CardUp has a couple of new promotional rates for both new and existing customers making payments this month, starting at 1.7% fee, allowing you to generate miles from as little as 1.04 cents each when making bill payments through the platform where you otherwise wouldn’t earn credit card rewards.

New user offer
If you have signed up for a personal CardUp account but have not yet scheduled a payment using the service, you may be targeted for a promotional 1.7% fee transaction using promo code ‘99CARDUPNEW‘.
You can check your email to see whether CardUp has selected you for this offer, or you can try out the promo code at the ‘Schedule payment’ stage to see if it works.

Existing customer offer
Existing CardUp customers can take advantage of a 1.85% fee offer with either an additional S$5 or S$10 back in the form of Lazada vouchers, for new payments scheduled on CardUp on or before 30th September 2021.

One-time payment of S$5,000 to S$10,000 with a Singapore-issued Visa, Mastercard or UnionPay credit card. |

1.85% (+S$10 voucher) |

One-time payment of above S$10,000 with a Singapore-issued Visa, Mastercard or UnionPay credit card. |
As with the new user offer, the payment due date (which is the last date on which the payment must arrive at the recipient) must be on or before 7th October 2021.
In each case, the promo code may only be redeemed once per user and is limited to the first 99 redemptions.
You will receive the Lazada voucher via email within one month from 7th October 2021 (i.e. by 7th November 2021), provided all the criteria were fulfilled.

In this case the vouchers effectively reduce your CardUp fee to a competitive 1.75% (provided you will use the vouchers, of course), but only at the ‘sweet spot’ transaction levels of exactly S$5,000 (99CARDUP5) or exactly S$10,000 (99CARDUP10).
Make a payment between S$5,000 and S$10,000 using the S$5 voucher promo code or above S$10,000 with the S$10 voucher code and you’ll generally be getting a poorer rate of between 1.76% and 1.8%.

Income tax offer
Don’t forget that CardUp recently extended its income tax payment offers this year, with a 1.75% fee.

One-time IRAS income tax payment with a Singapore-issued Visa, Mastercard or UnionPay credit card. |
All users can now set up the payment by 26th December 2021 with a due date as late as 7th January 2022, in addition to the eligible 9.9 promotion codes available for one-time payments by the end of September.
This is a one-time use promo code, so to maximise the value you should pay your annual tax as a single lump sum where possible.
Terms and conditions can be found here.
Before you make a decision on miles earning with your income tax payment this year, be sure to check out our detailed and continually updated analysis of the options available across all the providers, since there are some great deals to be had this year depending on which cards you hold.
1.7% fee for OCBC cardholders
If you’re holding the OCBC Voyage, Premier Visa Infinite or 90°N cards, CardUp has a special one-time offer with a fee of 1.7% on any payment type (including income tax).
This deal has also recently been extended and is now valid for payments due by 30th September 2021, instead of 27th August 2021.

The interesting thing about this deal is that despite the lower fee (1.7% vs. 1.75%), the flexibility of these codes (any payment type) means that provided you have another bill to pay aside from your income tax, it’s usually better to save this one for an alternative payment and stick to the CUTAX2021 code to settle your tax bill.
See our dedicated article for full details on why, plus links to the latest terms and conditions.
Summary
CardUp is certainly pushing the offers out this year for personal users, which is great for our readers as it means the opportunity to buy miles from as little as 1.04 cents each.
Even existing users with relatively mundane 1.2 mpd cards can buy miles for 1.43 cents each under this latest 9.9 promotion, provided they have an exact S$5,000 or S$10,000 payment to make, once the value of the Lazada vouchers is accounted for.
There are also extensions to CardUp’s income tax payment deal and an offer for some OCBC cardholders, running alongside this new promotion, so it could be time to consider structuring any payments you need to make this month to maximise as many of these deals as you can.
If you’re a Citi cardholder and you’re looking to make recurring payments, don’t forget to check our earlier article about PayAll’s latest offer, which allows you to buy miles from 0.63 cents a piece between now and the end of 2021.
