HSBC Premier Mastercard sign-up bonus cut to 58,200 miles + S$200 voucher

Now till 30th September 2026: Get up to 58,200 bonus miles and a S$200 Apple voucher with a new HSBC Premier Mastercard.

HSBC has launched a new welcome promotion for its Premier Mastercard, offering up to 58,200 miles plus a S$200 reward voucher through a two-tier reward system. Running from now till 30th September 2026, this promotion is available both to new cardholders and existing HSBC customers who don’t currently hold this specific card.

There’s a catch this time round, though. Unlike previous rounds of this promotion, the offer is capped at the first 800 eligible customers, and note that’s the first 800 to complete the spending requirement, not simply the first 800 to apply. Getting in early still helps, since it gives you a head start on the qualifying spend window.

As usual, to pick up this card you must be an HSBC Premier customer in Singapore – so sadly it’s not open to everyone. Also, there’s a smaller bonus of 34,200 miles for those who are not “Premier Qualified” customers – i.e. those without a total HSBC relationship balance of S$200,000+ at the current time.

The latest welcome bonus is a purely spend-based reward, for those charging a minimum of S$5,000 to their card from account opening date to the end of the following calendar month.

Bonus miles awarded depend on whether you are currently a “Premier Qualified” customer:

  • Having a Premier relationship with HSBC; and
  • Maintaining a total relationship balance of S$200,000+

If you are a Premier customer whose relationship balance has fallen below the requirement, you will be considered “Non-Premier Qualified” for the purposes of this promotion.

Premier Qualified cardholders who meet the S$5,000+ spending requirement receive 58,200 bonus miles and a S$200 reward voucher, plus base miles for the spend itself.

HSBC Premier customers in Singapore who are not Premier Qualified receive 34,200 bonus miles and the same S$200 reward voucher, plus base miles for the spend itself.

In the latter case the steep S$708.50 annual fee also applies – though the S$200 voucher softens that considerably. Netting it off, you’re paying an effective S$508.50 for 34,200 miles, or 1.49 cents per mile if you put no value on the card’s other perks. That’s a fairer deal than the 2.07 cents we calculated last time round.

Interestingly HSBC advertises the bonus promotion based only on a KrisFlyer miles transfer – but 20% more miles are available for those transferring into the bank’s better-ratio partners like British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Air France and EVA Air.

The voucher is redeemable at the Apple Store for HSBC Premier, run by Apple Authorised Reseller CarltonOne.

  • No minimum spend is required
  • Only one voucher per transaction
  • Any shortfall must be paid using the Premier Mastercard itself – no other payment method is accepted
  • No refund if the transaction comes to less than S$200

Since Apple gear rarely comes in under S$200, that last point isn’t much of a constraint in practice.

More importantly, that same store already offers up to 5% cashback on selected devices to HSBC Premier cardholders, and the voucher doesn’t displace it. Pay the balance with your Premier Mastercard and you’re collecting the S$200 voucher, the cashback and 1.68 mpd on the same purchase – which makes the voucher rather better value than a flat S$200 sounds.

The obvious caveat is that it’s only of any use if you’re in the market for Apple products in the first place!

  • Application period: 1st August 2026 to 30th September 2026
  • Approval deadline: 14th October 2026
  • Quota: First 800 eligible customers only
  • Spend qualification period: 1-2 months from card approval, depending on card account opening date
  • Bonus miles fulfilment: Within 120 days of account opening
  • Statement notification: By 31st January 2027

This is the first time we’ve seen HSBC put a volume limit on this particular promotion, and it’s an odd choice.

There’s no counter or public running total and no way to know whether the quota is close to full. Anyone weighing up a S$5,000 spending commitment is being asked to do so without knowing whether the reward is still on the table, and since eligibility isn’t settled until your spend posts, you could apply on day one, charge the S$5,000 and still find yourself behind 800 faster movers.

If HSBC simply wanted to contain the cost of the promotion, a shorter application window might have done the job without leaving applicants guessing. As it stands, the cap may well deter people from applying even while slots remain.

We’d expect HSBC to confirm if and when the quota is reached, but there’s nothing in the terms obliging them to.

Eligible applicants:

  • Must be HSBC Premier customers
  • Must not currently hold a principal HSBC Premier Mastercard
  • Must not have cancelled a principal HSBC Premier Mastercard within the past 12 months prior to approval

Application requirements:

  • Consent to receive marketing materials during application
  • Do not revoke this consent before the gift is fulfilled
  • Pay S$708.50 annual fee (waived for Premier Qualified customers)

This eligibility scope is more generous than typical HSBC promotions, which usually exclude current holders of any principal HSBC credit card.

Qualifying spend periods vary by account opening date, as outlined in the following table.

HSBC Premier Mastercard
Spend Periods
Card Opening Date Qualifying Spend Period
1 – 31 Aug 2026 Until 30 Sep 2026
1 – 30 Sep 2026 Until 31 Oct 2026
1 – 14 Oct 2026 Until 30 Nov 2026

This gives you 1 to 2 months to meet the minimum spend, depending on your card approval date. If you’re worried about clearing S$5,000 in a short window, aim to be approved early in the month.

One useful quirk is that spend on supplementary cards can be combined with the principal card to hit the S$5,000 – but only if the supplementary card applications were submitted at the same time as the primary one. Apply for a supplementary card later and its spend won’t be aggregated, so it’s worth adding family members at the point of application if you think you’ll need the help.

Qualifying transactions are posted retail purchases, with foreign currency amounts converted at prevailing exchange rates. The main things that won’t count are payment facilitators like CardUp and ipaymy, prepaid top-ups (YouTrip, EZ-Link, GrabPay and similar), and anything on an instalment plan. Utilities, insurance premiums and charitable donations aren’t named in the promotion terms, but fall under HSBC’s general rewards exclusions and won’t count either.

The welcome bonus points can be transferred to 20 airline and hotel partners, with transfer ratios significantly impacting the effective value:

As you can see some of these options fall into our ‘lousy’ category due to their adverse transfer ratios, which effectively reduce the ‘advertised’ miles per dollar earn rate of your card compared to a 2.5:1 partner – like Asia Miles or BA.

In all cases the transfer ratios shown in the tables above represent the minimum transfer of HSBC Reward points to loyalty programme miles or points – after that it’s flexible.

Transfer logistics are as follows:

  • Processed instantly via HSBC Singapore app (exceptions: Hainan within 5 working days, JAL within 10 working days)
  • No transfer fees
  • Minimum 10,000 miles / points, then increments of 2 miles / 1 point
  • Points pool across all your HSBC cards

For cardholders spending S$5,000 in local currency, total miles earned reach 66,600:

  • Sign-up bonus: Up to 58,200 miles
  • Base earning: Up to 8,400 miles (at 1.68 mpd)

A revamp of the HSBC Premier Mastercard in August 2025 saw its earn rates improve significantly. However, the effective value depends heavily on transfer partner choice.

You aren’t really getting the card’s ‘full’ earn rates if you transfer to some partners.

Using the most favourable 25,000:10,000 ratios (e.g. British Airways Avios, Cathay Pacific Asia Miles), the full 66,600 miles value as a Premier Qualified customer is realised.

Less favourable ratios reduce the effective earning accordingly – for KrisFlyer it’s 48,500 bonus miles, for example, if you’re a Premier Qualified customer.

Summary

This latest sign-up promotion for the HSBC Premier Mastercard is a step backwards for Premier Qualified customers, with the bonus cut by more than a third to 58,200 miles.

The S$200 voucher doesn’t come close to bridging that gap. At a typical 1.8 cent-per-mile valuation you’re around S$400 worse off than in the previous round.

The picture is brighter at the other end. Non-Premier Qualified customers get the same 34,200 bonus miles as last time, but now with the voucher on top, which brings the effective cost of those miles down to 1.49 cents each.

It’s also worth noting that KrisFlyer falls into HSBC’s 3:1 transfer ratio partner list – so the maximum bonus if you’re transferring into that programme is 48,500 miles.

Additionally, with the new 800-customer cap in play, leaving your application until late September looks risky.

With the improved earn rates and comprehensive World Elite benefits, this is still a solid card for HSBC Premier customers – it’s just a far less generous moment to be signing up for it than it was two months ago, and a long way from the peak offer of 106,200 miles this time last year.
