One of the consequences of the ongoing Iran conflict has been significantly reduced flight schedules for the Middle East carriers, and their regular services to and from Singapore Changi Airport are no exception.
This week for example, Emirates’ usual 35 weekly departures from Changi are whittled down to just seven, while Qatar Airways’ services have reduced from the usual 21 weekly departures to 11.
While some days still see two Qatar Airways departures, these are either at 7.40pm or in the early hours after midnight, with the usual morning departure at 10.20am being the ‘fall guy’ during the disruption.
That has an unfortunate knock-on effect for the carrier’s excellent Singapore Premium Lounge opening hours.
Morning opening window axed
Only six weeks ago we reported the good news that Qatar Airways had extended its Singapore lounge opening hours to 7.15am – 10.15am and 4.15pm – 3.15am daily, the longest operating hours we had ever seen for this facility.
That good news has proven short-lived.
With no morning departure to support, the lounge has temporarily switched to a single daily operating window.

| Temporary | |
| Morning | None |
| Afternoon / Evening | 5pm – 2am (Daily) |
That’s a single nine-hour evening and late-night period, down from the previous 14 hours of combined daily opening across two sessions, and completely axing the popular breakfast service.
For those who liked to use the lounge ahead of a Oneworld departure in Business Class during the morning window, including passengers on suitably timed Malaysia Airlines, Cathay Pacific, JAL or SriLankan Airlines flights, that option is unfortunately now off the table for the foreseeable future.
We have a comprehensive review of the Qatar Airways Singapore Premium lounge linked below, including our experience of both the morning and evening meal service.
When will things get back to normal?
Qatar Airways is provisionally loading its morning departure from Changi again, along with a return to three daily services, from 16th June 2026.
That’s at least two months from now.
Whether that can happen earlier, or may even be pushed back further, depends entirely on how the geopolitical situation in the Middle East plays out. For now, don’t bank on this morning opening making a comeback any time soon, in our opinion.
A380 grounded too
Qatar Airways had been using the Airbus A380 on one of its daily Singapore flights since January 2026, bringing First Class to the route for the first time but at the cost of losing the Qsuite on that particular service.
That’s now a moot point. Qatar Airways has temporarily grounded its entire A380 fleet owing to the Iran conflict’s impact on operations, with some aircraft even stored at Teruel in Spain. The superjumbos are not expected back in service with the airline until mid-June 2026 at the earliest.

Silver lining: back to all-Qsuite operation
With the A380 out of the picture, all remaining Qatar Airways flights to and from Singapore over the coming weeks are programmed to use the Airbus A350-900 with Qsuite installed.
That means the carrier is once again deploying its most sought-after Business Class cabin exclusively on the route during this period, something Qsuite fans had lost on a third of daily flights when the A380 arrived earlier this year.

As always, the usual caveat applies: Qsuite is never technically guaranteed due to the possibility of last-minute operational aircraft swaps, though Qatar Airways does prioritise its Qsuite-equipped A350-900s on specific routes including Singapore, with a historically strong strike rate of 95% or better.
Alternative Oneworld lounges at Changi T1
If you’re flying Oneworld Business Class from Singapore and were counting on the Qatar Airways Premium Lounge, there are two alternative options in Terminal 1, though neither offers the à la carte dining standards of the Qatar facility.
- Qantas International Business Lounge: this lounge does have a morning opening from 7.50am to 10.15am on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays, in addition to its regular daily hours of 2.00pm to 12.15am. That morning window makes it a reasonable fallback to the Qatar lounge on those three days of the week.
- British Airways Singapore Lounge: unfortunately this lounge only opens in the afternoons, from 3.00pm to midnight daily, so it won’t help with morning departures at all.

For those departing on a Oneworld flight during the morning on a Monday, Wednesday, Thursday or Saturday, neither the Qantas nor British Airways lounges will be open, which means the rather underwhelming third-party Marhaba or SATS Premier Lounges in T1 are your only airside option, unless the Qatar lounge’s temporary hours revert sooner than expected.
It’s possible to trek over to Changi’s Terminal 4 via bus and experience the Cathay Pacific lounge – open from 4.20am each day – but it’s a big diversion unless you’re committed to a multi-hour ‘lounge safari’.
Summary
The Qatar Airways Singapore Premium Lounge is temporarily operating only from 5pm to 2am daily, with the morning breakfast window suspended due to the carrier’s reduced Singapore flight schedule amid the Iran conflict.
Qatar Airways is provisionally targeting a return to three daily services from 16th June 2026, but this remains subject to change, so don’t expect any quick improvement here.
On the bright side, all current Singapore flights feature the Qsuite-equipped Airbus A350-900 in Business Class once again.
If you need a morning lounge before a Oneworld Business Class departure, the Qantas International Business Lounge is the main T1 option from 7.50am on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays. Otherwise, a trek to T4 for the Cathay lounge or some disappointing third-party options await.
