Singapore Airlines has finalised its flight schedules including days of operation and aircraft type allocation across its network for the upcoming summer travel season, which means we now have a firm idea of where and when the carrier will be flying through to the end of October 2025.
While flights for this period have been available for booking for some time, many of the frequencies and aircraft types were initially carried over as a “copy-paste” from the previous season’s schedules. As a result, they weren’t necessarily accurate – until now.
There are additional flights to Brisbane, London, Johannesburg and Seattle in the mix this year, though many regional routes will see frequency reductions, including Phuket, Penang, Siem Reap and Da Nang.
The overall passenger network will stand at 79 destinations for the mainline carrier next summer, with around 85% of pre-COVID capacity by flight volumes restored.
Headline figures
In total Singapore Airlines will fly over 2,230 passenger flights per week by October2025, its highest total since schedules were slashed in April 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
That’s around 85% of the pre-pandemic monthly total operated on the combined SilkAir / SIA network in January 2020. SilkAir was fully merged into SIA in May 2021.

Now that the northern summer 2025 schedule has been confirmed, and before we get into the full route list, here’s a quick summary of the most significant changes in store.
Major changes: Short- and medium-haul routes
- Beijing flight frequencies are up and down like a yo-yo during the upcoming summer season, with either two or three daily services to and from Capital Airport, with an additional one daily flight to and from newly-launched Daxing Airport, though the latter is suspended for over a month between late July and early September 2025.
- Brunei will see its daily flight curtailed to 5 per week from mid-September 2025.
- Cochin will increase from 10 to 14 weekly flights during April, May and June 2025.
- Da Nang will progressively drop from its current twice daily service to 12 flights per week from late March 2025, then down to 7 flights per week (1 per day) from 29th June 2025.
- Osaka drops from its regular 3 times daily service down to twice daily for several periods this summer, including for most of May and the whole of July.
- Penang will progressively drop from its current 5 daily services to 4 daily flights from late March 2025, and eventually to just 3 times daily by September 2025, the thinnest schedule we’ve seen on this route for over two years.
- Phuket sees a significant reduction from its usual 35 weekly flights (5 per day) to just 27 weekly services (around 4 per day on average) by September 2025.
- Seoul flights will reduce from 4 times daily to 3 times daily for the months of July, August and September 2025.
- Shanghai will increase from 4 to 5 times daily from 30th March 2025, as part of its regular seasonal hike.
- Siem Reap will progressively drop from its current twice daily service to 13 flights per week from late March 2025, down to 11 flights per week from May 2025, then 9 flights per week by September 2025.
- Tokyo Narita will receive short-term Airbus A380 service on one it its daily flights (SQ638/637), but only during May 2025, not during both April and May, as Singapore Airlines originally announced.

Major changes: Long-haul routes
- Auckland will see its usual seasonal reduction to a daily Singapore Airlines flight for the northern summer season, with Star Alliance partner Air New Zealand picking up the baton on two other daily services during the April to October 2025 period.
- Barcelona will have five times weekly non-stop flights this summer, up from the usual two, during the peak period between 22nd June 2025 and 4th September 2025. As such the Milan route will see daily terminator service, while the carrier’s intra-Europe “fifth freedom” flight between Milan and Barcelona will be suspended during this period.
- Dubai will upgauge to the four-class Boeing 777-300ER for the northern summer season, as we recently reported, brining First Class back to the route.
- Houston (via Manchester) will be axed from the network from late March 2025, as we reported last year, with Manchester itself retaining five times weekly terminator services. So far there are no hints as to how SIA will use a host of additional takeoff and landing slots it has secured at Manchester later this year.
- Johannesburg will see 2 additional weekly terminator flights than SIA previously announced, bringing frequencies to 12 times weekly from mid-June 2025.
- London Gatwick sees its five times weekly flights hiked to daily from late March 2025, as we reported last year.
- Melbourne picks up its usual seasonal increase from 4 to 5 times daily operation between April and October 2025.
- Rome will get a seasonal boost from 4 times weekly to 5 times weekly during the peak summer period between 26th June 2025 and 28th August 2025.
- Seattle will increase from 4 times weekly to 5 times weekly from 30th May 2025, as we recently reported.

“Fifth freedom” routes
Singapore Airlines will operate three “fifth freedom” routes during the summer 2025 season, on which it has traffic rights to sell tickets to passengers travelling solely between these foreign cities.
- Frankfurt to New York JFK (Boeing 777-300ER)
- Milan to Barcelona (Airbus A350 Long Haul)
except 22nd June 2025 – 4th September 2025 - Tokyo to Los Angeles (Boeing 777-300ER)

This is one fewer “fifth freedom” route than we’re used to seeing, with the withdrawal of Manchester – Houston flights from late March 2025.
Note that it is not possible to buy or redeem tickets to travel solely on the following Singapore Airlines routes:
- Johannesburg to Cape Town
- Cape Town to Johannesburg
On these flights, you must be travelling to or from Singapore.
SIA still has not programmed a return for its Singapore – Hong Kong – San Francisco flights since these were suspended in January 2022, when Hong Kong banned transit passengers, in another of its ever-changing travel restrictions during the pandemic era.

Which routes are left?
With 79 destinations across the Singapore Airlines and former SilkAir network now reinstated, it’s interesting to consider which cities or airports are still to be added to the list (or not, as the case may be).
Here’s the latest rundown.
Singapore Airlines / SilkAir Routes
Pending Reinstatement
| City / Airport | |
| Pending reinstatement (SIA route)
|
|
| Pending reinstatement (former SilkAir route)
|
|
| Transferred to Scoot (and still pending reinstatement)
|
|
| Discontinued since COVID-19 (no planned reinstatement) |

Summary
Singapore Airlines schedules get a couple of ‘big updates’ per year, and this is one of them, with flight frequencies and aircraft types confirmed for the northern summer season from late March 2025 to late October 2025.
For most routes it’s ‘status quo’, but there are reductions for the likes of Da Nang, Penang, Phuket and Siem Reap.
On the flip side it’s good to see increases in store for places like Brisbane, Johannesburg, Seattle and London Gatwick.
For fans of SIA’s intra-Europe Milan – Barcelona flight, do note that this one won’t be flying between late June and early September this year, as Barcelona gets a dedicated terminator flight bypassing the Italian city five days per week.
We will be updating our Business Class Seats by Route and First Class Seats by Route guides in the coming days with the new data through to the end of October 2025, based on the latest aircraft assignments on the network.
If you are booking flights beyond 25th October 2025, do be aware that next winter’s schedule is still somewhat provisional, especially as far as aircraft types are concerned. We’ll have more firm news on the schedule for that season in around July this year.

Adelaide also gets a split schedule for the 10 weekly flights with the existing daily flight going 5 per week and the current additional 3 flights per week going to 5 times per week also (taking over some of the existing days with no morning flight ex Adelaide anymore)
Do you think SQ is ever gonna have a connectivity with South American continent ?
Looking forward the SQ1 and SQ2 reestablish.
SQ used to fly to São Paulo from Singapore via Barcelona. Last flight was in 2016 (likely due to low demand)
Always a pleasure to be reading detailed posts like this. Thank you for doing the hard work!
