Earn 1,500 KrisFlyer miles when you refer household members to the OCBC 90°N card

Get a member of your household to sign up for an OCBC 90°N card by the end of October, and both of you can earn up to 1,500 bonus KrisFlyer miles.

OCBC has a new offer for existing 90°N cardholders to earn up to 1,500 Travel$, which convert 1:1 into KrisFlyer miles, when referring someone resident in their own household to the card as a new-to-bank customer, provided they have at least one retail transaction to make per month for the next three months.

For those with household members who already have a banking relationship with OCBC, but are new to the bank’s credit cards in the last six months, a smaller 600-mile referral bonus is also available.

OCBC 90°N Household Referral Promotion

Between now and 31st October 2022, successfully refer your eligible fellow household members to one of the OCBC 90°N cards (Visa or Mastercard) and you’ll both be in line for bonus miles.

To participate, you’ll have to be a current 90°N cardholder, referring a member of your household to apply for a new 90°N card.

Following card approval, both you and your referee can receive a reward of up to 1,500 Travel$, transferable 1:1 into KrisFlyer miles with no fee, provided that:

  • Both you and your referee (the new 90°N card applicant) reside at the same address, as per your respective NRIC cards; and
  • Your referee submits their application by 31st October 2022; and
  • Your referee makes at least one transaction per month, starting from their card approval date, with their new 90°N card.

There is no limit to the number of household members you can refer, but you’ll only earn a maximum of one reward of up to 1,500 Travel$, even if you successfully refer multiple card applicants from your household.

However, your referees will each be entitled to bonus miles, no matter how many of them there are.

There is no special form or referral link to share with your referee during this promotion – your referral will be automatically detected by the shared household address of your referee.

In all cases, bonus miles will be credited two months after the end of the applicable spend month.

Your referee will also be eligible for up to 10,500 miles if they apply for the OCBC 90°N Visa card and spend a minimum of S$5,000 in the first two months from card approval, if they are new-to-bank.

Eligible spend

All retail spend your referee makes on their OCBC 90°N card in each of the three months following their approval date, including physical or online purchases, will be counted as eligible for the purposes of this promotion, with the exception of:

  • payments or transactions relating to annual card fees, insurance premiums, Cash-On-Instalment IPP, extended payment plan, income tax payment, bill payments made via Internet Banking, bill payments made via AXS, interest, late payment charges, goods and services taxes, cash advances, balance transfers, Bus / MRT transactions, Transit top-up, contactless payments and other bank fees and charges;
  • payments made to or transactions performed at merchants that fall into the exclusion categories / excluded organisations as set out by OCBC Bank in Clauses 1.4 to 1.6 of the TnCs governing the OCBC 90°N Mastercard or the OCBC 90°N Visa card as applicable.

Since only one transaction needs to be made by your referee in each of the three months from card approval, do make sure they know not to simply use the card to tap on and off the bus or MRT! It will need to be a retail transaction of some sort in order for the bonus to trigger.

Summary

OCBC recently rolled out a top spender promotion for its 90°N cards, and now there’s a member referral bonus on offer, but this one is restricted to those living in your own household, rather than an unrestricted friends and family deal.

Also, your referee(s) will need to be new-to-bank in order to qualify for the largest bonus level.

Referees who haven’t held an OCBC credit card in the last six months but do have some other OCBC financial product are only in line for up to 600 miles instead of 1,500, as are you.

Finally, no matter how many household members you can get to sign up to the card, you’ll only receive the bonus once (though they’ll all get a bonus).
