KrisFlyer Spontaneous Escapes for May 2026 – now including Scoot

Redeem Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer Spontaneous Escapes deals for travel in May 2026, with 15-30% off Saver award rates - now including Scoot flights for the first time.

KrisFlyer has launched its monthly Spontaneous Escapes promotion for May 2026, offering discounts of 30% on Singapore Airlines Economy, Premium Economy, and Business Class award bookings to and from a selection of destinations across its network.

This month there’s a surprise in store, with selected Scoot flights also part of the deal with 15% off saver rates, adding to the options for redeeming flights with KrisFlyer miles at a decent discount.

As usual, to take advantage of the 30% savings (15% for Scoot) you’ll need to secure your tickets within the next two weeks, though the sooner the better is a good plan, since award seats at these discounted rates are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

If any of the destinations on this month’s list catch your eye and you’re able to make firm travel plans for next month, it’s definitely worth seizing the opportunity to book one of these seats at the discounted rate.

Singapore Airlines Awards start at 5,600 miles, for one-way Economy Class redemptions between the likes of Singapore and Kuala Lumpur or Bali.

Scoot awards are even cheaper – starting at just 1,275 miles one-way in Economy on Singapore – Malaysia routes.

With the ongoing geopolitical situation there are no Europe or USA discounted award options this month, plus nothing to the more popular Australian cities. That isn’t too surprising given that the Middle East carriers are operating at a fraction of their normal capacity and many travellers will be avoiding the region.

Some routes are affected by a range of blackout dates, or are only available in one direction at the discounted rate, which we clearly show in our detailed tables below.

If you do find a route of interest, you’ll need to book these ‘Promo’ awards over the next two weeks – between 15th April 2026 and 30th April 2026 – for travel in May 2026, but remember there’s no flexibility and in most cases no refunds are allowed.

Terms and conditions

Here are the terms and conditions for the Spontaneous Escapes promotion.

May 2026 offer

  • A 30% discount on saver award redemptions for travel to and/or from selected destinations in May 2026 (15% for Scoot flights).
  • Redeem online at singaporeair.com or via the SingaporeAir mobile app between 15th April 2026 and 30th April 2026.
  • Travel must be completed by 31st May 2026.
  • Flights are non-refundable and non-changeable.
  • Blackout dates apply on some routes (see the full list below for details).
  • Book one-way legs if the discount only applies on one of the two (or more) flights you need. You cannot book one-way Promo (Spontaneous Escapes) and one-way Saver / Advantage awards in the same booking.
  • Book as many redemptions as you like at Spontaneous Escapes rates – it’s not capped.
  • You cannot waitlist for Promo (Spontaneous Escapes) redemptions.
  • Requests to change any booking details, or to retain the ticket for future use, will not be granted.

In a nutshell – be sure to have firm travel plans if you’re locking in a Spontaneous Escapes deal.

Scoot Deals

For the first time, the Spontaneous Escapes deal now includes Scoot flights, a possibility we flagged back in August 2025 when the carrier adopted a fixed-price award chart for KrisFlyer redemptions.

You can now redeem Spontaneous Escapes deals on selected Scoot flights.
(Photo: Gold Coast Airport)

Here are the discounts on offer for travel in Scoot Economy for travel in May 2026.

Scoot awards using KrisFlyer miles are always non-refundable year-round, so there is no loss of flexibility when booking a Spontaneous Escapes award on these flights for May 2026, since you always need to be committed to these ‘use it or lose it’ redemptions on the low-cost carrier anyway.

Book the ‘Promo’ award category

Singapore Airlines offers the Spontaneous Escapes deals under its “Promo” award category, which you’ll see alongside the usual Saver, Advantage and Access award rates on applicable flights.

If the Promo award rate is not shown for your preferred flight, even though it is listed as part of the offer, that unfortunately means there is no availability remaining at the Spontaneous Escapes rate (but do check back later, like Saver and Advantage award space – it can come and go).

The “Promo” award category also means Spontaneous Escapes award capacity can be loaded as a subset of the Saver award space. This allows you to continue to book at Saver rates (if you prefer the flexibility, for example), or allows the airline to stop offering Spontaneous Escapes rates on a particular flight, while not necessarily having to remove the Saver rate at the same time, like they did under the previous system.

This also opens up the possibility of securing discounted bookings for larger groups.

For example, if three of you are traveling but only two Promo (Spontaneous Escapes) award seats are available for your desired flight, you can potentially redeem the two available Promo seats and then one Saver seat on a separate booking.

This way, you can still effectively enjoy a 20% overall mileage discount across your group, compared to booking three regular-rate Saver awards.

For Scoot flights, the 15% discount will appear in place of regular saver rates for flights that still have Spontaneous Escapes inventory, as shown below.

What if you already booked?

If you have already redeemed your miles on a Singapore Airlines flight that has now become eligible for the Spontaneous Escapes offer, unfortunately there’s no simple way to change it and pay the reduced miles rate.

You will have to book again at the Spontaneous Escapes rate, then cancel the existing booking and pay the miles redeposit fee (don’t do it the other way round, in case the Spontaneous Escapes Promo space disappears in the meantime!).

This will require you to have sufficient miles in your account to immediately lock in the Spontaneous Escapes rate.

If you need the miles from the original booking in order to make the Spontaneous Escapes one due to an insufficient balance, be very careful!

Since you will first have to cancel the original booking, you are now at the mercy of the Spontaneous Escapes space remaining available on the flight, and it can sometimes take a few days for the miles from your original cancelled booking to be re-credited to your account.

For existing Scoot bookings at normal award rates, since these are non-refundable unfortunately you are now stuck with your full-priced award, even if it is now included in the Spontaneous Escapes deal.

Full details

For full details of this month’s Spontaneous Escapes offer, including terms and conditions (but sadly not including the aircraft type and seat type details we have provided above!), head over to the KrisFlyer Spontaneous Escapes promo page.

Summary

KrisFlyer’s regular monthly Spontaneous Escapes deal is back for travel in May 2026, for those who can make short-term travel plans.

This month selected Scoot flights also join the deal, with 15% off instead of the usual 30% rate still applicable to SIA awards, which means the ability to secure award tickets from just 1,275 miles one-way.

Check out the full SIA deal here and the full Scoot deal here, and do refer to our seat types summary for Business Class in the tables above to pick the aircraft with the best cabin product for your routing.

Remember if you’re unable to secure a return flight at the discounted rates, book two one-way tickets instead. You’ll pay the ‘Promo’ rate one-way and the usual ‘Saver’ rate for the non-discounted sector, but at least the whole itinerary will not be at the usual rate (and a 15% saving, or 7.5% for Scoot flights, is still welcome).

  1. Slim pickings from the mainline. I guess all European routes are very busy now – and will be for a while.
The Scoot spontaneous escapes have quite a low redemption value. I guess it’s in line with SQ economy. Only abt 2c tops (from what i found)
