Singapore Airlines

Where is Singapore Airlines flying its Airbus A380s?

Only four cities on the Singapore Airlines network get consistent A380 service this winter, while a further three pick up the superjumbo for at least part of the season.

Here's the full list.

Singapore Airlines has recently finalised its flight schedules and aircraft type allocation for the northern winter season, which runs from late October 2025 to late March 2026, including its sought-after Airbus A380 services, which will see the carrier’s superjumbos operating to and from up to seven cities on the network during this period.

Unfortunately, not all of these routes are season-long; only London, Sydney, Delhi and Mumbai have at least one daily A380 service across the full winter period, with shorter part-season stints for Auckland, Frankfurt and Shanghai.

Here’s our latest analysis of the airline’s plans for this aircraft type over the next six months.

Route summary

Up to seven cities will see at least some Airbus A380 service by Singapore Airlines between now and late March 2026.

Singapore Airlines will operate 112 weekly A380 flights for the last two months of the winter 2025/26 season – a nice improvement on the 98 weekly flights this summer, but still somewhat short of the 126 weekly flights we saw with the type back in January 2024.

Recently up to three or even four of the 12-strong fleet of aircraft has been out of action at any one time for maintenance, but that situation finally seems to be improving.

The schedules

Here’s how the Singapore Airlines Airbus A380 schedules look on these routes between now and late March 2026.

🇳🇿 Auckland

Singapore Airlines is returning the Airbus A380 to daily Auckland service for the first time in over two years from mid-January 2026 to late March 2026, to capture the peak southern summer tourism season in New Zealand.

Non-A380 SIA flights on the Delhi route

  • SQ402/401 operates daily alongside the A380 service shown above, using 787-10 aircraft.

🇩🇪 Frankfurt

Singapore Airlines sadly no longer operates the Airbus A380 on its Singapore – Frankfurt – New York route, downgrading the service to the smaller Boeing 777-300ER aircraft back in May 2023, but the superjumbo was reinstated on daily Frankfurt terminator flights in late March 2024.

This continues through the first part of winter 2025/26 on flights SQ326/325 until mid-January 2026, when the service downgauges to the Boeing 777-300ER to support daily A380 Auckland flights for the rest of the season.

  • SIA also operates daily SQ26/25 flights between Singapore and Frankfurt, with onward service to and from New York JFK, using 777-300ER aircraft.
  • SQ326/325 downgauges to the Boeing 777-300ER from 18th January 2026 to 28th March 2026.
  • SQ330/329 operates as a daily Airbus A350 LH flight from 18th January 2026 to 28th March 2026.

🇬🇧 London Heathrow

Singapore Airlines will continue to operate two daily Airbus A380 flights to and from London Heathrow this winter.

However, a temporary reduction from four daily services in total on the route to three from mid-January to late February 2026 results in a bit of a ‘switcheroo’ for some of the superjumbo allocation, with a temporary swap from SQ308/319 to SQ318/321 in February and March 2026.

As you can see, the cheapest way to experience the A380’s cabin products this winter is between Singapore and India. Both Delhi and Mumbai are competitively priced, and often have good award availability, even in Suites and Business Class.

Shanghai is also identically priced in the premium cabins, though the opportunity to redeem on this route is a bit more limited with operation only in February and March 2026.

SIA’s Airbus A380 fleet

Singapore Airlines reduced its fleet of Airbus A380s from 19 before the pandemic down to 12 aircraft.

All of the dozen A380s returning to operation have the new 2017 cabin products installed, and while all 12 of the jets are now part of the airline’s operating fleet, at the time of writing only nine SIA superjumbos are in service, with three undergoing maintenance work, as outlined below.

Even once Shanghai services start from February 2026, only nine A380s are needed to operate the airline’s superjumbo schedule through to the end of March 2025, with an tenth as an operational spare suggesting that at least two A380s will continue to be out of action for most if not all of the next six months.

This will probably happen on a rotating basis, as maintenance checks become due for specific aircraft in the fleet.

Singapore Airlines now has all 12 of its A380s at its disposal, but only around 10 are needed to operate the confirmed winter 2025/26 flying programme, even in the peak Feb-Mar 2026 window.

A380 cabin products

The A380 is popular with passengers in all cabin classes, but in particular it’s the latest Suites and Business Class seats rolled out in 2017 that are still a big draw for many of our readers.

There’s also a large 44-seat Premium Economy Class section, in the space the Suites cabin used to occupy in the older configuration, at the forward main deck.

The A380s also feature the latest KrisWorld in-flight entertainment system and Wi-Fi connectivity – now free and unlimited for all Suites and Business Class passengers, and for KrisFlyer members in Premium Economy and Economy Class.

Here are our reviews of the Suites (double bed) and Business Class cabins on these A380s.

What about 29th March 2026 onwards?

Singapore Airlines is already loading Airbus A380 operation on its network for the northern summer 2026 season from 29th March 2026 onwards, but there’s a big caveat here.

This is usually just a copy-paste of the previous winter season operation, and so isn’t necessarily indicative of the actual aircraft types that will operate on these routes at this early stage.

Some A380 routes are a sure bet, like SIA’s twice daily flights to Sydney and London. But beyond that, the airline has flexibility to reshuffle its superjumbo network – and as we’ve seen in recent years, even staple routes like London and Sydney can see temporary cuts.

Nonetheless the airline has been programming some changes for A380 operation next summer already, including daily Hong Kong flights from late June to late July 2026, and daily Shanghai services from May 2026 onwards.

The following summer 2026 flights are currently planned for A380 operation at the time of writing:

  • Delhi (SQ406/403)
    Except 21st June 2026 – 25th July 2026 (77W operates)
  • Frankfurt (SQ326/325)
  • Hong Kong (SQ892/893)
    21st June 2026 – 25th July 2026 only
  • London Heathrow (SQ308/319 and SQ322/317)
  • Mumbai (SQ424/423)
    Except 26th July 2026 – 29th August 2026 (77W operates)
  • Shanghai (SQ830/833)
    From 1st May 2026
  • Sydney (SQ231/222 and SQ221/232)

We tend to get more clarity on the final summer season schedules and aircraft allocation by around January, so don’t rely too much on the aircraft types listed beyond 29th March 2026 until then, though the latest announced A380 changes should stick.

Summary

Singapore Airlines is operating its Airbus A380s to four cities on a consistent basis between now and late March 2026; London, Sydney, Delhi and Mumbai.

However, there are also flights to Shanghai from February 2026, while Frankfurt makes way for Auckland on the superjumbo’s roster from mid-January 2026.

The winter 2025/26 season represents a modest recovery for Singapore Airlines’ A380 operations, with 112 weekly flights compared to 98 this summer, though still below the 126 weekly flights we saw back in January 2024.

The airline’s maintenance challenges that previously kept up to four aircraft grounded simultaneously appear to be improving, with only three of the 12-strong fleet currently out of service.

Looking ahead to summer 2026, early scheduling suggests potential expansion with daily Hong Kong services planned for the peak June-July period and year-round Shanghai operations from May 2026.

However, KrisFlyer award devaluations take effect from 1st November 2025, making current bookings particularly attractive for premium cabin redemptions, especially on those competitively-priced India and Shanghai routes.

  1. I wonder if SQ wishes it had kept more of its A380s coming out of the pandemic. So many airlines got rid of or downsized their A380 fleet in such haste and now wish they had more capacity.
