Singapore Airlines has scrapped plans to return its Airbus A380 to Frankfurt for the northern summer 2027 season, with a four-class Boeing 777-300ER now set to operate the daily SQ326/325 flights from late March through to late October 2027 instead.
It’s a double blow for the German hub, since not only does the superjumbo stay away for a second consecutive season, but the supplementary SQ330/329 service that has been plugging the capacity gap this winter also disappears from the schedule, leaving Frankfurt with 28% fewer seats next summer than it had this year.
For readers who secured Suites awards on these flights next year it’s disappointing news of course, since you’ll now be flying in the 777-300ER’s 2013 First Class seat instead.

Frankfurt loses the A380 for summer 2027
The A380 last operated to Frankfurt on 24th October 2026, the final day of the northern summer 2026 season. As we reported in May, it then left the route for the whole of the NW26/27 winter season, with SIA adding a 6x weekly SQ330/329 Airbus A350 Long Haul service to help make up for the lost seats.
The superjumbo had been loaded back onto SQ326/325 from the start of the NS27 season on 28th March 2027, but those flights have now been switched to the Boeing 777-300ER for the entire season, through to 30th October 2027.
SQ330/329 isn’t loaded for next summer at all, so Frankfurt drops back to just two daily flights, both operated by the four-class Boeing 777-300ER.

It’s not a temporary blip – forward schedules in GDS show Frankfurt planned exactly the same way for the NW27/28 winter season, with no A380 and no SQ330/329, right through to March 2028.

That would leave Frankfurt without the superjumbo for at least 17 months, quite a change for a city that until recently was one of the most consistent A380 destinations on SIA’s network.
A big drop in seats
With only two daily 777-300ER services, Frankfurt is set for a significant capacity cut next summer. Here’s how weekly seats in each direction compare across this summer, this winter and next summer.
| Singapore – Frankfurt Weekly seats each way |
||||
| Cabin | NS26 Summer |
NW26/27 Winter |
NS27 Summer |
NS27 vs. NS26 |
| First / Suites | 70 | 56 | 56 | -14 (-20%) |
| Business | 882 | 924 | 672 | -210 (-24%) |
| Premium Economy |
504 | 536 | 392 | -112 (-22%) |
| Economy | 3,689 | 3,698 | 2,576 | -1,113 (-30%) |
| Total | 5,145 | 5,214 | 3,696 | -1,449 (-28%) |
Compared with this summer, when the route had one daily A380 and one daily 777-300ER, that’s 1,449 fewer seats in each direction every week, or 207 fewer per day.
Economy takes the biggest hit at 30%, but Business Class is down by almost a quarter too, with 30 fewer seats per day each way, while Premium Economy loses 16 seats per day.
Interestingly, the extra SQ330/329 flights this winter more than covered for the missing A380, with slightly higher weekly seat totals than NS26 in a typical week. Alas, there’s no such cushion for the route next summer.
Suites passengers are the worst hit
While the change doesn’t make a huge difference if you’re booked in Business Class, Premium Economy or Economy, if you secured Suites on SQ326/325 next summer, the replacement isn’t quite on par.
For Suites passengers already booked on these flights, it means the experience changing from this…

to this…

The 2013 First Class seat is still a strong product in its own right (see our review here), with a 35-inch wide seat in a 1-2-1 layout, but it lacks the floor-to-ceiling walls, sliding doors, separate armchair and bed, and double bed option of the 2017 Suites.
There’s also a seat count drop in First Class. The A380 has six Suites, while the 777-300ER has only four First Class seats, so on any SQ326/325 flight where five or six Suites had already been sold, some passengers will need to be moved, most likely to SQ26/25 on the same day (which also has four First Class seats), or to another date.
In Business Class the impact is less of an issue, with the newer 2017 seats on the A380 replaced by the 2013 seats on the 777-300ER, which are quite similar in most respects. Premium Economy shrinks from 44 seats to 28, which also makes upgrade offers for Economy Class passengers less likely to appear.
What are your options?
If you’re booked on an affected flight, SIA should contact you about the aircraft change, if they haven’t done so already.
In past equipment swaps, readers have reported SIA waiving change and cancellation fees for affected bookings, including awards, so it’s worth asking if the 777-300ER doesn’t suit your plans.
If Suites was the whole point of the trip, London Heathrow is the obvious alternative. It keeps two daily A380s next summer (SQ308/319 and SQ322/317), and KrisFlyer prices London and Frankfurt awards identically, so switching costs no extra miles.
That’s subject to award availability, of course, which for Suites is never a given, especially on Saver awards. For Advantage, it’s easier.
Don’t count on the new First Class
Singapore Airlines unveiled its all-new First and Business Class earlier this week, including a six-seat 2027 First Class cabin for its upcoming Boeing 777-9 fleet, with curved sliding doors and a double bed in the centre pair.

The first 777-9s are due to start arriving in the second half of 2027, but it’s still unclear when the first of them will enter service, or where they’ll fly first.
As a 777-300ER route, Frankfurt is a natural candidate for the 777-9 eventually, but there’s nothing to suggest it will be among the first cities to see it, so in our opinion it’s not one to pin your hopes on for summer 2027.
Where is the A380 flying next summer?
So where will SIA’s superjumbos be flying in NS27? It’s still a bit early to say this is set in stone, as schedules and aircraft allocations for the season are still being finalised, but here’s the current plan, at the time of writing.

| Auckland | SQ285/286 | 7 x weekly |

SQ424/423 | 7 x weekly |

Shanghai also drops off the list, with SQ830/833 reverting to the Boeing 777-300ER from 28th March 2027, and no sign of the A380 returning to the route after that at the time of writing.
That leaves just eight daily A380 departures from Changi across six cities next summer, down from nine this winter.
By our calculations, this provisional schedule can be flown with just ten aircraft, nine in daily rotation plus one operational spare. With 12 superjumbos in the fleet, that suggests two won’t be used all season, which points to either maintenance downtime or more changes still to come.
The two notable changes from past summers are Melbourne and Auckland, both now planned with the A380 year-round. Melbourne has kept the type since March this year, when it was reinstated at short notice as the Dubai disruption continued, and SIA then extended it through the winter.
Auckland, meanwhile, became a year-round A380 route last month, with Dubai now not returning until March 2027, and on the A350 Medium Haul quickly followed by the 777-300ER when it does.
For the full current schedules through to late March 2027, see our guide to where SIA is flying its Airbus A380s.

Summary
Singapore Airlines has dropped plans to bring its Airbus A380 back to Frankfurt for the northern summer 2027 season, with a four-class Boeing 777-300ER operating the daily SQ326/325 flights from late March to late October 2027 instead.
That’s bad news for those booked in Suites on these flights next year, who’ll now be in the less exciting (but still good) 2013 First Class seat, though London’s two daily A380s at the same miles price are an alternative if you can find the award space.
Perhaps the bigger issue is capacity, with the supplementary SQ330/329 flights also disappearing, so Frankfurt is set to lose 28% of its seats next summer compared with this year, and current schedules show neither the A380 nor the extra flight returning before late March 2028.
SIA’s new 777-9 First Class may eventually come to the route, but with no service entry date or launch routes confirmed yet, we wouldn’t count on it for next summer.
