SIA offering 20% off Economy awards, 50% bonus miles accrual, transfer perks

To celebrate 10 million members, KrisFlyer is offering 20% off Economy redemptions network-wide for travel between May and November 2025.

Plus, there's a 50% bonus miles accrual deal and enhanced conversion rates with selected partners.

The Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer loyalty programme has reached a major milestone, surpassing 10 million members worldwide for the first time, and the airline is celebrating by rolling out a range of promotions in March 2025.

These include discounted award redemptions, bonus miles accrual, and enhanced conversion rates with selected partners.

“We are celebrating this milestone with exclusive promotions and mile accrual opportunities as a gesture of gratitude to our loyal members.”

Here’s what you need to know about the deal.

From now till 23rd March 2025, KrisFlyer members can redeem with a 20% discount on Economy Saver redemptions across the global Singapore Airlines network, for travel between May and mid-November this year.

Unfortunately that’s not quite as generous as the airline’s Global Redemption Sales for early 2024 and early 2025 travel, where a 25% discount was offered in each case, though this latest deal does cover a different time of year, including the peak June school holiday period.

Here’s how it works:

  • Eligible Bookings: Economy Class Saver award redemptions booked on the Singapore Airlines website or mobile app.
  • Booking Period: 7th March 2025 to 23rd March 2025.
  • Travel Period: 1st May 2025 to 15th November 2025.

That means awards during this period start from as little as 6,800 miles. The downside? These ‘Promo’ awards are subject to the usual ‘no refund, no cancellation’ terms – so be sure to have firm travel plans before committing.

Here’s how many miles the redemptions will price at by route, based on one-way travel or from Singapore.

The nice thing about this deal is that it works network-wide, so you’re not necessarily restricted to a redemption purely to or from Singapore.

Those redeeming, for example, from Melbourne to London via Singapore will also see a 20% discount reflected.

As you can see in this example, the usual Economy Saver award rate of 58,500 miles is replaced with a 46,800 miles deal (20% off).

Some blackout dates apply for this offer. See the full terms and conditions here for details.

KrisFlyer is also offering 20% off Premium Economy Class Saver award redemptions, but only on selected flights between Singapore and the USA.

  • Eligible Bookings: Premium Economy Class Saver award redemptions on selected routes between Singapore and the USA booked on the Singapore Airlines website or mobile app.
  • Booking Period: 7th March 2025 to 23rd March 2025.

If you’re planning to make a cash booking for a Singapore Airlines or Scoot flight, you may want to hold off until the end of the month before doing so.

That’s because a lucrative 50% bonus miles offer will be available, as follows:

  • Eligible Bookings: Those made on the Singapore Airlines or Scoot websites, or the respective mobile apps.
  • Booking Period: 24th March 2025 to 31st March 2025.
  • Travel Period: 1st April 2025 to 31st October 2025.

Unfortunately there is a 5,000 miles cap on the bonus, per sector flown, though the deal is eligible for all fare types, as follows:

  • First: All fares (F, A)
  • Business: Flexi (Z, C, J), Standard (U), Lite (D)
  • Premium Economy: Flexi (S, T), Standard (P, L), Lite (R)
  • Economy: Flexi (Y, B, E), Standard (M, H, W), Value (Q, N), Lite (V, K)

Despite the 5,000 miles cap, it’s almost impossible to hit it when travelling on an Economy Class fare, or with Scoot.

Only those in premium cabins, especially Business Class or First Class / Suites on long-haul flights, would hit the cap before the full 50% bonus is attained.

Full terms and conditions for this offer are:

  • Here for Scoot

Most if not all of our readers are already KrisFlyer or PPS Club members, but for those who aren’t there is now a sign-up bonus running.

Between 7th March 2025 and 31st March 2025, new members joining the programme using promo code KF10M will receive a 1,000-mile welcome bonus.

Be sure to enter the promo code in the relevant field at the end of the registration form to be eligible.

As we reported earlier this week, a special Spontaneous Escapes promotion will be running for travel between 1st April 2025 and 30th April 2025, with “additional discounts” on award seats promised.

The regular monthly Spontaneous Escapes deal offers 30% off awards, so this time round we’re hoping to see a 40% or perhaps even 50% discount offered.

The redemption window for this deal will be 14th March 2025 to 31st March 2025 – the same as usual – but KrisFlyer is expected to announce the discount and potentially the full route list later today, at 4pm Singapore Time, so watch out for that.

For selected non-flight redemptions between 7th March 2025 and 31st March 2025, KrisFlyer members can benefit from the following discounts.

  • 30% off redemptions site-wide on KrisShop

This increases the value of your miles when used to offset purchases or fully pay for items from the usual year-round rate of 0.8 cents per mile to 1.14 cents per mile.

A similar deal was running in September 2024.

  • 30% off redemptions site-wide on Pelago

Pelago usually offers S$1 off your experience bookings per 150 KrisFlyer miles redeemed year-round (0.67 cents per mile value), but with a 30% redemption discount only 105 KrisFlyer miles will get you S$1 off an experience booking – which is 0.95 cents per mile.

Again, a similar deal was running in September 2024.

  • 30% bonus when transferring miles to Kris+

Generally speaking, you shouldn’t be transferring your KrisFlyer miles to Kris+, which comes with a year-round value of 0.67 cents against future purchases at Kris+ merchants.

During this 30% transfer bonus promotion, the value per mile increases but only marginally – to 0.89 cents – still a poor redemption option. As with the KrisShop and Pelago options above, a similar deal was offered in September last year.

Remember that while KrisFlyer miles to Kris+ transfers are instant, they are also strictly one-way. There is no going back once you’ve made a transfer, and KrisPay miles are then valid for only six months – so you have to burn through them fairly quickly.

KrisFlyer is also boosting conversion rates between miles and partner loyalty programs between 7th March 2025 and 31st March 2025.

You’ll get a 20% bonus on conversions with the following partners:

  • CapitaStar (Singapore) – KrisFlyer miles to STAR$ and vice versa.
  • Esso Singapore – KrisFlyer miles to Esso Smiles points and vice versa.
  • Accor – KrisFlyer miles to ALL Reward points and vice versa.
  • Marriott Bonvoy – KrisFlyer miles to Bonvoy points.
  • Velocity Frequent Flyer – KrisFlyer miles to Velocity Points, only for members based in Australia and New Zealand.

These discounted transfer and enhanced conversion rate promotions are only likely to be of any interest if you have expiring KrisFlyer miles that you won’t otherwise be using to redeem award flights.

One exception is Esso Smiles points to KrisFlyer, which is a deal we do actually recommend with a 20% bonus in play, since you should get better value from them in the KrisFlyer programme.

Here’s how the various promotions, highlighted in the table, affect the value per mile for redemption options during this period.

* Or the miles quantity you have expiring in a single calendar month, if greater
Where necessary in this table, a miles redemption value for a Singapore Airlines flight is assumed at 1.9 cents. You may have to adjust the value per mile for some of these options, if your own valuation is different.

Even if you don’t have a trip coming up soon, remember you can use expiring miles to lock in a flight redemption up to a year in advance – so you shouldn’t need to cash out expiring miles via one of these options.

KrisFlyer will also be running a social media giveaway from 7th March 2025 to 31st March 2025, allowing you the chance to win up to 38,000 KrisFlyer miles by participating in contests on Facebook and Instagram, by commenting on selected posts with “creative answers”.

This 10 million members milestone for the KrisFlyer programme comes as Singapore Airlines has been on a clear drive to increase membership numbers over recent years.

Even at the most recently announced tally for March 2024, 8.8 million customers worldwide were signed up to the programme, and that was more than double the number enrolled five years previously.

  • 31 March 2017: 3.1 million
  • 31 March 2018: 3.5 million
  • 31 March 2019: 4 million
  • 31 March 2020: 4.6 million
  • 31 March 2021: 4.76 million
  • 31 March 2022: 5.19 million
  • 31 March 2023: 6.7 million
  • 31 March 2024: 8.8 million
  • March 2025: 10+ million

The latest 10 million total is all the more impressive when you consider that Singapore’s resident population is only around 5.9 million!

Summary

KrisFlyer is offering a variety of additional value for members as part of its 10 million member celebration, not least a 20% discounted award redemption deal for travel between May and November in Economy Class network-wide, and in Premium Economy on selected routes to and from the USA.

There’s also the promise of a special Spontaneous Escapes deal for travel in April, with a higher than usual discount in store that we should see revealed later today, though the actual booking window will still fall within the standard 14th March – 31st March period.

There are also some discounted non-flight redemption options and partner conversion bonuses this month, though most of these will only likely be of interest if you have expiring miles, and no travel plans coming up.
