Singapore Airlines has rolled out some additional adjustments to its initial plan for the summer 2026 flight schedule, as we highlighted last month with the surprise shift to Airbus A350 operation on the London Heathrow route, and brief return for the Airbus A380 on Hong Kong flights.
In the latest update, the airline is bringing the Airbus A380 back to its Singapore – Shanghai route on a daily basis from 1st May 2026, right through to the end of the published schedule, which is currently in late August 2026.
The carrier’s superjumbo has just completed a short summer stint on Shanghai flights, from late June to the end of August this year, and is also scheduled to operate to the city daily during February and March 2026, before this newly-added longer summer deployment.
A return for SIA’s A380 to Shanghai
Here’s how SIA’s Shanghai schedule looks for the upcoming winter 2025 / 26 season, with four daily flights including SQ830/833 services mostly planned for the Boeing 777-300ER, but upgrading to the superjumbo for the final two months of the season.

For the summer 2025 season, overall Shanghai service gets its usual hike to five daily flights, and once again the SQ830/833 services start off on the Boeing 777-300ER, but then upgrade to the A380 from 1st May.

Unlike on the four-hour Hong Kong route, these longer Shanghai flights include an Osetra caviar service, plus an amenity kit and pyjamas.

There’s also more time outside the meal service to enjoy the suite’s features, including the bed, though the flight length at around 5 hours 30 minutes obviously doesn’t quite the full experience you’d get on a Singapore – London or Singapore – Sydney flight.
If you’re lucky enough to already be booked on the existing SQ830/833 services during these two operating windows next year, it’ll be a pleasant treat since you should now find your Boeing 777-300ER booking has been updated to reflect the Airbus A380, and that means the new Suites for those of you originally booked in First Class.
KrisFlyer awards
Here are the current one-way KrisFlyer award rates you’ll pay for the Singapore – Shanghai route, on these Airbus A380 flight and other SIA services.

| KrisFlyer Redemption Singapore ⇄ Shanghai (one-way) |
|||
| Airline / Cabin | Saver | Advantage | |
| Economy | 21,500 | 40,000 | |
| Premium Economy | 34,500 | n/a | |
| Business | 43,000 | 65,000 | |
| First / Suites | 58,500 | 98,000 | |
For the most part, Advantage Suites award space is available and Saver Suites awards are waitlisted, but there are some dates with immediately-confirmable Saver Suites awards, especially in the recently-loaded A380 allocation from May 2026 onwards.

Obviously if there are only Advantage Suites on your preferred dates, that’s a very steep ask at 98,000 miles one-way, but there are a fairly generous selection of waitlist awards at Saver level, which may be worth trying for.

PPS Club members may also be able to access more immediately-confirmable Saver space in this cabin, since they enjoy slightly better award space than other members.
As most of our readers know, KrisFlyer will be increasing its award rates for bookings made from 1st November 2025 onwards, which will see redemptions on the Shanghai route increase by 4-5% at Saver rates and 10-15% for Advantage.
One exception is for Economy Saver tickets, which will actually price around 5% cheaper following the change.
Remember that KrisFlyer award space is dynamic – it comes and goes. Keep checking as additional seats can be released closer to the departure date (yes, even if no one cancels an award seat!).
2017 cabin products
All Singapore Airlines Airbus A380 aircraft now have the latest cabin products, including the 2017 Suites and Business Class seats, which means you’ll also find them on these Shanghai flights on selected dates in 2026.

There’s also a large 44-seat Premium Economy Class section, in the space the Suites cabin used to occupy at the forward main deck.
The aircraft also feature the latest KrisWorld in-flight entertainment system and Wi-Fi connectivity.
Here are our reviews of the Suites (double bed) and Business Class cabins on these A380s.
Summary
Singapore Airlines will deploy the Airbus A380 on its Shanghai flights for two months in the coming winter season – February and March 2026 – then again from May 2026 onwards, which offers a nice opportunity for passengers to experience the airline’s Suites and most recent Business Class product on a shorter regional route.
While there’s limited availability at Saver levels, and Advantage rates are high for Suites, this is an ‘aspirational’ redemption which may be worth it for some, without the miles to commit to a long-haul journey.
Do try to lock in awards by 30th October 2025 if you’re interested, to avoid KrisFlyer’s upcoming rate hike.
