KrisFlyer Access award rates increase – Economy Class hit hardest

KrisFlyer has quietly raised the multipliers on Access awards, with Economy and Premium Economy seeing hikes of up to 11%, and Business and First Class rising by up to 4%.

Here's what's changed, and why.

Singapore Airlines has increased KrisFlyer Access award rates across all cabin classes in recent weeks, by adjusting the multipliers applied to underlying Saver and Advantage award chart rates.

The increases are steepest in Economy and Premium Economy, where the lowest Access multiplier has jumped from 1.3 to 1.43, a 10% rise in the miles required. Business and First Class have seen more modest increases of around 3-4%.

With Access awards tied to commercial fare bucket availability rather than a published award chart, the rate increases likely reflect the broader rise in airline fares across the region, driven by a recent doubling of jet fuel prices (~30% of SIA’s operating costs).

While some carriers have responded by imposing or increasing fuel surcharges, Singapore Airlines has not done so – meaning higher base fares are its primary lever, and Access award rates have simply followed suit.

Since Saver and Advantage award rates thankfully remain unchanged, the sole mechanism for these Access increases is higher multipliers on those fixed underlying rates, and that’s what we’ve seen change in recent weeks.

Access awards launched on 1st November 2025 as KrisFlyer’s dynamic pricing layer, offering “last-seat” availability on Singapore Airlines flights using miles, even when no Saver or Advantage award space exists.

Access awards mirror the terms of Advantage awards, and should usually only ever be considered when no Saver or Advantage space is available.

For a full breakdown of how Access works and when it might make sense to book one, see our original Access awards guide from November last year.

Access award rates are not truly dynamic in the way you might expect. Rather than fluctuating continuously, they sit at one of up to four fixed “steps” above the baseline Saver or Advantage award rate, with the step determined by the lowest commercial fare bucket still available for sale on that flight.

Note that the fare bucket assignments at each step appear unchanged – only the multipliers have moved. Singapore Airlines could adjust either element at any time, since there is no officially published Access award chart.

One of the easiest ways to check award pricing to and from Singapore is our miles by route tables, which have been fully updated with the latest rates for Saver, Advantage and Access options.

This page lets you view the chart by city rather than by zone, which many find useful.

Summary

In practical terms, the impact for most of our readers will be limited here.

Access awards should always be your last resort, and the hierarchy remains the same: target Saver first, Advantage second, then Access only if nothing else is available, and even then only after exploring cash tickets with SIA and others.

In some cases, even a Cash + Miles redemption comes in at better value than an Access award, as we showed back in our November analysis.

That said, the increases do widen the gap between Access and Advantage/Saver rates, particularly in Economy and Premium Economy where the multiplier has jumped from 1.3× to 1.43×.

A route that previously cost 30% more at Access rates now costs 43% more, which makes the value-per-mile calculation even harder to justify for leisure travellers.

Business and First Class Access increases are more modest at around 3-4%, and Access remains a viable (if expensive) option for genuine last-minute or must-travel scenarios in premium cabins, where cash fares can be eye-watering and alternative options may be limited or non-existent.

As always, check the value per mile before committing to any Access award. Our original guide walks through examples of when Access can – but let’s face it usually can’t – make sense.
