OCBC have been tinkering with their credit card benefits lately, most significantly last week by withdrawing the 4 miles per dollar on mobile payments with the OCBC Titanium Rewards card five months earlier than originally announced.
A new promotion was recently added to the card offering a 2% cash rebate on top of the usual miles earned for transactions made using the OCBC Titanium Rewards card at electronics stores BEST Denki in Singapore between now and 31st January 2019.
How it works
Simply make a purchase at a BEST Denki store using your OCBC Titanium Rewards card and the amount spent (excluding delivery cost, voucher purchases or services) will be eligible for a 2% cash rebate.
The rebate will be applied as a credit to your OCBC Titanium Rewards account by the end of the month after the transaction date (e.g. 3rd August transaction, credit applied by 30th September).
Cardmembers will continue to receive 4 miles per S$1 spent at BEST Denki on top of the cash rebate as usual for transactions made in the Electronics category (MCC 5732).

Summary
A nice ‘cashback’ bonus on top of a good miles earning rate here if you have an electronics purchase to make. BEST Denki usually price competitively, though of course you should always shop around before committing.

Do you know.. cos I read their TS & Cs and I didn’t find it there.. will purchases under this promo count towards the each (blue and pink) card’s max $12k p.a. spend..?
I phoned up OCBC.. Best Denki promo spend becomes part of each card’s annual max. spend of S$12,000 for 10X OCBC$..

Thanks for checking with OCBC, always best to get it ‘from the horse’s mouth’ with things like this. Unfortunate that it counts as part of the overall 10x promo but at least you know where you stand.

No sweat.. I generally ‘will try’ to see if ‘anyone knows’, which is sometimes faster than making the call.. but yeah, I made the call and found out for sure.. and, again, like with many past cases, agent on phone actually initially came up with an answer that I didn’t think was right, he said that, if the $12k p.a. was hit, then the ‘bonus’ would be credited in the next year, which didn’t make sense to me so I prodded for a more definitive answer, and then later was told what I (and you all) now know..
Bummer about Tokyo weather.. it’s starting to be ‘like this’ a bit more often then before.. still won’t make me want to go to Japan any less tho.. ha..
