Back in April this year, Singapore Airlines revealed that it would be launching an upsized Spontaneous Escapes flash sale this month in celebration of SG60, which led us to speculate that the carrier might be set to offer 60% off Saver award rates during this limited booking window.
Well the offer has launched and it’s significantly less generous than we had hoped, with just a 40% discount on offer (i.e. pay 60% of the usual Saver rate).
For 60 hours only, enjoy an upsized 40% off Singapore Airlines Saver award tickets to selected destinations. Redeem your flights for travel between 1-30 September 2025.
Singapore Airlines
That’s actually pretty stingy compared to the hype.
The airline has offered 40% off as its Spontaneous Escapes discount for the whole regular two-week promotion as recently as April 2025, in celebration of hitting 10 million KrisFlyer members. Previously, we’ve seen 51% off award tickets for a two-month period in early 2020, and discounts of 45% to 61% in early 2019.
Alas, it is what it is and any discount higher than the usual 30% off is to be welcomed.

Some of the best deals worth considering this month include:
- Frankfurt for 25,200 miles in Economy Class
- San Francisco for 25,200 miles in Economy Class
- Perth for 24,300 miles in Business Class or 12,900 miles in Economy Class
- Hong Kong for 20,400 miles in Business Class or 9,900 miles in Economy Class
- Bangkok for 14,400 miles in Business Class or 8,100 miles in Economy Class
- Bali or Jakarta for 12,600 miles in Business Class or 5,100 miles in Economy Class
- Taipei for 9,900 miles in Economy Class
As usual, some routes this month are affected by a range of blackout dates, which are clearly shown in our detailed tables below.
If you do find a route of interest, you’ll need to book these ‘Promo’ awards at 40% off over the next 60 hours – between 15th August 2025 12:00 SGT and 17th August 2025 23:59 SGT – for travel in September 2025, but remember there’s no flexibility and in most cases no refunds are allowed.
Award discounts will revert to the usual Spontaneous Escapes 30% off rate for bookings made from 18th August 2025 00:00 SGT to 31st August 2025 23:59 SGT.
Terms and conditions
Here are the terms and conditions for the Spontaneous Escapes promotion.

- Redeem online at singaporeair.com or via the SingaporeAir mobile app between 15th August 2025, 12:00 SGT and 17th August 2025 23:59 SGT.
- Discount reverts to 30% for bookings made between 18th August 2025 00:00 SGT to 31st August 23:59 SGT.
- Flights are non-refundable and non-changeable.
- Blackout dates apply on some routes (see the full list below for details).
- Book one-way legs if the discount only applies on one of the two (or more) flights you need. You cannot book one-way Promo (Spontaneous Escapes) and one-way Saver / Advantage awards in the same booking.
- Travel must be completed by 30th September 2025.
- Book as many redemptions as you like at Spontaneous Escapes rates – it’s not capped.
- You cannot waitlist for Promo (Spontaneous Escapes) redemptions.
- For any flights cancelled by SIA, or if a flight was removed from a Spontaneous Escapes booking due to COVID-19 and governmental regulatory changes, the miles redeemed in the unused portion of the ticket will be refunded, with no additional fees charged.
- Requests to change any booking details, or to retain the ticket for future use, will not be granted.
In a nutshell – be sure to have firm travel plans if you’re locking in a Spontaneous Escapes deal.

Book the ‘Promo’ award category
Singapore Airlines offers the Spontaneous Escapes deals under its “Promo” award category, which you’ll see alongside the usual Saver and Advantage award rates on applicable flights.

If the Promo award rate is not shown for your preferred flight, even though it is listed as part of the offer, that unfortunately means there is no availability remaining at the Spontaneous Escapes rate (but do check back later, like Saver and Advantage award space – it can come and go).
The “Promo” award category also means Spontaneous Escapes award capacity can be loaded as a subset of the Saver award space. This allows you to continue to book at Saver rates (if you prefer the flexibility, for example), or allows the airline to stop offering Spontaneous Escapes rates on a particular flight, while not necessarily having to remove the Saver rate at the same time, like they did under the pre-pandemic system.
This also opens up the possibility of securing discounted bookings for larger groups.
For example, if three of you are travelling but only two Promo (Spontaneous Escapes) award seats are available for your desired flight, you can potentially redeem the two available Promo seats and then one Saver seat on a separate booking.
This way, you can still effectively enjoy a 27% overall mileage discount across your group, compared to booking three Saver awards.
What if you already booked?
If you have already redeemed your miles on a flight that has now become eligible for the Spontaneous Escapes offer, unfortunately there’s no simple way to change it and pay the reduced miles rate.
You will have to book again at the Spontaneous Escapes rate, then cancel the existing booking and pay the miles redeposit fee (don’t do it the other way round, in case the Spontaneous Escapes Promo space disappears in the meantime!).
This will require you to have sufficient miles in your account to immediately lock in the Spontaneous Escapes rate.
If you need the miles from the original booking in order to make the Spontaneous Escapes one due to an insufficient balance, be very careful!
Since you will first have to cancel the original booking, you are now at the mercy of the Spontaneous Escapes space remaining available on the flight, and it can sometimes take a few days for the miles from your original cancelled booking to be re-credited to your account.
Full details
For full details of this month’s Spontaneous Escapes offer, including terms and conditions (but sadly not including the aircraft type and seat type details we have provided above!), head over to the KrisFlyer Spontaneous Escapes promo page.
Summary
Singapore Airlines has launched its SG60 Spontaneous Escapes flash deal, with 40% off saver award rates rather than the usual 30%, but only for those who book over the next 60 hours for travel in September 2025.
This isn’t as exciting as we’d hoped – after all the full regular two-week Spontaneous Escapes promo was available with 40% off only a few months ago, making this one seem like a lousy deal with only 60 hours to redeem at this “special” rate.
From 18th August to 31st August, the discount on these flights will revert to the usual 30% off for those locking in bookings after the flash deal has ended, so it’s definitely best to try and book this weekend if possible for the additional saving.
Do check out the full deal here, and remember to refer to our seat types summary for Business Class in the tables above to pick the aircraft with the best cabin product for your routing.
If you’re unable to secure a return flight at the discounted rates, book two one-way tickets instead. You’ll pay the ‘Promo’ rate one-way and the usual ‘Saver’ rate for the non-discounted sector, but at least the whole itinerary will not be at the usual rate (and a 20% saving is still welcome).
