Earlier today we revealed the two-way eligibility and process details for those using the upcoming Singapore – Malaysia joint Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL) for fully vaccinated travellers to fly quarantine-free between the two countries, starting with specific flights between Changi Airport and Kuala Lumpur International Airport on 29th November 2021.
Now we have the all-important news on which flights are designated VTL services, which you’ll need to book in both directions on this route to take part in the scheme and avoid any SHN period.
Designated VTL flights
The list of six airlines operating designated VTL flights has been outlined, with confirmed VTL flight schedules published by five of these so far.
Singapore – Kuala Lumpur VTL

| 7 x weekly | |
| 4 x weekly | |

SIA and Scoot will share their 14-times weekly allocation, with the mainline carrier taking the lion’s share of 10 services and Scoot picking up the other four.

VTL in both directions
The important thing to note is that this represents the first bilateral Vaccinated Travel Lane where you must take a designated VTL flight from Singapore as well as when returning to Singapore (or vice-versa for those starting their trip in KL), to enjoy quarantine-free arrival status as part of the scheme.
Here’s the announced schedule so far, outlining the flights you’ll need to book when travelling on the VTL between the two cities.

Important
From 1st April 2022, there will be no more designated VTL flights to Singapore. All fully vaccinated travellers can enter quarantine-free on any flight operated by any airline on any route.
As you can see there are options throughout the day including both full-service and low-cost carriers.

SIA’s flights are operated by three-class Airbus A350s, which nicely slot into these KL rotations in between their more regular long-haul duties.
That means those redeeming or booking in Business Class have the 2013 long-haul seats to look forward to on this short hop.

An SIA spokesperson told us their flights will be loaded into the reservation system by 10am on 19th November 2021, and indicated as VTL-eligible “progressively”.
You’ll also pick up the Thompson Vantage Business Class seat in Malaysia Airlines Business Class on that carrier’s daily A330 service between Singapore and KL.
That was actually one of our last Business Class flights before COVID-19, despite being a work trip!
Non-VTL flights
Perhaps equally important when booking your trip to and from Kuala Lumpur is to know which flights aren’t designated VTL services, since not all airlines make this clear.
Singapore Kuala Lumpur
Non-VTL
- 3K685 services are not designated VTL flights.
- 3K687 services are not designated VTL flights.

- SQ126 services (daily) are not designated VTL flights.
- TR452 services (Wed) are not designated VTL flights.
- TR456 services (Thu, Sat) are not designated VTL flights.
- TR466 services (Tue, Thu, Fri, Sun) are not designated VTL flights.
Kuala Lumpur Singapore
Non-VTL
- 3K686 services are not designated VTL flights.

The process
Here’s a reminder for those who missed it earlier on the process for travellers using the Singapore – Malaysia VTL.
Singapore – Kuala Lumpur

Eligibility and Process
- All nationalities are accepted (visa may be required).
- No advance application is required, except if you require a Malaysian entry visa, based on nationality.
- You must have no travel history to any place other than Singapore or Malaysia in the last consecutive 14 days prior to departure to Malaysia. This sticking point applies even if you have been in other VTL countries – Malaysia does not recognise those under this scheme.
- You must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 with any WHO approved vaccine, or one approved by a stringent regulatory authority, including different vaccine brands for respective doses. A digitally verifiable vaccination certificate is required.
- Children aged 12 or under based on date of birth are exempt from the vaccination requirement, when travelling with fully vaccinated adults.
- You must have a travel insurance policy with a minimum coverage of RM100,000 (~S$32,500) for COVID-19 related medical costs (short-term visitors only, including business travellers).
- You must have a negative COVID-19 PCR test result within two days before departure from the Singapore (children aged 2 or below in the calendar year are exempt).
- You must have a return ticket (short-term visitors only). Presumably, an onward ticket out of Malaysia is also acceptable, in case you want to head to another VTL country like the UK.
- You must travel on designated VTL flights from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur (see above).
- You must complete a COVID-19 PCR test on arrival at BP Clinical Health Lab KLIA (pre-immigration).
- Await the results in a designated waiting area (available within 1-3 hours).
- Clear immigration.
- Download the MySejahtera app and adhere to prevailing public health measures during your stay.
- You may transfer to the rest of peninsular Malaysia after arrival, including islands such as Penang and Langkawi.
Travelling back to Singapore (or outbound if you’re originating there) means a process most readers are already familiar with, as shown below.
Kuala Lumpur – Singapore

Eligibility and Process
- All nationalities are accepted (visa may be required).
- Have no travel history to any place other than Malaysia, Singapore, any Category 1 country or any VTL countries in the last consecutive 14 days prior to departure to Singapore.
- Be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (any WHO approved vaccine) in Malaysia, Singapore or any VTL country, with the final dose completed at least 14 days prior to arrival in Singapore, including digitally certifiable evidence (QR code).
- Children aged 12 or under in the calendar year of arrival are exempt from the vaccination requirement, when travelling with fully vaccinated adults.
- Apply for a Vaccinated Travel Pass (VTP) between 7 and 60 days before your intended date of entry into Singapore (visitors and LTP holders only).
- Purchase COVID-19 travel insurance with a coverage of at least S$30,000 (short-term visitors only).
- Have a negative COVID-19 PCR or ART test result from a recognised testing institution within two calendar days prior to departure from the VTL country (children 2 or under in the calendar year of arrival are exempt).
- Travel on designated VTL flights from Kuala Lumpur to Singapore (see above).
- Complete a COVID-19 PCR test on arrival at Singapore Changi Airport (children 2 or under in the calendar year of arrival are exempt).
- Download and activate the TraceTogether app (visitors only).
- Self-isolate at place of residence or suitable accommodation such as a hotel or serviced apartment until negative test result received (typically 4-6 hours).
- Attend a Day 3 and Day 7 supervised self-swab ART test, if still in Singapore on those days (Day 1 is your arrival day).
COVID-19 testing costs
Singapore residents travelling to Kuala Lumpur will require a pre-departure PCR test, taken within two days of the departure date from Singapore (e.g. departure on 10th December, test on 8th December 00:00 onwards), plus an on-arrival PCR test at KLIA.
This is in addition to four VTL tests on the journey back to Singapore (pre-departure ART/PCR + on-arrival PCR + Day 3 ART + Day 7 ART).
VTL
|
| Test | Cost |
| Singapore pre-departure* | S$107 – S$200 |
| KLIA Arrival | S$81 (MY nationals) S$114 (SG & other nationals) |
| Malaysia pre-departure (ART)* | ~S$30 – S$45 |
| Singapore arrival | S$125 |
| Day 3 | S$15 |
| Day 7 | S$15 |
| Total | S$373 – S$514 |
* Prices vary between providers and locations.
As you can see that means an approximate S$370 – S$520 per head testing cost, for a round-trip – so no such thing as “a cheap weekend in KL” for a while!
Summary
With 42 flights a week in each direction, this is by far the biggest VTL schedule yet and the first real detachment from a Singapore Airlines stronghold in the scheme, giving us five other airline options to choose from on this 1-hour (but let’s face it – 35 minutes in the air) jaunt to and from our nearest neighbouring city.
Unfortunately the process and its associated costs, with four COVID-19 tests on a round-trip, will put many off booking, but it’s great to see a start to cross-border travel with Malaysia ahead of a land border opening, also slated for late 2021.
Will you be booking a trip on the VTL flights to or from Kuala Lumpur? Let us know in the comments section below.

Wow, you are really fast. Thanks!
There should only be 42 weekly flights by all airlines, not 49.
so, no news whether can transfer from KL to Sabah or Sarawak

thank you
thank you for the great compilation.
Excellent piece of work. Thanks!
Wonderful work in putting together the above useful information!
I have redeem flight SQ106 and SQ105 for mid Dec to early Jan but it is the same timing as SQ108 and SQ107. I don’t think 2 flights of SQ will take off and land at the same time. Will SQ jusr automatically change my flight redemption to VTL flight or if they change my flight schedule do you think I can opt for free cancellation from SQ ? I wanted to travel via VTL to avoid quarantine now
I believe by tomorrow the flight numbers will be amended and you can check your booking after that
Thank you so much for your advice. I will wait for tomorrow.
They have actually changed the time of SQ105 and SQ106, making new flights for SQ107 and SQ108. Luckily I checked my phone in the night so called them immediately and they were able to change to the VTL flights for me.
I have exactly the same flight numbers too. Too bad the A380 is not deployed after Dec 3(?) on SQ 106
Facing the same issue as u are.
I booked the same flights as yours when they first announced VTL flights between SIN-KUL, not knowing which is VTL or not. SQ changed the non-VTL SQ106 to the VTL-compliant SQ108 without any charge. But for SQ105, I had to pay about SG100 for change to the VTL-compliant SQ107. So, all in all the ticket cost me about SG390 after all the changes. Sorry to say this but this is really the time for all the airlines serving KL/SIN to go for the kill in terms of airfares !
I book the scoot ticket after saw your post, thabks for the great information and procedure
Hi, where are you getting this info from? I don’t see the VTL status those flights on scoot’s website for example.
You do have to dig a little.
It’s odd, I don’t see that box myself but thank you
Hi Joe. Do we need to call SQ to chance our non VTL flight to any available VTL flight? My flight SG106 Airbus A380 800 SIN KUL. actually they already revised flight to 1hour delay.
Hi Andrew thanks for your prompt compilation, this is very helpful! I’ve seen information on SIA and Scoot’s websites on the VTL flights but not on AA or Jetstar or Malindo. Is this really accurate?
yes same would like to know before placing bookings

https://support.airasia.com/s/article/Travel-Requirements-Singapore?language=en_GB#Vaccinated_Travel_Lane_VTL
where did u find information on AirAsia’s VTL flight?
I found it here: https://newsroom.airasia.com/news/airasia-sgmy-vtl
Thanks, Andrew, for compiling these. For MH, it seems that they are still updating their flight schedules on the website (e.g., for November 29, there’s only one SIN-KUL flight MH606 instead of MH614)?
From what I’m seeing, there’s one SIN-KUL / KUL-SIN flight per day up until December 31, either MH606 / MH603, or MH614 / MH611. There’s no official mention on whether these are VTL flights, but they’re all served using A333s.
Do you happen to have more official information, or are you also using the same sources as I am?
MH603/606 is confirmed as the daily VTL flight.
Yes, apparently just this morning, by MH themselves.
Hi, Any knows if 3years old need to do swab test pre departure and on arrival pcr test or not? Thanks!
After arrived in KLIA, can we go to selangor or other state in Msia? Can we stay at local residential or we need to stay only in hotel!
I checked air asia website and the flight you indicated as a VTL flight for air asia, while the flight number is the same, the timing is different. where is your source and is it accurate?
AK710/711 is the designated VTL flight but the timing has been adjusted to and fro, and I’m not sure what they’ll eventually settle on!
I can’t find any airasia flights now even on their website. you think they’ll be updated soon?
Thanks Andrew! your responses here have been very helpful throughout the course of today. Appreciate your work and how you have helped all Malaysians have an easier time to return home. =)
Hi, I booked the same flight as yours and I am having the same issue tho. The one that I booked is 2.05pm (AK710), 12.30pm (AK711). It seems they have change it to earlier timing.
AA website have updated this information, AK710 & AK 711 is designated as VTL flights
Source: https://support.airasia.com/s/article/Travel-Requirements-Malaysia?language=en_GB
SG Airlines yet to release booking for VTL flights. =(
Flights are now loaded but you may need to keep checking as availability is often loaded in ‘batches’.
how to tell if the flight is under VTL when booking
where is your source for Airasia VTL schedule. AirAsia website don’t announce anything
Is the AA VTL flights shown above reliable? didnt indicate VTL in website unlike Scoot
How do you know MH606 is a VTL flight when MH has not announced anything yet?
HI Rehman,
I was lucky to have bought MAS before hand and now they informed me that it is changed, just got the email at 11am today 19 Nov.
so the information provided is accruate.

Hi, I have just spoken with Malaysia Airline and they are saying that they have not had confirmation from the government on VTL flight arrangements yet. Could you let us know if this is correct up to date information and if it is safe to go ahead and book?
I can see SQ and Scoot have VTL flight availability on their sites.
confirmed is correct, I was informed by MAS.
VTL passengers from Singapore can connect on Malaysia Airlines services from Kuala Lumpur to domestic destinations in Malaysia namely Alor Setar, Bintulu, Johor Bahru, Kota Kinabalu, Kuala Terengganu, Kuantan, Kuching, Labuan, Langkawi, Miri, Penang, Sandakan, Sibu, and Tawau.

Leanne, at this point of time the flight schedule of the flights above are slightly different from what you listed – do you mean they will change the time later?
Hi Leanne, a bit confusing on the flight timing which currently showing in the MAS’s website are mismatch with the details that you shared. Can I assume that MAS will be update the timing later?
Thanks, some slight timing changes already but MH603/606 is the one.
On Mon, MAS sent another notice and all the airport in Sabah & Sarawak were removed. meaning I can’t transit to Sabah or Sarawak 🙁
MH603/606 confirmed as the daily VTL flights by MH.
Good job! Please share the info after Jetstar announced bthe VTL Flight Schedule.
Jetstar Asia flights have now been added.
Hi, I’m also looking at MAS flights, any official announcement yet?
Hi I just wonder both flight must be VTL ? For example I go back Malaysia by normal flight which I need to quarantine for 7 days…but when I return to sg I buy VTL flight…can I eligible for the quarantine free health protocol?
Yes you can use the VTL in one direction if you meet the criteria.
Hi is it confirmed that we ‘need to book in both directions on this route to take part in the scheme and avoid any SHN period’? i am planning to travel to Malaysia before 29 Nov, which means i will serve 7 days quarantine in Malaysia, and return in Dec. I do not need VTP. in this case, if i return via VTL flight in Dec, i will still need to serve SHN for 7 days because i do not book in both directions?
No you will be able to use the VTL in one direction KUL-SIN with quarantine-free arrival if you meet the criteria. It doesn’t have to be a round-trip.
Are SQ VTL flights to KL already sold out? I clicked through Dec-Feb on the booking page but can’t find VTL flights
I doubt it, they are probably just working on the schedules at the back end.
Also SIA removes availability and re-adds it later while it works on its pricing strategy for the flight. It did this several times for the Hong Kong ATB services despite flight not actually being “full”.
Keep checking!
I just got through SIA call centre after waiting an hour, fortunately the officer was very helpful. Earliest economy class available on 21 Dec! So I’ve booked Jetstar instead for an earlier flight.
Hi, before this I have read that we do not need to book VTL flight to Malaysia (VTL country). It is only for arriving in SG need a VTL flight.. Am I right? So after new SOP, they need us to book VTL flight to Malaysia as well? So both journey SG TO KUL, KUL TO SG need VTL flight. Please correct me if I am wrong.
Yes for quarantine-free travel in both directions you need to take a designated VTL flight on SIN-KUL and KUL-SIN.
Hi May I know is MH603 still a VTL flight after 31 December 2021?
Yes until 26 March 2022
Thanks Andrew! 😀
Hi Andrea , just to confirm MH603 is a VTL flight from KL to Singapore on 1st Jan 2022?
Where can we do our return 48hrs PCR test in KL or genting ?
Upon completion what shall we do ?
Hi, anyone here has existing booking with SQ, and had successfully been re-booked onto VTL flights?
My booking reference changed a few times automatically but it sets back to the original booking now on non-VTL flight.
Not sure if its Full Capacity or SQ is just working on it?
Thanks.
I changed my non VTL flight to a VTL flight via “manage booking” online.
Awesome job thanks for compiling this so quickly!
I think the other blog is a bit butt sore you got all this up first 🤣
Hi Andrew and everyone! I’ve just booked my flight via MH for MH603 and MH606 but the timings are not reflected correctly and the Aircraft as well ): Does this mean it’s not correct? MAS is very confusing…
Andrew – can I ask how you got your hands on the MH flights? I’m nervous purchasing them because nothing on the website indicates that it’s a VTL flight
You can see the schedule here: https://www.malaysiaairlines.com/mhapp/hq/en/important-notice/malaysia.html
Sorry, but that link says nothing about VTL flights. Do you have another link?
Shows clearly for me via that link.
Bee, you may want to refer to Leanne’s comment above for MH’s schedule. They sent an email regarding VTL flights.
Thanks very much, Andrew!
JETSTAR VTL FLIGHT
Flights 3K683 and 3K684 between Kuala Lumpur and Singapore are designated Vaccinated Travel Lane services and VTL conditions apply. All other services between Kuala Lumpur and Singapore are non-Vaccinated Travel Lane services and quarantine restrictions may apply on arrival.
Hi Andrew thanks for the info. AirAsia did it once again. After I booked my flight in the morning they cancelled both flights AK 710 & 711 and now you can’t even book through Dec. Any idea if Malaysian Airlines VTL flights are confirmed for December?
Appreciate that SQ took the initiative to rebook my redemption flights onto the VTL flights for SIN KUL SIN. I guessed the timing of the flights correctly but didn’t expect SQ to introduce new flight number over the time slot. So the rebooking initiatives certainly helped save the restless hours waiting on the phone to SQ. Thank you SQ.
Hi. Received a reply from MAS regarding VTL flights. And this is their reply today at 4pm:
Thank you for contacting us. Please be informed that Malaysia Airlines is working closely with the relevant authorities and partners to roll out the Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL) and will be sharing more details soon. As of now, the schedule for 29 November 21 until 31 December 21 will be as follows:
MH603 KUL-SIN
TIME: 1150
MH606 SIN-KUL
TIME: 1355
The flights will be available daily.
While the availability from 1 January 2022 until 26 March 2022 will be as follows:
MH601 KUL-SIN

The flights will be available from Monday to Saturday.
Please stay tuned to our website for more information.
So MH has still not confirmed their VTL flights yet?

how about if i stay in KL for a day? and fly from KL to Sabah, then will it treated as domestic flight then can exempted from quarantine?
For now, don’t think you can. I got this email from MAS as I am on their MH flight to KL. no transit to East Malaysia.
Travel Advisory – Malaysia-Singapore Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL)
Malaysia Airlines welcomes the announcement on the special Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL) between the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and Changi Airport. Starting from 29 November 2021, fully vaccinated travellers who have tested negative for COVID-19 will enjoy a quarantine-free travel between the two countries.
With the implementation of the VTL, Malaysia Airlines will be increasing seat capacity and operate 1x daily on the Airbus 330 (instead of twice weekly on the Boeing 738 currently) starting 29 November 2021 to 26 March 2022.
VTL passengers from Singapore can connect on Malaysia Airlines services from Kuala Lumpur to domestic destinations in Peninsular Malaysia only namely Alor Setar, Johor Bahru, Kuala Terengganu, Kuantan, Langkawi, Penang.
Great work Andrew. I am a Singaporean and my wife is Indian. Think she will need Malaysian Visa. I went to mustafa and their travel section is closed. Can anyone in forum advise where we can get an Malaysian Visa in Singapore ?
Hi, Andrew! Just want to confirm, saw that you mentioned Singapore arrival PCR swab results will be out within 4-6 hrs, is that timeframe reliable? Am a bit worried because ICA guidelines give a “within 24hrs” timeframe (I still need to work the next day after I return to Singapore!! T_T) I hope they do process Changi on-arrival PCR swabs faster than the usual routine swabs?
Yes 4-6 hours for everyone I’ve heard from lately.
Hi, anyone who booked on SQ 122 received an email from Singapore Airline today that you are subject to quarantine and that it is not a VTL anymore? Its strange that SQ 122 was designated as a VTL flight at the time of my booking, I checked again – even today SQ 122 is still tagged as VTL flight. FYI, my departure date is mid-Dec. Anyone here face the same issue?
it was a mistake, SIA clarified https://www.channelnewsasia.com/singapore/singapore-airlines-sia-malaysia-vtl-email-testing-quarantine-2333046
Has the VTP application rules changed? Can only seem to make entry application up to 7 days before arrival – is it not 7-60 days before anymore?
Yes it’s temporarily 7-13 days from intended entry due to high demand. Hopefully returns to normal soon.
Thanks for the great compilation work Andrew! So lucky to have come across your page. I’m a Malaysian (Sg PR) with Singaporean children below 12 years old.
May I check how long do we have to wait for our PCR Swab result on arriving Msia? And whether is it necessary to wait in the airport for the result before we can head home?
Thanks so much for clarification 🙏🙏
Hi Leona, wait at the airport. quite clear on this link. https://airport.doctor2u.my/instruct/1
Hi, I am booked on SIN-KUL on non VTL flight as i have an onward trip( separate tickets) to Ukraine. (KUL-Ukraine)Do i need to book the SIN-KUL on VTL? My return ticket for KUL-SIN is on VTL though.
Hi! If I book a VTL flight from Singapore to KL via Jetstar, can I continue my journey to Johor Bahru without being quarantined? Or Johor quarantine rules will apply?
Yes you go to JB without quarantine. It is Sarawak n Sabah that still need approval from respective state.
Thank you! If I arrive at 8.25am flight and booked the 1 hour PCR test, do you think I can make it in time to transfer for domestic AirAsia flight at 12.40pm?
Hi YY, it depends on any flight delay n which terminal u land n connect to as the 2 terminal are not within walking distance. The 1 hr PCR I taken on 29 Nov is quite accurate from the time u test to getting the result via email & WhatsApp. Think 90 min just to be on the safe side
Hi, we are traveling on a VTL to KL with AirAsia in a week. Our child was born in 2019. We understand we don’t need an on-arrival PCR for her at KLIA. How about a pre-departure test? We are getting some conflicting information and after hours of searching we cannot find a link or so that would give us confidence. The article you wrote suggests we don’t need a test for her. But, where does this info come from? Thanks!
According to Singapore Airlines, children under two in the calendar year are exempt from pre-departure testing when travelling to Malaysia on the VTL.
