Changi Airport Jetstar News Travel VTL

Jetstar loads its Singapore VTL flights to 29 October 2022

All three Singapore-based carriers have now revealed their VTL flight schedules for the upcoming summer season, with Jetstar adding its quarantine-free options on five routes including Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur and Melbourne.

Back in mid-December last year Singapore Airlines and Scoot added their quarantine-free flight schedules through to late October 2022, with several other carriers also confirming their plans over the last few weeks, and now it’s Jetstar’s turn to reveal its designated VTL services for the upcoming season.

The Qantas Group low-cost carriers, actually operating as Jetstar (Australia) and Singapore-based Jetstar Asia, will together maintain six VTL routes during the upcoming IATA northern summer season from 27th March to 29th October 2022:

  • Bangkok to Singapore: 5/week
  • Darwin to Singapore: 2/week
  • Kuala Lumpur to Singapore: 7/week
  • Melbourne to Singapore: 6/week
  • Phnom Penh to Singapore: 4/week
  • Singapore to Kuala Lumpur: 7/week

Overall this represents a total of over 950 VTL flights during the seven-month period.

How Jetstar shows VTL flights

Like Singapore Airlines, Scoot and several other airlines, Jetstar marks its designated VTL flights through the search results on its website.

Jetstar highlights its designated VTL flights with a yellow note

Note that on some routes, like Kuala Lumpur, Jetstar is operating non-VTL flights alongside VTL ones, so be sure to select only the marked services to travel quarantine-free under the programme.

Bangkok to Singapore

Jetstar had originally planned to fly from Bangkok to Singapore under VTL rules five times a week when it first launched quarantine-free services on the route, however not all flights transpired and until mid-February the airline operates three times per week.

What about Perth?

Jetstar originally planned to restart its flights between Perth and Singapore on 12th February 2022, shortly after Western Australia was due to reopen its borders to international arrivals.

With the previously “set in stone” plan now firmly on the back burner, the airline has provisionally pushed its Perth relaunch back to 29th March 2022, though flights are not currently marked as designated VTL services in the Perth – Singapore direction.

We should have more news about the state’s latest plans to either remain isolated or come to its senses, later this month.

Full list of designated VTL flights to Singapore

In total there are over 20 airlines operating VTL flights to Singapore on over 40 routes, so make sure you bookmark our continually updated page of all the options, an essential reference when planning your next trip.

Summary

Singapore’s smallest airline Jetstar Asia will maintain its limited network of three regional VTL cities and remain the sole operator between Darwin and Changi, while parent airline Jetstar Australia will also continue its quarantine-free Melbourne – Singapore link through to late October 2022.

Like many of us, Jetstar will be hoping its Phuket – Singapore flights get VTL status soon. (Photo: Sudpoth Sirirattanasakul / Shutterstock)

These flights provide additional options to a wide range of Singapore Airlines and Scoot VTL services, but don’t forget over 20 carriers in total are operating these flights on a variety of routes, including direct options you may not have thought of, like Fiji and Helsinki.

Indeed around 40% of VTL flights into Singapore are not operated by Singapore Airlines, quite contrary to the assumption of many Lion City residents, so make sure you’re travelling smarter and more flexibly on your next trip by referring to our full list of quarantine-free flight options before booking.
