Citi PremierMiles 25,000 miles sign-up bonus or S$350 cash

Buy 25,000 miles for 0.77 cents each with the Citi PremierMiles sign-up bonus between now and 30th June 2022, with only S$800 spend in the first two months.

Alternatively, pick up S$350 cash for S$500 spend via SingSaver.

Citi has launched a new bonus miles offer for the popular PremierMiles card between now and the end of June 2022, allowing you to net 25,000 bonus miles with a reduced minimum spend of only S$800 in the first two months, provided you’re not currently a primary Citi credit card holder or you cancelled your last card with the bank more than 12 months ago.

This allows you to buy miles for just 0.77 cents each, a very competitive rate, provided you have a relatively modest spend coming up in the next few months, which can also include Citi PayAll transactions under the latest 2.5 mpd offer.

There continue to be two sign-up offers for new customers, depending on whether you wish to pay the first year annual fee or not.

Sign-up bonus

Here are the full details of the sign-up bonus options for the Citi PremierMiles card, for applications by 30th June 2022.

The main offer – 25,000 miles bonus:

Provided you don’t currently hold a Citi credit card as the primary cardholder and haven’t held one in the 12 months before application, you’ll be eligible for a bonus of 25,000 miles, subject to having S$800 of spending to make from the approval date until the end of the second full calendar month, not including the calendar month of card approval.

For example, if you are approved for the card on 7th May 2022, the qualifying spend period is from that date until 31st July 2022 (two full calendar months from 1st June 2022).

It is subject to payment of the annual fee, which is S$192.60. Your card must be approved within 30 days of the application date.

Bonus miles are awarded within two months of meeting the spend criteria.

Pro Tip: Try to get approved towards the beginning of the month to give yourself almost three months to meet the spend threshold.

Here’s how the bank outlines the offer:

Remember you will also earn 960 miles for the S$800 spend itself, assuming eligible local transactions on your card, for a total earning of 25,960 miles, though these extra 960 miles aren’t part of the bonus since you would receive them anyway without any offer running.

Cost per mile is the annual fee (S$192.60) divided by the bonus (25,000) = 0.77 cents each.

Full terms and conditions for the main sign-up offer can be found here.

No annual fee offer – 5,000 miles bonus:

If you’re still new to Citi credit cards but prefer not to pay the annual fee (first year fee waiver), and will also spend at least S$800 from card approval to the end of the second full calendar month following the month card approval (as defined above), you will earn a 5,000 miles bonus.

Including the 960 miles you’ll earn for the spend itself, under this offer you’re effectively earning 7.5 mpd for the first S$800 spend (5,960 total miles earned divided by S$800).

The terms and conditions for the 5,000 bonus miles offer can be found here.

Existing Citi cardholders

If you already hold a Citi credit card, but not the PremierMiles product, Citi also has a sign-up offer for you with a bonus of 13,500 miles, plus a S$100 Kaligo.com e-Voucher for redemption against a future hotel stay.

In this case you’ll have to spend a significant S$9,000 in the first three months to be eligible, and pay the first year S$192.60 fee, which means buying miles at a much less attractive 1.43 cents each.

Note that the Kaligo.com e-Voucher must be redeemed by 31st December 2022 and is only valid for 2+ night stays, which may be restrictive.

Alternatively, existing Citi credit card customers can simply opt for first year fee waiver, with no bonus miles.

Full terms and conditions are available here, with applications for existing cardholders here.

Eligible spend

With these sign-up offers you’ll have to make sure your minimum spend (e.g. S$800 for the maximum bonus) falls under eligible categories, which Citi defines as:

Any retail transactions (including internet purchases) which do not arise from:

  • Annual fees, interest charges, late payment charges, GST, cash advances, instalment / easy / extended / equal payment plans, preferred payment plans, balance transfers, cash advances, quasi-cash transactions, all fees charged by Citibank or third party, miscellaneous charges imposed by Citibank (unless otherwise stated in writing by Citibank);
  • Funds transfers using the card as source of funds;
  • Bill payments (including via Citibank Online or via any other channel or agent)

Citi PayAll transactions are counted towards the minimum spend, with regular offers to buy miles at competitive rates, including the latest deal earning 2.5 mpd with the Citi PremierMiles card, which means buying miles at just 0.8 cents each.

Citi Miles are very flexible

One of the best things about Citi Miles (and Citi ThankYou points) in Singapore is the wide range of transfer partners compared with other bank loyalty points.

You can transfer your miles into 10 different frequent flyer programmes and into IHG points.

SingSaver alternative

If you’re new to Citi cards and spending S$800 in the first two months sounds a bit steep, you can also consider an alternative deal through SingSaver until 4th May 2022, where you’ll instead be eligible to receive one of the following gifts:

  • Apple iPad 9th Gen (worth S$499); or

Summary

The competitive sign-up award for Citi’s PremierMiles card has been reduced to 25,000 bonus miles, but with a much reduced minimum spend of S$800 in the first two months, which should be easy to achieve. This latest deal is for applications made by 30th June 2022.

It’s the equivalent of buying miles for 0.77 cents each, for those with S$800 spend to make in the first two months.

There’s also a fee-free option with 5,000 bonus miles on offer for the same spend level, equivalent to earning 7.5 mpd on the first S$800 spend.

You might qualify having cancelled your last Citi credit card more than 12 months ago (for example, if you cancelled in March 2021 or earlier, you’re now eligible).

For those with a lower spend coming up, SingSaver continues to push out some competitive sign-up deals, including S$350 cash via PayNow for applications by 4th May.
