Singapore Airlines has announced that due to the continued impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting uncertainty over travel plans for its frequent flyers, an additional status extension will be gifted to KrisFlyer and PPS Club memberships, giving members an additional year at their current tier.
Other measures include PPS Reserve Value extension and Elite Miles rollover to provide subsequent tier renewal support.
PPS Club membership extension
In a previous renewal support programme announced in September 2020, only 50% of the PPS Value was due to be credited for PPS Club members with tier renewal end dates through August 2021.
Now the full amount of the required PPS Value for renewal will be credited to your KrisFlyer account as Reserve Value, based on your membership tier and tier renewal end-date captured in SIA’s records as of 8th September 2020.

If your PPS Club membership has already been renewed under Singapore Airlines’ 1-year automatic status renewal scheme from March 2020 to February 2021, the PPS Value will be credited as follows.
Membership Tier at 8 Sep 2020 |
Tier renewal end-date | PPS Value credit (as Reserve Value) |
|
1st Batch | 2nd Batch | ||
Solitaire PPS Club (qualified after 1 Jun 2018) | Mar 2021 to Aug 2021 | 25,000 by 31 Oct 2020 | 25,000 by 31 Jan 2021 |
Solitaire PPS Club (qualified before 1 June 2018) | 12,500 by 31 Oct 2020 | 12,500 by 31 Jan 2021
PPS Club |
If your PPS Club membership has yet to be renewed under Singapore Airlines’ 1-year automatic status renewal scheme from March 2020 to February 2021, you will first get the 1-year automatic tier renewal.
50% of the required PPS Value will then be credited in the subsequent year as Reserve Value to support your next renewal between September 2021 and February 2022, as shown below.
Membership Tier at 8 Sep 2020 |
Tier renewal end-date | PPS Value credit
(before auto renewal) | (after auto renewal) | by | Reserve Value
Solitaire PPS Club (qualified after 1 Jun 2018) | Sep 2020 to Feb 2021 | Sep 2021 to Feb 2022 | 31 Mar 2021 | 50,000 |
Solitaire PPS Club (qualified before 1 June 2018) | 25,000

Credited PPS Value under this programme will not count towards the tracking of PPS Value required to achieve PPS Rewards.
PPS Reserve Value extension
Singapore Airlines is also extending the Reserve Value for PPS Club members. Reserve Value expiring in:
- Year 1: Mar 2021 – Feb 2022; and
- Year 2: Mar 2022 – Feb 2023
Will be extended to Year 3: Mar 2023 – Feb 2024.
Extension of Reserve Value validity period will take place in March 2021, regardless of your qualification date.
“For PPS Club members, any Reserve Value that expires between March 2021 and February 2023 will also have its validity extended to between March 2023 and February 2024. This will provide them with more flexibility in utilising their Reserve Value for subsequent membership renewal.”
Singapore Airlines
This is an important factor because many members took advantage of the airline’s “earn status credits without flying” initiative back in September and October 2020.
If they did so purely to achieve an additional membership tier year, they may now feel hard done by since this turned out not to be necessary, however at least the PPS Value earned will go towards renewal in the following year!

KrisFlyer membership extension
Provided your existing KrisFlyer Elite Silver or Elite Gold membership expires between March 2021 and February 2022, your membership will be renewed for a further year even if you don’t (or didn’t) accrue the usual Elite Miles or PPS Value required, which is the case for most members this year.

This will also apply to those who already had an annual status extension applied in April 2020, when the COVID-19 impact was first becoming apparent.
As with PPS Club tiers, this policy will supersede the earlier initiative announced on 1st September 2020, where KrisFlyer was contributing 50% of the required Elite miles to your account to assist with renewal from March 2021 to February 2022.
As such, 50% of the required Elite miles for renewal will be no longer be credited to your KrisFlyer account, as this has become unnecessary.
You won’t need to apply for your tier extension, since all KrisFlyer Elite members will have their membership in their current tier automatically extended at the end of their membership year due between March 2021 and February 2022.
Rolling over Elite Miles to the next membership year
KrisFlyer has also announced that it will roll over Elite Miles earned for memberships with start date from March 2021 to February 2022.
That’s important because many members took advantage of the airline’s “earn status credits without flying” initiative back in September and October 2020.
If they did so purely to achieve an additional membership tier year, they may now feel hard done by since this turned out not to be necessary, however at least the Elite Miles earned will go towards renewal in the following year!
Here’s how it works:
- Any Elite miles earned through air and non-air accruals during the qualification cycle will be carried forward after your membership year has been extended.
- Each KrisFlyer Elite member will be eligible for a one-time re-crediting of Elite miles.
- Only Elite miles accrued within your membership year (with membership start date between March 2020 and February 2021) will be re-credited.
- KrisFlyer Elite Silver members who are upgraded to KrisFlyer Elite Gold tier before their KrisFlyer Elite Silver membership end-date will also be eligible for a one-time re-credit of Elite miles within two months of the upgrade date.
- Only Elite miles accrued within your membership year (with membership start date from March 2020 till February 2021) will be considered for the re-crediting.
Elite Gold Rewards are now KrisFlyer Milestone Rewards
In case you missed it, Elite Gold Rewards were first launched in October 2018.

KrisFlyer has now renamed Elite Gold Rewards “KrisFlyer Milestone Rewards”, though much of the website has yet to catch up. A small change has also been applied to the most recent extension offer.

Under the new policy those expiring between July 2020 and December 2020 will now all be extended until 31st December 2021.
“Elite Gold Rewards expiring between July 2020 and December 2020, or issued in 2020, will be extended, and will be valid till 31 December 2021.”
Singapore Airlines
This applies to:
- Double KrisFlyer Miles Reward
- Short-haul Advance Upgrade
- Premium Economy Advance Upgrade
The extension will be reflected through your account progressively by 31st December 2020, so don’t expect the validity dates to change immediately when you log on to your account.
If you have applied your Short-haul Advance Upgrade or Premium Economy Advance Upgrade Reward on a booking which has now been converted to a flight credit, you’ll need to contact KrisFlyer Membership Services to redeposit your eligible KrisFlyer Milestone Rewards.
Your Reward will then be extended and will be valid till 31st December 2021.
If you already applied your Double KrisFlyer Miles Reward against a booking which has now been refunded, but the status of the reward in the system still shows as ‘Applied’.
In this case, provided the refunded booking meets the eligibility criteria for the current global travel waiver policy, you will be able to have your reward reinstated by contacting KrisFlyer Membership Services. It will then be valid until 31st December 2021.
What about expiring miles?
Singapore Airlines has been progressively extending the validity of miles for members with expiries approaching during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The latest extension was announced in October 2020 and remains applicable for those with miles expiring between April 2020 and June 2021, with validity extended until at least April 2021 and up to December 2021 in some cases.
Those whose miles were expiring between April and December 2020 and had already received a 6-month extension also had their miles extended by a further six months as part of the same extension.

Full details
Singapore Airlines has provided a full breakdown of the status extension and membership support initiatives, including a list of frequently asked questions, at the following links:

Summary
Another raft of extensions from KrisFlyer for PPS Club members and Elite Silver and Gold status holders, which centre around an inevitable annual tier extension for everyone, given the ongoing inability to travel due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
PPS Value and Elite Miles accrued also get a rollover, while Elite Gold Rewards are being renamed KrisFlyer Milestone Rewards.
If your account was already gifted with 50% of the PPS Value or Elite Miles required for your next annual renewal, this will no longer take place as the new policy supersedes it.
Many who spent money at SIA merchants like the KrisShop as part of the airline’s earn on the ground strategy to gain another annual tier membership year may now feel a little hard done by as this was unnecessary as it turns out.
On the plus side, any additional PPS Value or Elite Miles earned through that initiative will roll over by at least one membership year, to assist you with subsequent tier renewals.

Would have preferred to spend the miles but extension of expiry by SQ is appreciated. CX is not extending miles validity which is so unfriendly.
All new miles accrual will not have expiry period unlike Krisflyer so Asia Milea is a safe bet in my opinion
Andrew, I don’t see these informations at the SQ website. Do you know why they haven’t published it? Thanks
Hi Henrique,

Hope it helps!
My KrisFlyer Gold tier expires 28 February 2021. Will the new expiry date be February 2022, and then extended again at this point?
Yes correct!
