Confirmed: Singapore Public Holidays in 2027

Don't waste your annual leave in 2027.

With public holidays now confirmed and five long weekends in play, we've crunched the calendar for the best booking strategy to maximise time away from your desk!

Singapore’s Ministry of Manpower has confirmed the public holiday dates for 2027. That means it’s time to start planning your leave days – whether you’re aiming to maximise long weekends for quick regional getaways or stretch your leave for more adventurous, longer trips.

There are five long weekends in 2027, one less than this year but better than the four we saw in 2025, though 2023 was the best in recent times with eight!

On these dates you’ll get three days off without having to take any leave whatsoever, but they are sure to prove popular next year, as always.

These long weekends can be easily extended to a 4-day break, for taking only a single leave day at either side, and the good news is that two public holidays fall on a Thursday in 2027, unlocking two additional options if that’s your strategy.

That gives you a total of seven 4-day weekend opportunities, if you’re willing to part with a single leave day.

Here’s the full rundown of opportunities.

First of all, here is the full list of the 11 official gazetted public holidays in Singapore for 2027.

This year that affects the second day of Chinese New Year.

When a public holiday falls on a Saturday, there is no benefit for those not normally working at the weekend, which unfortunately affects the first day of Chinese New Year, Labour Day and Christmas Day in 2027.

Long weekends (no leave needed)

If you’re a fan of preserving your precious annual leave days for longer trips, and you’re happy with a three-day break for a regional jaunt, there are five opportunities to do just that in 2027.

Extending long weekends (single leave day)

Happy with 4 consecutive days off work for taking just a single annual leave day?

Here’s our rundown of seven opportunities to do that in 2027.

The additional ones here compared to the long weekend list are:

  • Vesak Day in May, which falls on a Thursday in 2027
  • Deepavali in October, which also falls on a Thursday in 2027

For New Year’s Day you could alternatively take Thursday 31 December 2026 for a Thursday – Sunday break, though that dips into your 2026 leave balance rather than your 2027 allocation.

Of course you can always extend these seven options slightly at either side with an extra leave day (2 leave days in total) to make them 5-day trips.

Hari Raya Puasa falls on a Wednesday in 2027, which doesn’t hand you a long weekend for a single leave day, but take two leave days on either side and you’ll give yourself a five-day stretch to jet away somewhere for a bit longer, or further afield.

9 Mar (Tue)

3 days of leave in May will score you 9 days off

Interested in a longer trip next year?

Unfortunately the usual Chinese New Year trick doesn’t work in 2027, with both days of CNY landing on the weekend (Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 February), you’d need a full four leave days to stretch it into nine, rather than the usual three.

The good news is that May more than makes up for it.

Hari Raya Haji (Monday 17 May) and Vesak Day (Thursday 20 May) fall in the same week, so by taking just 3 days of leave you can bag yourself a full 9 days out of the office, from Saturday 15 to Sunday 23 May.

Leave-efficient 9-day option
(15 May – 23 May)

  PH Date(s)
2027
Apply for leave on Days for a trip
Hari Raya Haji 17 May (Mon)
  9 days
    18 May (Tue)
19 May (Wed)
Vesak Day 20 May (Thu)
    21 May (Fri)

You’ll then score 9 days off by taking just 3 days of annual leave.

Not fussed about the full 9? Just taking 2 leave days (Tuesday 18 May and Wednesday 19 May) still nets you a very tidy six-day break from Saturday 15 May to Thursday 20 May.

Bear in mind this is a popular window, so flights to many destinations will be pricier than usual and award space more limited. Worth booking early!

Planning something more ambitious in 2027? That same May window is comfortably the most efficient place to spend your leave.

Take the three ‘golden days’ above and simply carry on into the following week, adding Monday 24 May to Friday 28 May, or the week before (Monday 10 May to Friday 14 May) and you’ll turn 8 days of leave into a full 16 days off – Saturday 15 May to Sunday 30 May or Saturday 8 to Sunday 23 May.

One to note for the diary – the very end of 2027 is a washout, with both Christmas Day (Saturday 25 December 2027) and New Year’s Day 2028 (Saturday 1 January) falling on a Saturday, so there’s no year-end long weekend to sign off 2027, and no leave-stretching option there either, like there is most years.

Still got 2026 leave days to use?

If you’re still holding on to an annual leave balance to use up this year, don’t worry.

We’ve got you covered with our guide to maximising Singapore’s 2026 Public Holidays.

Summary

Don’t waste your annual leave in 2027. The pick of the year is a superb week in May – Hari Raya Haji (Monday 17th) and Vesak Day (Thursday 20th) land just three days apart, so three well-placed leave days turn into nine days off, or a full 16 days for eight days of leave if you’re after something more ambitious.

Beyond that there are five long weekends needing no leave at all, seven opportunities for a 4-day trip with just a single leave day, and a five-day break over Hari Raya Puasa in March for two leave days. The one disappointment is Chinese New Year, which falls across the weekend in 2027 and so misses out on its usual leave-stretching potential.

As always, we’re assuming most of our readers are office-based ‘Monday to Friday’ types. If you work a different pattern you’ll want to run your eye over the full public holiday calendar above to pinpoint where your own sweet spots lie in 2027.

Wherever you’re hoping to jet off to, it may be worth locking in your annual leave now to maximise your days off, then work out where to go later.
