HSBC and Agoda are back with their regular three-day flash sale for discounted hotel stays worldwide, offering 20% off for bookings locked in this weekend for stays completed by 30th September 2023, plus there’s a direct staycation deal at the Goodwood Park Hotel.

These promotions can be great for those who are holding the revamped HSBC Revolution credit card, since it means earning 4 mpd for the payment on top of the attractive discount, though do be aware not all hotels are eligible for the Agoda offer, and the Goodwood Park deal is capped at the first 50 bookings.

In both cases you’ll need to book between Friday 5th May 2023 and Sunday 7th May 2023 to benefit from the discount, and for the direct Goodwood Park offer that’ll mean firing off an email reservation request just after midnight on Thursday (00:00h on Friday) if you can, to be in with the best chance.

Which card?

These offers are open to all HSBC Singapore cardholders, but wherever possible, you should be using your HSBC Revolution credit card for these bookings, to earn 4 mpd on the first S$1,000 spend at hotels per calendar month.

Agoda offer

HSBC and Agoda are running a three-day flash sale for cardholders booking worldwide hotel stays between Friday 5th May and Sunday 7th May, for stays through to 30th September 2023.

The discount is capped at S$200 per booking, and replaces the usual year-round 7% discount (for worldwide hotels) at Agoda for HSBC cardholders.

Although the discount is offered across all HSBC credit cards in Singapore, combining it with the Revolution’s 4 mpd rate for Agoda bookings makes the deal even sweeter, so this is the one to go for in our opinion.

Just make sure you’ll stick within the S$1,000 spend cap per calendar month in the bonus category, otherwise it drops to 0.4 mpd.

Your 20% discount applies to the room rate only (excluding taxes), and you may need to act fast because it’s only available for the first 200 bookings.

Example

Here’s an example of how the HSBC Agoda staycation booking discount with a previous 15% discount looks.

This S$28 saving (15%) example is where you’ll see the discount reflect at the enhanced 20% level when booking between 5th May and 7th May, for stays from now until 30th September 2023.

Remember, not all hotels are included in the Agoda HSBC deal (‘Promo Eligible’ only), so the offer is only useful if your preferred property is participating.

Also, while 20% off stacked with up to 4 mpd is a very attractive deal, make sure you’re not paying over the odds for the miles (not too much anyway), and that you’re not losing out on benefits you would value more, that may not be included in an eligible Agoda package.

Goodwood Park staycation deal

Here’s how the deal looks for the Goodwood Park Hotel, for stays in a Poolside Suite between late May and the end of September 2023. Note that weekend rates are now cheaper than mid-week stays – a reflection of more normal hotel occupancy trends in Singapore, now that borders have reopened and business travel is back.

To get the best deal you’ll probably have to act fast when the clock strikes midnight on Thursday night (i.e. at 00:00h on Friday 7th April) and send your email, or schedule an email to auto-send with your reservation request.

This deal offers upwards of S$140 saving on the usual nightly rate for this room type on the dates we checked, before accounting for the S$120 of dining credits and the 15% discount on other restaurant spend – so it’s definitely worth considering if you can be among the first 50 to book.
