Eligibility

To be eligible, you must be a primary Citi PremierMiles cardholder who had your card approved and issued on or before 31st July 2020, so this promotion is not for new or recently approved customers.

Registration

To register, principal cardholders who are eligible must send an SMS to 72484 between 1st November 2020 and 31st December 2020 using their mobile number registered with Citi, in the following format:

PMSPEND [space] Last 4 digits of your Citi PremierMiles Card number

Example: If the last four digits of your card number is 1234, you will need to send “PMSPEND 1234” to 72484

You are only successfully enrolled if you receive an SMS from Citibank confirming that you enrolment request has been received, so act fast to be within the first 25,000 eligible.

How it works

Provided you spend at least S$5,000 in both November and December 2020, you’ll be entitled to an additional 2.8 miles per dollar (equivalent to 4 mpd) on the first S$10,000 of eligible spend during the promotion.

If S$5,000 per month seems a little steep, Citi has an offer for those spending at least S$2,000 in both November and December 2020, with an additional 1.8 miles per dollar on eligible transactions for an effective 3 mpd on the first S$10,000 of eligible spend.

Your qualifying spend in each of the two months of the promotion will determine the bonus rate payable on all eligible transactions.

For example if you spend S$2,500 in November and S$7,000 in December, you’ll only trigger the 1.8 additional miles bonus (3 mpd equivalent), because you did not hit S$5,000+ in qualifying spend during both months.

Likewise if you spend S$1,900 in November and S$5,900 in December, no bonus rate will be applied because you did not even meet the lower qualifying spend threshold in the first month of the campaign.

The bonus earn rate also applies in addition to the base 2 mpd for eligible transactions in foreign currency, which means effective earn rates of 4.8 mpd at the higher tier and 3.8 mpd at the lower tier for this spend.

Eligible spend categories

This promotion allows you to earn up to 4 mpd on all online spend, except transactions performed at merchants that fall within an excluded category or with a merchant that has been excluded by the bank, as set out in www.citibank.com.sg/rwdexcl.

Additionally, the following retail spend also qualifies:

Category MCC
Dining 5811, 5812, 5813, 5814
Department & Clothing Stores 5262, 5309, 5311, 5331, 5399, 5611, 5621, 5631,
5641, 5651, 5661, 5691, 5699
Computers, Electronics and Furniture 5045, 5712, 5732

There are some useful merchants in here, including TANGS, Harvey Norman and Challenger, not to mention most clothes stores, shoe stores, bars and restaurants across Singapore.

In many cases, you can combine this bonus with the latest Kris+ up to 9 mpd earn rate offer for in-store purchases, running until 8th November 2020.

When is the bonus credited?

The bonus Citi Miles from this promotion will be credited into your account within two months from the end of the promotion period, i.e. by 28th February 2021.

Terms and conditions

Full terms and conditions for this offer can be found on the Citi website here.

This includes details of what counts as “Qualifying Spend” to meet the S$2,000+ or S$5,000+ per month to trigger the applicable bonus earn rate, with exclusions like bill payments and gambling transactions.

Spend using Citi PayAll is counted as qualifying spend for the purposes of this promotion, but does not earn at the higher 3 mpd / 4 mpd rate.

That means you can potentially channel a large amount of the spend requirement (to activate the bonus) on rental payments, tax payments, education and other bills.

Recent PayAll category additions include Insurance and Miscellaneous fees.

For a full list of which credit card loyalty points balances transfer into which frequent flyer programmes or hotel loyalty schemes in Singapore, check out our comprehensive guide here. It also gives examples of some of the alliance and partner airline redemptions you can achieve that you might not have considered before.

They also transfer to your preferred frequent flyer programme quickly compared to some other cards. In our experience of transferring Citi Miles to KrisFlyer, Avios and Asia Miles they usually credit at the loyalty programme side within 24 hours, with a maximum wait of 2 days.

Note: A couple of readers recently transferring from Citi into both Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer and British Airways Avios have advised us the process has slowed down a lot lately, with a wait of several days to a week before seeing the miles credit into your account. We’ll keep an eye on this and try it for ourselves soon.

  1. I understand that ipaymy rental is coded under MCC7399 and therefore is counted under “qualifying spend” for the promotion. But it did not state that ipaymy rental is excluded from the bonus payout of 1.8/2.8 Citi Miles as 7399 is not in the exclusion list under the online transcation. I understand that offline transaction has a clear list available with MCC codes.

Eligible Spend” refers to certain Online Transactions which do not fall under the excluded Merchant Category or which are not in respect of a merchant that has been excluded by the bank, as set out in http://www.citibank.com.sg/rwdexcl and non-online transactions (“Offline Transaction”) made at only eligible Merchant Category Codes (“Eligible MCC”) as listed in the table below in respect of which the Bonus Citi Miles can be accorded IF the Promotion Qualifying Conditions are met.
