Singapore Airlines has finalised its flight schedules including days of operation and aircraft type allocation across its network for the upcoming summer travel season, which means we now have a firm idea of where and when the carrier will be flying through to the end of October 2026.

While flights for this period have been available for booking for some time, many of the frequencies and aircraft types are initially carried over as a “copy-paste” from the previous season’s schedules. As a result, they weren’t necessarily 100% accurate – until now.

There are additional flights to Rome, Colombo, Hanoi, Taipei, Surabaya and Cairns in the mix this year, though some routes will see their usual seasonal frequency reductions, like Auckland, Phuket and Siem Reap.

Assuming four ‘troublesome’ Chinese cities still awaiting approval do ultimately receive continuous service, as we expect, the mainline carrier’s passenger network will stand at 78 destinations next summer, restoring flight volumes to around 86% of pre-pandemic levels.

Headline figures

In total Singapore Airlines will fly over 2,260 passenger flights per week by October 2026, its highest total since schedules were slashed in April 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

That’s around 86% of the pre-pandemic monthly total operated on the combined SilkAir / SIA network in January 2020. SilkAir was fully merged into SIA in May 2021.

Now that the northern summer 2026 schedule has been confirmed, and before we get into the full route list, here’s a quick summary of the most significant changes in store.

Major changes: Short- and medium-haul routes

• Beijing flight schedules continue to suffer frequency changes throughout the season, as they have done now for well over a year. Capital Airport flights alternate between two and three times daily, while newer Daxing services are once again completely suspended for six weeks between mid-August and late September 2026.
• Colombo will increase to 14 weekly flights from May 2026, with one daily Boeing 737-8 MAX supplementing a daily Boeing 787-10. The route was recently hiked from daily to 10 times weekly, so this represents a further increase.
• Dhaka frequencies will double from daily to twice daily from August 2026.
• Hanoi sees an additional daily flight, for a total of 21 services per week, from June 2026.
• Phuket has its usual seasonal reduction from its usual 42 weekly flights (six per day) to 35 (five per day) during the summer months.
• Shanghai will increase from four to five times daily from 29th March 2026, as part of its regular seasonal hike.
• Siem Reap will drop from its current twice daily service to 10 flights per week, from late March 2026.
• Surabaya will increase from 19 times weekly to 21 times weekly (i.e. full three times daily service) from late March 2026.
• Taipei sees its seasonal boost to 18 weekly flights extended into the summer season, as we recently reported, returning to the usual twice daily service from June 2026.

Major changes: Long-haul routes

• Auckland will see its usual seasonal reduction to a daily Singapore Airlines flight for the northern summer season, with Star Alliance partner Air New Zealand picking up the baton on two other daily services (up from one) during the April to October 2026 period.
• Barcelona will have five times weekly non-stop flights once again this summer, up from the usual two, during the peak period between 1st July 2026 and 6th September 2026. As such the Milan route will see daily terminator service during this period, while the carrier’s intra-Europe “fifth freedom” flight between Milan and Barcelona will be temporarily suspended.
• Cairns gets a boost from four to five times weekly flights using Airbus A350 Medium Haul aircraft for a seven-week period between early July and late September. This comes ahead of a hike to daily flights from November 2026, but using smaller Boeing 737-8 MAX aircraft, as we recently reported.
• Dubai will upgauge to the Airbus A380 for the northern summer season in 2026, as we reported earlier this month, bringing Suites to the route for the first time.

• Frankfurt drops back to its usual twice daily service for the summer season, as it regains its Airbus A380 service on SQ326/325.
• Paris returns to its usual twice daily service for the summer season, from 10 times weekly.
• Rome returns to its usual four times weekly frequency, having been cut to three weekly over the winter, with a further boost to five times weekly in store from late June 2026.

Here’s how the flight frequencies and aircraft types on the short-haul and Asia network will look during the upcoming season, which starts on 29th March 2026 and runs through to 24th October 2026.

Four China routes still pending approval

Since the pandemic, and with the full merger of SilkAir into Singapore Airlines, the carrier has been struggling to gain long-term approvals for flights on four of its routes:

• Chengdu
• Chongqing
• Shenzhen
• Xiamen

This year is no exception – you can’t book a cash ticket or a miles redemption on SIA to and from these cities from 29th March 2026 onwards, at the time of writing.

Approval by the Civil Aviation Authority of China (CAAC) does usually come through eventually, though quite often at a late stage and in at least one case recently there was also a brief gap in service before the green light was issued.

If these routes are of interest to you next summer, keep checking on the SIA site as we do expect them to be loaded in the coming weeks, in which case daily Boeing 737-8 MAX service is expected to and from all four cities, in line with their current schedule.

“Fifth freedom” routes

Singapore Airlines will operate three “fifth freedom” routes during the summer 2026 season, on which it has traffic rights to sell tickets to passengers travelling solely between these foreign cities.

• Frankfurt to New York JFK (Boeing 777-300ER)
• Milan to Barcelona (Airbus A350 Long Haul)
  except 1st July 2026 – 6th September 2026
• Tokyo to Los Angeles (Boeing 777-300ER)

This is one fewer “fifth freedom” route than we’re used to seeing, with the withdrawal of Manchester – Houston flights back in March 2025.

Note that it is not possible to buy or redeem tickets to travel solely on the following Singapore Airlines routes:

• Johannesburg to Cape Town
• Cape Town to Johannesburg

On these flights, you must be travelling to or from Singapore.

SIA has still not programmed a return for its Singapore – Hong Kong – San Francisco flights since these were suspended in January 2022, when Hong Kong banned transit passengers, in another of its ever-changing travel restrictions during the pandemic era.

Which routes are left?

With 78 destinations across the Singapore Airlines and former SilkAir network now reinstated, it’s interesting to consider which cities or airports are still to be added to the list (or not, as the case may be).

Singapore Airlines schedules get a couple of ‘big updates’ each year, and this is one of them, with flight frequencies and aircraft types confirmed for the northern summer season from late March 2026 to late October 2026.

Several routes see expanded service, notably Colombo moving to twice daily, Hanoi gaining a third daily flight, and Surabaya achieving full three-times-daily service, but the airline continues to implement seasonal frequency reductions on routes that see lower demand during the northern summer months – like Auckland, Phuket and Siem Reap.

The ongoing uncertainty surrounding the four Chinese cities awaiting CAAC approval is a familiar frustration, though daily Boeing 737 MAX service is expected, once clearances are granted.

If you are booking flights beyond 24th October 2026, do be aware that next winter’s schedule is still somewhat provisional, especially as far as aircraft types are concerned. We’ll have more firm news on the schedule for that season in around July this year.
