scoot’s award chart is our way of providing greater value for KrisFlyer members. With Scoot’s award chart, KrisFlyer members can now get more out of their miles… at attractive redemption rates”
Calvin Chan, CCO, Scoot
You’ll still be able to offset part, or even all, of your Scoot fare (taxes included) at the rather dismal 1 cent per mile rate, in addition to this new redemption option, with or without award space being available.

Award chart structure and pricing
The new chart divides Scoot’s network into multiple zones, with Singapore serving as the hub (Zone 1). Awards are available in two tiers:
- Scoot Saver: The lower-priced award option
- Scoot Advantage: Higher-priced awards, presumably with better availability
Here’s how the full award chart looks.
TR-KF-AwardsThere’s some potentially good value here, like:
- Penang: 1,500 miles
- Kuching & Kota Kinabalu: 2,000 miles
- Bangkok & Phuket: 2,500 miles
- Bali & Lombok: 4,500 miles
- Perth: 6,500 miles
- Tokyo, Osaka & Seoul: 12,500 miles
The chart covers almost all Scoot destinations, including Bangkok, Bali, Hangzhou, Ipoh, Jeju, Taipei and Vienna.

Value proposition
The new award chart presents compelling value for certain routes, particularly when compared to Singapore Airlines’ Economy Class redemption rates.
Here are a few examples.

However, the value comparison requires careful consideration of what’s included.
While Scoot awards cover the seat only, Singapore Airlines awards include checked baggage, meals, entertainment, and other amenities that could justify the higher miles cost for many travellers.

For routes where the mileage difference is substantial – such as Bangkok requiring only 2,500 – 5,500 miles on Scoot versus 13,500 – 25,000 on Singapore Airlines – the savings could outweigh the reduced service levels, especially for travellers comfortable with the low-cost carrier experience.
As always though, it will be important to do the maths, by checking the cash cost of a Scoot Basic fare compared to the miles outlay required for redemption, also taking into account the taxes that will still be payable when you use miles to book.
For example, a Scoot Saver award at 2,500 KrisFlyer miles + S$67 is available on the following flight, which might seem like a good redemption.

Here’s the cash alternative for a basic fare.

Crunch the numbers, and this award is only saving you S$19 (S$88 fare – S$67 taxes), which works out as 0.76 cents per mile.
That’s even worse than the part or full miles offset rate of 1 cent per mile, available on all Scoot or SIA flights.
We always aim to achieve at least 2 cents per mile of value when we redeem our KrisFlyer miles.
Scoot can now join Spontaneous Escapes
One interesting benefit of this new Scoot KrisFlyer award chart is that some of the carrier’s unsold award inventory can now be offered at a discount – typically 30% – in KrisFlyer’s monthly Spontaneous Escapes promotion, typically released mid-month for travel during the subsequent calendar month.

That could bring award rates down to as little as 1,050 miles, on routes like Singapore – Kuala Lumpur and Singapore – Penang.
This month KrisFlyer will offer a 60-hour flash sale from 12pm on Friday 15th August 2025 to 11.59pm on Sunday 17th August 2025 with 40% off saver awards on Singapore Airlines, and it will be interesting to see if Scoot awards are now included in this deal, potentially meaning some flight awards might be priced at just 900 miles + tax.
Good news for former SilkAir routes
This launch addresses a long-standing pain point for KrisFlyer members, particularly regarding former SilkAir routes that were transferred to Scoot.
Destinations like Koh Samui, which previously offered excellent redemption value at 12,500 miles each way on SilkAir, can now be accessed again through the KrisFlyer programme at 10,500 miles (Saver rate).
That has potential to be very good, due to high fares both on Scoot and Bangkok Airways.
Availability and booking
Award redemptions are now live on Scoot’s official website and mobile app. The airline notes that seat availability may be controlled by redemption capacity, and eligible routes are subject to change without notice.
REDEEM KRISFLYER MILES ON SCOOT
A miles calculator has been added to Scoot’s loyalty portal to help members determine redemption requirements for specific routes.
Summary
Scoot’s new award chart is a nice enhancement to the KrisFlyer programme, particularly for members seeking affordable redemptions to destinations not served by Singapore Airlines.
While the bare-bones nature of Scoot’s product means additional purchases will be required for most travellers, the substantial mileage savings – especially on short to medium-haul routes – make this a welcome addition to KrisFlyer’s redemption options.
Scoot flight redemptions won’t exactly have you bragging to your friends, but when cash fares are high, they have potential to be a smart way to stretch your miles – just don’t forget the extras like bags and seat selection still come out of your own pocket.
As always, it will be important to check how much cash you are saving with an award redemption, versus both a Scoot cash booking and other airlines, to ensure you are getting good value for your miles.

Think the more important question is does anyone still dare to fly scoot after they recruited the 100 pilots from Air India, an airline with a horrible safety record and pilots who are known to have fake certification?
Scarry…I’m not comfortable flying with Scoot anymore knowing they hired 100 Pilot Indians. I’m not a racist I worked with Indians before………
I ran the numbers, with tax and a check in bag, some flights you are better off paying full fare for regional flights
