KrisFlyer Miles Singapore Airlines

The Hidden Perks of a Singapore Airlines Boarding Card

Get amazing discounts on hotels, attractions, restaurants and bars with your Singapore Airlines boarding card

Okay – so they may not exactly be “hidden”… the cabin crew make a brief announcement before landing and there is a little stamp on the back of the boarding card itself that hints towards the perks – but few people realise that it’s a veritable treasure trove of discounts on everything from tourist attractions to hotels, bars, restaurants, even private yachts!

So, we here at Mainly Miles have decided to blow the cover on the list and have picked our five top perks as follows, with a special bonus perk at the end.

To start with – the usual caveats:

  • Some perks are only available to “tourists” i.e. if you are a resident of Singapore and don’t have a visa stamp in your passport – you may not be eligible.
  • Validity for some perks varies from 7-30 days, check each offer carefully.
  • Some perks don’t require the boarding card! All you need is your KrisFlyer or PPS club card, and anyone can get one here.
  • Perks are regularly updated, and usually the best deals are short-time promotions, so check the official website here for up to date info and the complete list.

1. The Singapore Flyer

A giant 165m tall observation wheel, just on the edge of the city centre – this is an absolute must visit for tourists and residents alike. We personally take all of our visitors here on their first night in Singapore. Our particular favourite is the “Champagne Flight” – it’s the perfect, chilled out cure for jetlag and at or just after sundown offers a spectacular view of the city – all whilst you sip on a refreshing flute of Moët.

2. Gardens by the Bay

Two large climate-controlled conservatories and one large outdoor garden, on the edge of Marina Bay – just across from the Singapore Flyer (maybe combine the trip). An amazing variety of plants and trees take you on a ’round the world’ tour. Highlights include a massive Baobab tree, a 1000-year old olive tree, and the world’s largest indoor waterfall. We also thoroughly recommend a stop at Pollen, whilst in the flower dome, for a refreshing glass of Sauv Blanc!

“National Gallery Singapore is a visual arts institution which oversees the largest public collection of modern art in Singapore and Southeast Asia. Situated in the heart of the Civic District, the Gallery is housed in two national monuments – City Hall and the former Supreme Court – that have been beautifully restored and transformed into this exciting venue.”

It is also home to several stunning bars and restaurants with superb views to complete the experience. We recommend Aura for cocktails and dinner or Odette for a Michelin star experience. Culture and Cocktails – what more can you ask for?!

4. Le Méridien Sentosa

Most of the SIA hotel deals aren’t worth it (go to one of the online search engines and you’ll likely find a better deal) but Le Méridien is pretty good!
4/5 on Trip Advisor and #6 best hotel in Sentosa. Also 20% off their restaurant and bar – taking inflated hotel prices down to something a little more reasonable so you don’t feel too guilty about that cheeky nightcap in the hotel bar.

20% discount on Best Available Rates

20% off total bill at Latest Recipe and the WoW – World of Whisky

5. Joël Robuchon’s Resturant – Sentosa

The proud owner of 3 Michelin Stars and rave reviews across the internet. For the full experience opt for the dégustation menu and be spoiled with caviar, crab, lobster, truffles and foie gras. Book the taxi home in advance, you’ll have to crawl out the door after this 7-course feast!

And finally… the Bonus offer! This one is a real steal…

Bonus Perk: The Singapore Explorer Pass

The one pass to rule them all. Now – there are a lot of terms and conditions associated with this pass. The two most important:

  • You must contact your overseas Singapore Airlines office to book directly before you travel. These tickets cannot be purchased in Singapore.
