Singapore Airlines hikes Sapporo flights for 2026/27 ski season

Next winter, Singapore Airlines will stretch its seasonal non-stop Sapporo service across the full December - February period, representing the airline’s longest-ever run on this popular route.

Singapore Airlines has filed schedules confirming that its Singapore – Sapporo service will operate for three months next year, from late November 2026 through to the end of February 2027, a major extension compared to previous years when these winter seasonal flights traditionally wrapped up in January.

This represents another expansion of the route, which first launched in 2014, and will mean non-stop flights are retained further into the 2027 ski season, across the Chinese New Year period and also include Sapporo’s Snow Festival (Yuki Matsuri) for the first time.

Scoot will also offer daily Sapporo flights via Taipei next winter, a hike from its usual year-round four times weekly service.

Singapore Airlines first introduced seasonal non-stop flights to Sapporo’s New Chitose Airport in 2014, initially operating them as a late November to early / mid-January service to cater to the peak Hokkaido ski season.

These flights were suspended after January 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and did not resume for nearly five years.

The route made its comeback in the 2024/25 winter season, operating five times weekly throughout December and January. The current 2025/26 season marked a significant step up, with daily services running from late November through to the end of January 2026.

For the 2026/27 season, Singapore Airlines will maintain daily flights throughout December 2026 and January 2027, before transitioning to three times weekly service for the whole of February 2027.

This marks the first time the route will operate during the month of February, allowing travellers to experience Sapporo during the famous Snow Festival and extending non-stop ski season access for Singapore residents.

It also means the service will operate throughout the Chinese New Year holiday period – which will run from 6th February to 20th February in 2027.

This will see Singapore – Sapporo service continue on Tuesdays, Saturdays and Sundays for an additional four weeks for the month of February 2027, a first for the carrier’s Hokkaido flights.

In the return direction, Mondays, Wednesdays and Sundays will have non-stop flights during that month.

The timings remain consistent with previous seasons, departing Singapore at around 11pm to arrive at 7.30am the following morning, and returning from Sapporo at 9.30am to land back in Singapore shortly after 5pm the same day.

While Singapore Airlines only operates to Hokkaido during the peak winter season, budget subsidiary Scoot continues to serve Sapporo year-round via Taipei with Boeing 787-8 aircraft.

For most of the year Scoot’s service operates four times weekly on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays, but this is hiked to daily in the peak winter months and 2026/27 is set to be no exception, with another increase to daily service effective from 21st November 2026.

However, the total journey time on Scoot exceeds 10 hours in each direction, due to the transit stop in Taipei in both directions, making Singapore Airlines’ non-stop flights significantly more attractive, despite the higher fares.

Singapore Airlines opens both revenue tickets and award redemptions for booking 355 days before departure. For next year’s Sapporo flights, this means only few services are currently available for booking at the time of writing.

Based on our searches, cash fares are high, with round-trip pricing from Singapore starting at:

  • Economy: S$2,395
  • Business: S$4,495

Those rates are 60% higher in Economy Class and 6% higher in Business Class than they were this time last year, when flights were first released on this route for the winter 2025/26 season, so Singapore Airlines is clearly in no doubt that it can charge top dollar for this popular service.

Award space is also rather sporadic, on a route we understand relies heavily on travel agent seat allocation.

Here are the applicable one-way KrisFlyer award rates on this route.

Taxes and fees apply in addition to miles and typically come in at around S$65 from Singapore to Sapporo and just S$20 in the return direction.

Bear in mind that with Scoot redemptions, only the base fare is covered by miles – with taxes, fees and any other ancillary products like bags, meals and advance seat selection all payable in cash.

Don’t forget if you redeem on or after 1st April 2026, you’ll also be hit with Singapore’s new SAF tax on this route.

In Economy Class on SIA some Saver awards are currently being loaded in both directions on the route for next winter.

In Business Class the route seems to be going straight to the new Access award pricing from Singapore to Sapporo – at an eye-watering 100,500 miles one-way, though there are some Advantage spots at 80,500 miles in the return direction.

Singapore Airlines loads up fresh award space on these flights at 8am Singapore Time each morning, 355 days ahead of the departure date.

For example, jump online at 8am tomorrow morning – 13th December 2025 – to try and snag any available awards on SQ660 (SIN-CTS) or SQ661 (CTS-SIN) departing on 3rd December 2026, and so on.

This can be a good way to snap up a pair of Saver Business Class awards on these flights right from the outset, but sadly it’s not guaranteed.

Do keep checking as award space is dynamic, not fixed – more redemption seats do sometimes get added later.

Summary

Singapore Airlines continues to show strong confidence in its Singapore – Sapporo route, with the 2026/27 season representing the biggest operation yet. The extension into February 2027 will allow travellers to attend the Sapporo Snow Festival and enjoy late-season skiing, including across the CNY period.

Combined with Scoot’s hike to daily service from November 2026, Singapore residents will have more options than ever to reach Hokkaido, though the non-stop convenience of SIA’s service will likely remain the preferred choice – for those willing to pay the premium.

Award space is already being loaded for the first few flights, and if you make your searches at 8am each day over the next few weeks you’ll hopefully see subsequent space coming up progressively through to the end date of this seasonal route.
