There are four different First Class products offered on Singapore Airlines flights, two types of First Class seat and two versions of Suites. Unfortunately not all of SIA’s aircraft types are fitted with either such cabin. Only 51 of the airline’s 125-strong fleet currently features a First Class / Suites offering, limiting your route choice if you wish to try out the airline’s finest lounges and coveted highest level of service, either for cash or miles.
After examining the Business Class seats by route up to October 2020 earlier this week, it’s time to update our First Class and Suites list through the end of the northern summer 2020 season. This helps you avoid the guesswork by offering an A-Z destination list, flight number by flight number, seat type by seat type.
The seats
Singapore Airlines is currently flying two different types of First Class seat (F) and two different types of First Class Suite (R) across its fleet. Most of you will already know exactly what these are, however here’s a breakdown including some key facts and figures.

Which planes have which seats?
The full route tables below show the exact First Class seat or Suite type planned for each flight number between now and October 2020, so there is no need to be totally familiar with which aircraft are fitted with which seats, however for those interested the distribution is as follows at November 2019:
Singapore Airlines First Class Fleet / Seat Types | ||||
Aircraft | Type Designator | In Fleet | First Class Seat Types |
|
ICAO | IATA | |||
A380-800 | A388 | 388 | 19 | 2006 R (13) 2017 R (6) |
777-300 | B773 | 773 | 5 | 2006 F |
777-300ER | B77W | 77W | 27 | 2013 F |
Upcoming changes
The 2006 F seat was withdrawn from the last SIA 777-300ER at the end of 2018, with all of those aircraft now featuring the 2013 F seat. That leaves only the five remaining 777-300s featuring 2006 F.
The latest 2017 Suites cabin is fitted on the five newest SIA A380s and one older aircraft which has been retrofitted as of November 2019. The remaining 13 older aircraft are undergoing a refit program, so the new cabin will start to appear on more flights from 2020 and beyond.

Over the next few years more routes will switch from 2006 Suites to 2017 Suites, though it’s now looking likely to be 2022/23 before all of them will be finished, if indeed the airline does refit all the A380s.
Which seat by route
Here’s the full list with an A-Z of Singapore Airlines routes showing all the flights operating on each route and the First Class seat or Suite type fitted.
These tables are regularly updated (daily in some cases) with the latest information from the GDS timetables and other sources, so do bookmark this page and check back for the latest information.

Non-Singapore routes
As with the Business Class routes, if you’re flying First Class / Suites with Singapore Airlines on a flight sector not originating or ending in Singapore there are several routes featuring one of these cabins. Here are the seat and Suite types used on those services.

Substitutions do occur
The data for this information is based on GDS timetables and programmed seat layouts and is correct at 9th November 2019. We keep it regularly updated to ensure it’s a useful long-term reference whenever aircraft types or seat types on a route change.
Often we write an article in these cases, but we can’t write about every minor change so do check back here regularly for the latest information.
Do bear in mind that the list may not be 100% up to date at all times and Singapore Airlines always reserves the right to substitute a different aircraft type last minute on any flight due to operational requirements. This can occur even on the day of operation, so you’re never guaranteed a particular seat type until you get on board.
Changes happen too
You’re never immune from an aircraft type / seat type change when you book a flight with Singapore Airlines, especially if you book a long time in advance – for example 10 or 11 months out.
The data above is based on the aircraft types and seat layouts in the current published timetable, however SIA may already be planning to switch aircraft types for your routing especially in the following season, where the schedule can be considered largely provisional.
How to be sure
While the information above should be accurate, the seat map for your flight is the best way to verify the First Class seat or Suite type being used for your flight. You can view the map on the Singapore Airlines website prior to committing to booking, however you will have to enter some details first.
Alternatively a free subscription to ExpertFlyer also includes the ability to view the seat maps for all Singapore Airlines flights.
Once you have the seat map, see our guide for the aircraft type to determine which First Class seat or Suite it’s referring to:
- Airbus A380-800 (this can be 2006 R or 2017 R)
- Boeing 777-300 (this must be 2006 F)
- Boeing 777-300ER (this must be 2013 F)
The latest 2017 Suites
If the latest Suites product on the new A380s is of most interest to you we have a dedicated page showing where those planes are flying now and in the future. Upcoming routes in 2020 include Tokyo and Paris.
Bookmark that page for updates as more aircraft with the new product should be rolling out in 2020. We also have a full review of the latest Suites here, including the double bed.
Best redemption rates
For the planned SIA flights between now and October 2020 we can also reveal the cheapest KrisFlyer saver redemption rate by First Class / Suite cabin type on Singapore Airlines. Here’s your lowest rate one-way award ticket in each case:
- 2006 F: Singapore to/from Brunei or Jakarta (27,500 miles)
- 2013 F: Singapore to/from Jakarta (27,500 miles)
- 2006 R: Singapore to/from Beijing, Delhi or Mumbai (53,000 miles)
- 2017 R: Singapore to/from Hong Kong (40,500 miles)
Business Class
We have an equivalent guide showing where the five different Business Class seat types are flying around the SIA network. Check out our Business Class seat types by route article here.

Thanks for the extensive overview!
So SQ802 from sin to pek will definitely not have the new suites this summer?
No regular plans for this one yet unfortunately. It does get the occasional swap though.
Thanks for this. A minor item A380v3 has been marked as A388 in most places in the post.
No problem. Seems correct as far as I can see though, most A380s are still v1 and v2. Can you give me an example of where it’s wrong? Thanks
Great overview, thanks for the breakdown. Would really love to try out the 2017R.
My hkg flight mid March affected by this. Should I contact SQ now to change or should I wait until Jan? You think they may change again? It was supposed to be biz 2007R but they switched to the old 2003.
SQ638 reverts back to 2006R beginning Oct. 28 2020
Yes it does, a bit earlier than that in fact at the start of the NW20/21 schedule on 25/10/20.
The schedule on this page is until 24/10/20, however our 2017 Suites Tracker reflects the change.
It looks like SQ305/SQ306 get 2017R from July 1. I just get mine! 😆
Do you know when we can expect to see the seat and suite types for the remainder of 2020 and early 2021? I’m hoping to book suites from JFK in January 2021 but there have been rumors of an equipment change and loss of suites on that route.
JFK is apparently downgrading to the 777-300ER later next year. Not confirmed yet, but it looks like the route will never see the new Suites sorry!
I saw this rumors floating around before Thanksgiving with some speculating we could get news back at the end of November. There still hasn’t been any news. The anticipation is killing me!
