Singapore Airlines has recently finalised its flight schedules and aircraft type allocation for the northern summer season, which runs from late March 2025 to late October 2025, including its sought-after Airbus A380 services, which will see the carrier’s superjumbos operating to and from up to seven cities on the network during this period.
Unfortunately not all of these routes are season-long, with Tokyo only seeing the superjumbo for a short stint in May 2025 (during which it ‘borrows’ an aircraft from one of the regular Sydney superjumbo flights), and both Delhi and Mumbai dropping off the type’s route map for a couple of months, to allow short-term A380 operation to and from Shanghai.
As such, only three cities will actually see consistent daily A380 operation between now and the end of October this year – Frankfurt, London and Sydney.
This comes as well-documented maintenance requirements for these aircraft have led to significant schedule cuts for around a year already.

Singapore Airlines will operate 98 weekly A380 flights for most of summer 2025 – a far cry from the 126 weekly flights we saw with the type back in January 2024 – underscoring the fleet’s ongoing maintenance challenges.
This will leave three or even four of the 12-strong fleet of aircraft out of action at any one time, based on confirmed schedules over the next eight months.
The schedules
Here’s how the Singapore Airlines Airbus A380 schedules look on these routes between now and late October 2025.
🇮🇳 Delhi

The Singapore – Delhi route sees SIA Airbus A380 operation on a daily basis for both the remainder of the current winter season and the upcoming summer 2025 season, with the exception of a five-week period between late June and late July, when an aircraft is reassigned from the route to support temporary Shanghai operation.

🇩🇪 Frankfurt

Singapore Airlines sadly no longer operates the Airbus A380 on its Singapore – Frankfurt – New York route, downgrading the service to the smaller Boeing 777-300ER aircraft back in May 2023, but the superjumbo was reinstated on daily Frankfurt terminator flights in late March 2024.
That continues for the northern summer 2025 season through to late October this year.

🇭🇰 Hong Kong

SIA effectively axed Airbus A380 operation on its Singapore – Hong Kong route back in October 2024, however there was a short-term appearance for the type over the Chinese New Year peak travel period in early 2025.
There is also a two-week stint coming up in the second half of March 2025, which sees daily SQ892/893 services operated by the A380 – temporarily replacing regular Boeing 777-300ER service – after which there are no further superjumbo schedules currently loaded for this route.

🇬🇧 London Heathrow

SIA’s Singapore – London Heathrow route usually receives twice daily Airbus A380 flights, supplementing twice daily Boeing 777-300ER service, for four times daily service in total, on a year-round basis.
That’s not what’s currently happening though, with aircraft maintenance woes causing the airline to scale back its superjumbo services on this key route to just once per day between 1st February 2025 and 29th March 2025.
Boeing 777-300ER flights have been scaled up to three times daily during this period, for an identical overall frequency to and from the UK capital.

🇨🇳 Shanghai

Singapore Airlines never seems very committed to serving its Shanghai route with the Airbus A380, having removed promised service using the superjumbo on SQ830/833 flights seemingly countless times over the last few years.
There is no current SIA A380 Shanghai service operating, with the most recent superjumbo stint on this route over the two-week peak Chinese New Year period in late January 2025.
However, the A380 is back on the Shanghai route, between late June 2025 and the end of August 2025, though this comes at the expense of the Delhi route for the first half of operation and the Mumbai route for the second half, as we outlined above.

SIA’s Singapore – Sydney route usually boasts two daily Airbus A380 options, with both SQ221/232 and SQ231/222 featuring the superjumbo.
That continues between now and late October 2025, however there is one exception – during May 2025 the airline is downgauging its SQ221/232 service to the Boeing 777-300ER, in order for the superjumbo to serve Tokyo Narita for a single month (see later in the article for details of that).

🇯🇵 Tokyo (Narita)

In August 2024, Singapore Airlines announced that it would be flying its A380s back to Tokyo again for the first two months of the summer 2025 season, between late March 2025 and the end of May 2025.
Unfortunately the carrier quietly altered its plans for this flight, deploying the Airbus A380 only for the month of May 2025, half the originally-proposed period.
From 30th March 2025 to 30th April 2025, the SQ638/637 service will still feature a First Class cabin, thanks to deployment of the four-class Boeing 777-300ER, but will then only feature to the Airbus A380 from 1st May 2025 to 31st May 2025.

Non-A380 SIA flights on the Tokyo route
- SIA operates a daily 777-300ER (SQ11/12) on the Tokyo Narita route.
- SQ637/637 flights use 777-300ER aircraft during April 2025 and 787-10 aircraft from June 2025 onwards.

As you can see the cheapest way to experience the A380’s latest cabins is between Singapore and Hong Kong, but the opportunity to do that is now very limited given only short-term operation in the second half of March 2025.
Both Delhi and Mumbai are also competitively priced, and often have good award availability, even in Suites and Business Class., but again each of those routes sees a five-week period with no A380 service, while Shanghai receives its short-term superjumbo stint.

SIA’s Airbus A380 fleet
Singapore Airlines reduced its fleet of Airbus A380s from 19 before the pandemic down to 12 aircraft.
All of the dozen A380s returning to operation have the new 2017 cabin products installed, and while all 12 of the jets are now part of the airline’s operating fleet, at the time of writing only eight SIA superjumbos are in service, with four undergoing maintenance work, as outlined below.

Thankfully only seven A380s are needed to operate the airline’s current superjumbo schedule, between now and mid-March 2025, with an eighth as an operational spare.
From mid-March 2025 through to late October 2025, the flying programme can be operated with eight A380s, with a ninth as an operational spare, suggesting that three A380s will continue to be out of action for most if not all of the next eight months.
This will probably happen on a rotating basis, as maintenance checks become due for specific aircraft in the fleet.

A380 cabin products
The A380 is popular with passengers in all cabin classes, but in particular it’s the latest Suites and Business Class seats rolled out in 2017 that are still a big draw for many of our readers.

There’s also a large 44-seat Premium Economy Class section, in the space the Suites cabin used to occupy in the older configuration, at the forward main deck.
The A380s also feature the latest KrisWorld in-flight entertainment system and Wi-Fi connectivity – now free and unlimited for all Suites and Business Class passengers, and for KrisFlyer members in Premium Economy and Economy Class.

What about 26th October 2025 onwards?
Singapore Airlines is already loading Airbus A380 operation on its network for the northern winter 2025/26 season from 26th October 2025 onwards, but there’s a big caveat here.
This is usually just a copy-paste of the previous winter season operation, and so isn’t necessarily indicative of the actual aircraft types that will operate on these routes at this early stage.
We tend to get more clarity on the final winter season schedules and aircraft allocation by around August, so don’t rely too much on the aircraft types listed beyond 26th October 2025 until then.
Some A380 routes are a sure bet, like SIA’s twice daily flights to Sydney and London. But beyond that, the airline has flexibility to reshuffle its superjumbo network – and as we’ve seen recently, even staple routes like London and Sydney can see temporary cuts.
Summary
Singapore Airlines is operating its Airbus A380s to three cities on a consistent basis between now and late October 2025; Frankfurt, London and Sydney.
However, there is a relatively full schedule to both Delhi and Mumbai, with only short-term removal of the A380 on those routes to support a temporary return for Shanghai between late June 2025 and the end of August 2025.
Tokyo also sees a one-month superjumbo operation in May 2025, though this is just half what the airline originally promised for the popular Japan route.
The thin route list comes despite the airline now having all 12 of its aircraft back in operation following the final cabin refit completion in November 2023, but Singapore Airlines confirmed to Mainly Miles last year that “regular maintenance” is the reason for the limited deployment.
Let’s hope the airline can work through most of the required downtime for its superjumbos before the start of the winter 2025/26 season, so that we can start to see a wider list of A380 routes once again.
