Deals KrisFlyer Singapore Airlines Spontaneous Escapes

Flash sale over: KrisFlyer Spontaneous Escapes continues with 30% off September 2025 awards

SG70 begins early? Pay 70% of the usual Saver award rate for the rest of the month for travel on selected Singapore Airlines flights in September 2025.

Back in April 2025, Singapore Airlines promoted an upsized Spontaneous Escapes deal for September 2025 in celebration of SG60, raising hopes of a 60% discount on Saver awards to and from selected cities on the network. The actual launch fell well short of that: only 40% off was offered (i.e. pay 60% of the usual Saver rate).

That’s similar to a discount offered as recently as five months ago, celebrating 10 million KrisFlyer members – a promotion that ran for two weeks (421 hours to be exact), far more generous than this month’s lousy 60-hour flash sale. Compared with past offers – 51% off in early 2020 and up to 61% off in 2019 – it felt underwhelming at best.

Well after just 60 hours, the deal has now reverted to the standard monthly 30% discount. After all the early hype, it’s fair to ask: if 60% off was to celebrate SG60, what are we celebrating for the rest of the month – SG70?!

Here’s how the deal now looks for those locking in Spontaneous Escapes awards for the rest of the month, for travel in September 2025.

Terms and conditions

Here are the terms and conditions for the Spontaneous Escapes promotion.

September 2025 offer

  • A 30% discount on saver award redemptions for travel to and/or from selected destinations in September 2025.
  • Redeem online at singaporeair.com or via the SingaporeAir mobile app between 18th August 2025, 00:00 SGT and 31st August 2025 23:59 SGT.
  • Flights are non-refundable and non-changeable.
  • Blackout dates apply on some routes (see the full list below for details).
  • Book one-way legs if the discount only applies on one of the two (or more) flights you need. You cannot book one-way Promo (Spontaneous Escapes) and one-way Saver / Advantage awards in the same booking.
  • Travel must be completed by 30th September 2025.
  • Book as many redemptions as you like at Spontaneous Escapes rates – it’s not capped.
  • You cannot waitlist for Promo (Spontaneous Escapes) redemptions.
  • For any flights cancelled by SIA, or if a flight was removed from a Spontaneous Escapes booking due to COVID-19 and governmental regulatory changes, the miles redeemed in the unused portion of the ticket will be refunded, with no additional fees charged.
  • Requests to change any booking details, or to retain the ticket for future use, will not be granted.

In a nutshell – be sure to have firm travel plans if you’re locking in a Spontaneous Escapes deal.

Book the ‘Promo’ award category

Singapore Airlines offers the Spontaneous Escapes deals under its “Promo” award category, which you’ll see alongside the usual Saver and Advantage award rates on applicable flights.

If the Promo award rate is not shown for your preferred flight, even though it is listed as part of the offer, that unfortunately means there is no availability remaining at the Spontaneous Escapes rate (but do check back later, like Saver and Advantage award space – it can come and go).

The “Promo” award category also means Spontaneous Escapes award capacity can be loaded as a subset of the Saver award space. This allows you to continue to book at Saver rates (if you prefer the flexibility, for example), or allows the airline to stop offering Spontaneous Escapes rates on a particular flight, while not necessarily having to remove the Saver rate at the same time, like they did under the pre-pandemic system.

This also opens up the possibility of securing discounted bookings for larger groups.

For example, if three of you are travelling but only two Promo (Spontaneous Escapes) award seats are available for your desired flight, you can potentially redeem the two available Promo seats and then one Saver seat on a separate booking.

This way, you can still effectively enjoy a 20% overall mileage discount across your group, compared to booking three Saver awards.

What if you already booked?

If you have already redeemed your miles on a flight that has now become eligible for the Spontaneous Escapes offer, unfortunately there’s no simple way to change it and pay the reduced miles rate.

You will have to book again at the Spontaneous Escapes rate, then cancel the existing booking and pay the miles redeposit fee (don’t do it the other way round, in case the Spontaneous Escapes Promo space disappears in the meantime!).

This will require you to have sufficient miles in your account to immediately lock in the Spontaneous Escapes rate.

If you need the miles from the original booking in order to make the Spontaneous Escapes one due to an insufficient balance, be very careful!

Since you will first have to cancel the original booking, you are now at the mercy of the Spontaneous Escapes space remaining available on the flight, and it can sometimes take a few days for the miles from your original cancelled booking to be re-credited to your account.

Full details

For full details of this month’s Spontaneous Escapes offer, including terms and conditions (but sadly not including the aircraft type and seat type details we have provided above!), head over to the KrisFlyer Spontaneous Escapes promo page.

Summary

After all the hype around SG60 celebrations, the 40% flash sale that lasted just 60 hours was a disappointing anticlimax – and now we’re left with the standard 30% discount for the rest of the month.

Still, the remaining Spontaneous Escapes promotion offers reasonable value for September 2025 travel, even if it falls well short of the generous discounts we’ve seen in previous years. With awards available across all cabin classes and no cap on the number of redemptions, there are still some decent opportunities to save miles on your next getaway.

The promotion runs until 31st August 2025, giving you almost two weeks to lock in your September travel plans. Just remember that these awards are non-refundable and non-changeable, so ensure your travel dates are firm before booking.

Do check out the full deal here, and remember to refer to our seat types summary for Business Class in the tables above to pick the aircraft with the best cabin product for your routing.

If you’re unable to secure a return flight at the discounted rates, book two one-way tickets instead. You’ll pay the ‘Promo’ rate one-way and the usual ‘Saver’ rate for the non-discounted sector, but at least the whole itinerary will not be at the usual rate (and a 15% saving is still welcome).
