Singapore Airlines has been making some early adjustments to its initial summer 2026 flight schedule over recent days, as we highlighted earlier this week with the surprise shift to Airbus A350 operation on the London Heathrow route, something that could bring some exciting news in terms of new cabin products less than a year from now.
In another update we noticed, the airline is bringing the Airbus A380 back to its Singapore – Hong Kong route for a short-term stint right in the peak of the summer months from late June 2026 to late July 2026.
The carrier’s superjumbo hasn’t been operating regularly on the Hong Kong route since the peak Chinese New Year period from mid to late January earlier this year, and before that it was October 2024 since the type was used to and from this city.
A brief return for the A380 to Hong Kong
Here’s how SIA’s revised Hong Kong schedule looks for the summer 2026 season, with five daily flights including SQ892/893 services mostly planned for the Boeing 777-300ER, and those upgrading to the superjumbo for a short period.

As you can see, aside from this five-week period in June and July 2026, the Boeing 777-300ER will be operating on this route, meaning older 2013 First Class (no Suites) and 2013 Business Class seats.

Flight time is 4 hours in each direction, quite a nice ‘taster’ of the new cabins on the Airbus A380 if you haven’t experienced them before.
However, do note that there is no caviar service on these shorter flights in Suites, nor are amenity kits or sleeper suits offered, so the experience isn’t quite what you’d get on a Singapore – London or Singapore – Sydney flight, for example.
If you’re lucky enough to already be booked on the existing SQ892/893 services during this window, it’ll be a pleasant treat since you should now find your Boeing 777-300ER booking has been updated to reflect the Airbus A380, and that means the new Suites for those of you originally booked in First Class.
KrisFlyer awards
Here are the latest one-way KrisFlyer award rates you’ll pay for the Singapore – Hong Kong route, on this Airbus A380 flight and SIA or Scoot’s other services.

| KrisFlyer Redemption Singapore ⇄ Hong Kong (one-way) |
|||
| Airline / Cabin | Saver | Advantage | |
| Economy | 16,500 | 30,000 | |
| Premium Economy | 26,500 | n/a | |
| Business | 34,000 | 50,000 | |
| First / Suites | 45,000 | 73,000 | |
| Economy | 6,500 | 12,500 | |
As you can see it’s a far cry from the cheapest 6,500 miles award for a Saver Scoot Basic Economy redemption on this route through to 73,000 miles for a Saver SIA Suites ticket, highlighting the significant divide between all the various product options.
For the most part, Advantage Suites award space is available and Saver Suites awards are waitlisted, but there are some dates with immediately-confirmable Saver Suites awards.

Obviously if it’s Advantage Suites your looking at, that’s a steep ask at 73,000 miles one-way.
PPS Club members may also be able to access more immediately-confirmable Saver space in this cabin, since they enjoy slightly better award space than other members.
Remember that KrisFlyer award space is dynamic – it comes and goes. Keep checking as additional seats can be released closer to the departure date (yes, even if no one cancels an award seat!).
2017 cabin products
All Singapore Airlines Airbus A380 aircraft now have the latest cabin products, including the 2017 Suites and Business Class seats, which means you’ll also find them on these Hong Kong flights in mid 2026.

There’s also a large 44-seat Premium Economy Class section, in the space the Suites cabin used to occupy at the forward main deck.
The aircraft also feature the latest KrisWorld in-flight entertainment system and Wi-Fi connectivity.
Here are our reviews of the Suites (double bed) and Business Class cabins on these A380s.
Hong Kong capacity still well down
As we’ve reported a few times in recent years, the Singapore – Hong Kong route is really struggling to return to its pre-COVID capacity norms, and next summer’s provisional schedules are no exception – even with this short-term Airbus A380 service in play.
In total, SIA will offer only five daily flights on the route, down from seven before the pandemic, when a daily A380 was part of the mix year-round.
Even Scoot was flying three daily Hong Kong flights in the summer before COVID – in 2026 only a single daily Airbus A320 will ply the route for the group on the low-cost side.
While Cathay Pacific has reinstated eight out of its nine former flights on the route, one of those is currently operated by the 202-seat Airbus A321neo, which only has 12 recliner seats in Business Class, as we recently reported.
It will be interesting to see how long it takes this market to recover, with the SIA Group offering only 12,383 seats per week in each direction on the Hong Kong route next summer, even while the A380 is operating, a third less than the 18,519 offered in July 2019.
Summary
Singapore Airlines will deploy the Airbus A380 on its Hong Kong flights for five weeks in summer 2026, which offers a rare opportunity for passengers to experience the airline’s Suites and newest Business Class products on a short-haul route.
While there’s limited availability and Advantage rates are high for Suites, this is an ‘aspirational’ redemption which may be worth it for some, without the need (or miles) to commit to a long-haul journey.
The route’s capacity remains significantly depressed compared to pre-pandemic levels, with SIA offering just five daily flights versus seven before COVID-19. If demand really is that much lower than before, additional award space may be added later, so keep an eye on this one if it’s of interest.
