Credit card payment provider ipaymy has a new offer for November 2020, with a month-long 11.11 deal giving you S$11.11 off the transaction fee for any payment made through the platform. There’s no minimum spend, so for smaller one-time transactions up to around S$500, you won’t pay any fee at all, allowing you to generate ‘free’ miles.
Even for larger payments, the discount can ‘dilute’ the effective fee to a very competitive level. For example, you’re paying just 1.1% fee for a S$1,000 rental payment, tax bill or one-off invoice, allowing you to ‘buy’ miles from just 0.71 cents each in that case with a 1.6 mpd earn card, or 0.95 cents each with a more generic 1.2 mpd card.
That makes ipaymy one of the cheapest ways to generate miles from a single payment of any type this month.
ipaymy’s usual fee for payments using your Singapore issued Visa or Mastercard for an invoice, rental or tax payment is 2.25%.
Schedule a payment anytime this month and apply promo code NOV11, using a Singapore-issued Visa or Mastercard, to be eligible for up to S$11.11 off the fee on any one-time transaction. Note that this does not apply to recurring payments.
You’ll actually save the entire transaction fee under this offer, until the fee itself reaches S$11.11, at which point the discount becomes capped. This happens at a ‘sweet spot’ transaction total of S$493.78.
Once your payment is higher than that, you’ll pay the usual 2.25% transaction fee, discounted by S$11.11, like in the following example for a S$1,000 bill.
Note that the charge date for your transaction must be on or before 30th November 2020 to be eligible.
Cost per mile
Here’s how the cost per mile looks for a variety of transactions using the Citi PremierMiles card at 1.2 mpd for an ipaymy transaction in November 2020 using the NOV11 promo code.
This card usually allows you to ‘buy’ miles at 1.88 cents each through ipaymy with a 2.25% fee.

For payments up to S$1,000 and even S$2,000, these are all very competitive rates to buy miles. We value KrisFlyer miles at 1.9 cents each (our upper limit to buy), and actually achieve around 2.4 cents per mile when we redeem, based on well over 1 million miles burned over recent years, assuming current redemption rates.
Even cheaper purchase rates can be achieved with cards earning more than 1.2 mpd for local spend, including the UOB PRVI Miles (1.4 mpd) and Citi ULTIMA (1.6 mpd).Pro Tip: For payments of up to around S$5,500 with Citi credit cards, using the NOV11 promo code with ipaymy comes in cheaper than using Citi PayAll at a 2% fee.
1.79% on rental payments is still available
You may recall earlier this year ipaymy launched a 1.79% fee promotion for recurring rental payments of six months or more, with a Singapore-issued Visa or Mastercard.
That ‘while it lasts’ offer has changed to ‘Ending Soon’, so it may be worth jumping on while you still can.
Even if your tenancy agreement is for less than six months, ipaymy will still honour the promotional rate provided you contact their support team via firstname.lastname@example.org with proof of your tenancy agreement, so you can still benefit.
An excellent deal for miles earners in Singapore from ipaymy this month, with the chance to make any one-time payment with a Visa or Mastercard and pay as little as zero transaction fee, with a discount of S$11.11.
You can use ipaymy to settle all sorts of invoice types including tuition fees, tax payments, home improvement works and even air conditioning service bills.
If you have a payment coming up this month where you’d otherwise be missing out on miles earning, consider using this code to buy miles at an attractive rate, or basically for nothing if your payment is up to S$500.
