New KrisFlyer partner – earn up to 3,000 miles per booking with Dream Cruises

KrisFlyer members booking Dream Cruises can now accrue miles, score a complimentary cabin upgrade, and enjoy free Wi-Fi throughout their 'seacation'.

Singapore Airlines has launched a new KrisFlyer miles earning partnership with Dream Cruises, allowing members to earn 1,000 to 3,000 miles with each eligible direct booking on ‘seacations’ and hopefully in the not too distant future cruises that actually take you somewhere too.

“Dream Cruises is delighted to be part of this first-of-its-kind strategic partnership with KrisFlyer, a worldwide icon and internationally renowned corporate brand.

“Our collaboration with KrisFlyer will create greater diverse product offerings for its close to 5 million KrisFlyer members worldwide and we are confident this strategic partnership will also help to revitalize the tourism industry and continue to promote Singapore as a global FlyCruise hub.”

Michael Goh, President, Dream Cruises

Miles earning

You’ll earn KrisFlyer miles for eligible Dream Cruises bookings made from 4th October 2021 via www.dreamcruiseline.com, through the call centre at 6808 2288 or via the Dream Cruises Singapore Sales Counter at 3 Lim Teck Kim Road #01-05 Singapore 088934.

You’ll earn:

  • 3,000 KrisFlyer miles per eligible sailing in a Palace Suite
  • 1,000 KrisFlyer miles per eligible sailing in a Balcony Stateroom

Note that miles earning is eligible for sailings departing from Singapore (Super Seacation sailings only). Future sailings to other port of calls outside Singapore may be included at a later date.

KrisFlyer miles will be credited to your account six to eight weeks after completing your cruise.

Upgrades and free Wi-Fi

KrisFlyer members will also be entitled to a complimentary upgrade to a Balcony Deluxe cabin and complimentary Standard Wi-Fi for up to two devices, for every Balcony Stateroom booking made directly with Dream Cruises.

For Balcony Stateroom bookings, cabin upgrade is subject to availability at the point of request via email, call-in or walk-in, when providing your KrisFlyer membership details (see below).

If you select a higher Wi-Fi package on board (than ‘Standard’), you’ll need to top up the difference.

How to earn

Here’s how to ensure your miles will be credited for eligible Dream Cruises bookings:

For bookings made on the website, email sg.corporate@gentingcruiselines.com and include your Dream Cruises reservation number, KrisFlyer name and membership number, at least 48 hours prior to the sailing.

For phone or walk-in bookings, inform Dream Cruises staff of your KrisFlyer membership number to earn miles and receive the KrisFlyer Benefits.

The name on your passport must match your KrisFlyer account in order to earn miles, and only the passenger who made the cruise booking is eligible, regardless of cabin occupancy.

KrisFlyer miles cannot be earned from bookings made via authorised Travel Agents, Online Travel Agency and e-Commerce platforms.

Full terms and conditions for miles earning with Dream Cruises bookings are available here.

Which card to use

Dream Cruises transactions fall under one of the following Merchant Category Codes when processing credit card payments:

MCC 4411: Cruise Lines
MCC 4722: Travel Agencies and Tour Operators

Dream Cruises bookings made via the website should also classify as online transactions, giving you the following options to earn up to an additional 4 mpd through your credit card points for these transactions.

Card Earn
Rate
Notes
DBS WWMC
(see our review)
4 mpd For online spend, capped at S$2,000 per calendar month.
HSBC Revo Card SmallHSBC Revolution
(see our review)
4 mpd For online spend at cruise lines (MCC 4411 / 4722), capped at S$1,000 per calendar month combined with other 4 mpd bonus spend.

Citi Lazada
2 mpd For travel transactions under MCC 4411 / 4722, capped at S$1,800 spend per statement cycle but combined with other 4 mpd / 2 mpd bonus spend (i.e. S$1,800 cap assumes your only bonus category spend in a statement cycle is Travel).

Don’t use your Citi Rewards card for Dream Cruises bookings, as MCC 4411 / 4722 falls under the travel category, specifically excluded from earning the 4 mpd rate for online spend with that card.

It will therefore only earn 0.4 mpd, so it’s probably much better in that case to use your best general spend card, assuming you don’t have one of the above options or have already hit your monthly bonus cap.

Dream Cruises and SIA

This isn’t the first time Dream Cruises has worked with Singapore Airlines.

As we recently reported, SIA is chartering an entire ‘cruise to nowhere’ on Dream Cruises’ World Dream in November, including the airline’s signature satay, amenity kits, and a Christmas market.

Tickets were exclusively available for miles redemption through the KrisFlyer Experiences platform, though the sailing now shows as ‘fully redeemed’.

If you missed out there’s always a chance it may be repeated, given the strong take-up and this new “strategic collaboration” between World Dream and Singapore Airlines.

Summary

With limited overseas travel options, a ‘cruise to nowhere’ or ‘seacation’ has become a popular option for many Singapore residents, so it’s good to see that there’s now an option to earn a nice stash of KrisFlyer miles with your Dream Cruises booking.

These are awarded on top of up to 4 mpd earned through your credit card, for a potentially decent total return.

KrisFlyer members will also be entitled to a space available upgrade to a Balcony Deluxe cabin, plus free Wi-Fi for two devices, when booking a Balcony Stateroom.

Remember you’ll have to book directly with Dream Cruises to benefit, and provide your KrisFlyer membership details within 48 hours of your sailing.
