Spend and win 50,000 miles with your KrisFlyer UOB credit card

UOB is giving away a total of 10 million KrisFlyer miles in a prize draw exclusively for its KrisFlyer UOB credit card holders, and you can earn unlimited entries for spend made on the card between now and the end of February 2023.

In total 200 lucky winners will each receive 50,000 KrisFlyer miles by 31st May 2023, enough to redeem a return Business Class flight from Singapore to Bangkok, or a one-way A380 Suites award from Singapore to Hong Kong.

This could be a good time to switch all your Kris+ spending to the KrisFlyer UOB credit card, now that it earns 3 mpd on all purchases made through that platform, including for big ticket items like electronic goods at Challenger and Harvey Norman.

Registration is required

Entry into the prize draw is not automatic. In order to participate, and for each S$200+ spend block on your card to generate entries, you must successfully register to participate in this promotion.

That requires principal cardholders to send an SMS to 77862 using their mobile number registered with UOB, in the following format:

KFUOBLD [space] Last 4 alphanumeric digits of your NRIC or Passport Number Example: If your NRIC is S1234567A, you will need to send “KFUOBLD 567A” to 77862

All cardholders are eligible for this promotion, with no upper participant cap.

There are four qualifying spend periods for this draw, and the number of draws you are eligible to participate in depends when you successfully register by SMS.

You only need to register once to participate in the current spend period and automatically be entered in all subsequent spend periods.

For example, if you successfully register on 30th November 2022, you will be eligible to participate in all four draws – 1A, 1B, 2 and 3. If you successfully register on 31st January 2023, you will be eligible to participate only in Draws 2 and 3.

In essence, you will be able to participate in all four draws, provided you register by 30th November 2022, so that should be your aim.

Regardless of when you register within the first spend period you will participate in, all your spend of S$200+ during that period will earn you entries into the draw, even spend you made before registering.

Earning chances

You will earn entries into the prize draw for every S$200 of cumulative spend made on your KrisFlyer UOB credit card, provided you have successfully registered for that spend period (or an earlier one) by SMS, as outlined above.

• Existing cardholders earn one entry for every S$200 of cumulative spend
• New cardholders earn two entries for every S$200 of cumulative spend

You will be considered a new cardholder if you picked up a KrisFlyer UOB credit card as principal cardholder during the promotion period (i.e. on or after 10th November 2022), having not not cancelled any KrisFlyer UOB credit card or debit cards in the past six months prior to the commencement of the promotion.

Remember it’s cumulative spend that counts here, so your S$200 spend can be made up of one or more transactions. For example, if you make eight S$25 transactions, you’ll still get one entry into the draw (8 x S$25 = S$200), or two entries if you’re a new cardholder.

Your entries in each draw date will carry forward to the next draw, if you’re not chosen as a winner in the that particular draw.

For example, if you are a new cardholder and you spend S$1,100 during Spend Period 1A (i.e. between 10th and 30th November 2022) and S$2,100 during Spend Period 1B (i.e. between 1st and 31st December 2022):

• In Draw 1A: You will have a total of 10 chances (two chances per S$200 cumulative spend). Let’s say you are not picked as a winner, you can still participate in subsequent draw(s).
  
• In Draw 1B: You now have a total of 32 chances, from your total spend of S$3,200 over the two Spend Periods divided by S$200 (16), then doubled (two chances per S$200 cumulative spend for new cardholders, so 16 x 2 = 32).

Never let it be said that UOB doesn’t know how to complicate what could otherwise be a perfectly simple promotion!

Prize draws and miles crediting

Each of the four spend periods will have 50 unique winners, selected at random by an electronic system.

If you are selected as a winner, you will be notified via letter, SMS or email, as per your records with UOB. Prize notifications and crediting dates into your KrisFlyer account are outlined below.

As you can see even if you are a winner, you’ll be waiting well into 2023 to see the 50,000 KrisFlyer miles prize land in your account, but that will still be a nice surprise nonetheless!

The card now earns 3 mpd at all Kris+ merchants

With the KrisFlyer UOB credit card earning 1.2 mpd on most general spend, you’ll probably want to be targeting the card’s 3 mpd earning categories where possible, including SIA Group spend.

As we recently reported, this now includes all Kris+ transactions, with no monthly spend cap, which could be a great way to earn this enhanced rate while also earning entries into this prize draw over the coming months.

Remember you will also earn an additional 3 mpd to 9 mpd directly via Kris+ in the form of KrisPay miles, which you can transfer instantly and directly into your KrisFlyer account, on top of the 3 mpd UOB is offering.

That’s especially true for big-ticket items like electronics and appliances at the likes of Audio House, Harvey Norman and Challenger as we approach the Christmas season, where monthly spend caps on your eligible 4 mpd cards are likely to be exhausted.

Using your KF UOB card at Kris+ also saves the hassle and complexity of managing your monthly 4 mpd caps on your other credit cards, so it might be a good idea to simply switch all your Kris+ spending to the card, especially while this prize draw is running.

If you have spending coming up using your KrisFlyer UOB credit card between now and 28th February 2023, make sure you register by SMS to enter the lucky draw to win 50,000 KrisFlyer miles, with no upper cap on the number of entries you can recieve, for each S$200 cumulative spending block.

Kris+ spend would be a great way to do this, now that the card earns an uncapped 3 mpd on in-app spend at all merchants there.

Entry into the draw is free, and 50,000 KrisFlyer miles would be a nice gift to receive in 2023, with a generous 200 customers in line to benefit.
